It's quite incredible that those 20 dollars folding bikes can perform like this, I ' ve watched the video about the cleaning of the bikes and the removal of the rust, at that moment the bikes were just one step from the trashcan........As indie rockers use to say : do it yourself ! And it works.
Great stuff Andy just shows how durable and versatile foldies are, I love my foldie though will prob get an aluminium one to travel, it does everything I ask of it in any weather or conditions.
Folding bicycles are pretty awesome. I have a nice steel one that I modified for my height to make it more comfortable. The only thing I don't like about my folding bike is it only has 6 speeds.
Cheers Colin! Absolutely you can use anything! I'd like to make another budget bike build & adventure video this summer. Im keeping an eye out for a very cheap bike under $20
I’m surprised at how strong it is, generally the rear racks are rated to 10kg but they both held up well on this journey carrying a fair bit of weight! 👍😎
Cool idea I’d never thought of it! Maybe I could 🤔 Really happy to find that seat on my travels, it made the ride much better- the original seat was nearly worn out! 😂⛺️🚲🚲👍
Love your videos. Do you know which brand your bike is? Just curious. I also have a folding bike, bought it second hand, and I'm riding it every other day to build endurance and to get to know it as I'm a newbie to bikes even though I'm in my forties. Your adventures are inspiring :-) Thank you for sharing mate.
You were very fortunate to pick up that bike for just 20 dollars! since it has not been cheap. The break leaver housings are made from aluminum which you do not see on cheap or normal folding bikes. In that case the break leaver housing is made from plastic. Besides that you did not talk about chain wear. You have to check that with a very simple and cheap tool; 5 bucks or so. Your journeys are often across all sorts of terrain with all kinds of dirt and especially sand from which your chain will suffer. And a weared out chain will even quicker wear out your freewheel and your front sprocket. I made that mistake and have learned my lesson.
Yes this is a good tip 👍 I showed some chain maintenance in one of the Dutch episodes. I did simple cleaning and oiling of the chain only. We used 3in1 chain spray that worked well 😎🚲🚲⛺️🌴
@@grahamramsay3402 i got two randomly from a guy selling them off his yacht, they were rusty as hell you can see in this vid: th-cam.com/video/bZ-buwsALsw/w-d-xo.html but i cleaned them up & rode 4 months through europe
Your adventures are amazing but the cycle you are using is very simple. It's Credible 😱 I'm also an E-Bike rider and content creator but I have a great EMTB 🚲for my cycling Tour in Switzerland 😎
This kind of folding bike is made by a couple of companies in China which are the source of all these 20" folding bikes. Dahon is one of the biggest manufacturers and they are re-badged for regional sales. Mine is a Fluid Traveller II sold by Anaconda in Australia. Almost identical to his bike but white. Search for 20 inch folding bike in Google and you'll pprobably find something close to the same thing. I searched for folding bike on a local second hand web page (Gumtree Australia) and found quite a few for reasonable prices. Hope that helps.
Is Mel's foldie has the same specs like yours? Are you going to restore it in the future or will it stay hobo look yet functional? Man that donkey took a lot of battle scars from your hardcore rides.
Yeah they both the same. Bikes got knocked about on the trip but still going strong 💪 Not planning to restore at all just ride until they don’t work anymore! 👍🚲🚲⛺️🍻😎

Yup you got it! I'm a big fan of do it yourself, we just want to live free and ride!
Great adventure and it proves you don't keep the top equipment to get out there and make great memories, well done to you both 👍
Yup you got it! The hardest part is getting out there and doing it , also it’s the most fun and rewarding 😎🚲🚲👍🌴
Epic travels .Nicely done . Hope to see more from both of you .
Cheers Greg! 👍🚲🚲⛺️😎🍻

Totally agree, so useful!

Yeah I like the 7 speed gears ⚙️ the Tern bike I had was well geared. Enjoying some good riding today here in NZ!
I'm so impressed I can't wait to get on my adventure
Woohoo!
Great video Andy. Nice to see you can use anything you have.
Cheers Colin! Absolutely you can use anything! I'd like to make another budget bike build & adventure video this summer. Im keeping an eye out for a very cheap bike under $20
Well done. That back rack looks so flimsy, but obviously was up to the job.

Agree with you... A good seat is a must... Very durable bike... Do you plan someday to install a removable ebike kit for non-so-flat trips?

Very inspiring. Well done.
Thanks mate!
Thanks for the great bike check 🤤👍
cheers!
Your link has the bike for US$479 + tax so $20 is a miracle 🙏
It sure is, thats why i always recommend buying secondhand!

Thanks! My bike is “Sonar” brand, I got 2 of them off a sailboat they were extremely rusty but cleaned up well. Great machines these folding bikes!

Nice looking bike..

@@hobocyclist i like the design of that folding bike. It doesnt age..still looks trendy and cool even in 2022 .
I wish you could tell us where these brand and models are being sold. You've never told us.
