So funny you said it sounded like easy listening right before the Nels Cline solo XD, Nels is well known in the noise rock scene and played with sonic youth at the tail end of their career. Had the absolute pleasure of seeing him play with Thurston Moore when I was 12 (alongside Steve Shelley, Debbie Googe, and some people in John Zorn's circles I forgot) and jesus christ the volume in that little arthouse theater set my whole musical world on fire. Didn't even know Noise was a subset of music before then.
If you want some weirder Wilco with some more of that guitar work, Star Wars and Schmilco have some awesome noisy bluesy spazzy licks all throughout. Super underrated IMO.
When you started talking about this song not being your cup of tea, I instantly thought you need to hear Via Chicago-Very curious to watch that reaction
Never have been a huge Wilco fan but this is off of the one album from them that I own. Think I saw them perform this on SNL and bought the album the next day. Great review and surprised that you liked it…or at least saw the value.
David, your acting is worthy of Steve Martin's level. Parody is definitely your genre. I liked the reaction itself more than the song and it happens quite often.
