    Huge thanks, I tip my hat to you sir! Trunk didn't work, no power to the switch (black/yellow connector). Cut the grommet open, yellow cable was broken, soldered it, works. Turned out I wouldn’t have had to cut the grommet, the cable was broken about where it meets the trunk = under the white plastic part so your method, just stripping the grommet back would have worked if I I would have been a little more patient.

    Thank you so much, Your video pointed me in the right direction. Mine was even worse than yours. I had the Black cable and three small yellow cables broken. The problem was that all three cables are identical.Thank you Citroen! Once I managed to locate the hi level brake light cable that left 2 for the switch and actuator. All working now. Thanks Again

    Other symptoms of the same wiring issues can be slow running wiper motor, poor demist function, Central locked doesn't recognize the boot lid has opened etc. In my 2008 coupe the wiper motor runs slowly if the heater is on and makes small steps when you press the boot catch switch. This is because the earth (that thick green and yellow cable in the video) is broken and the other items are finding a path down the common earth to the wiper motor than then runs as electricity is pushed through it. The wipe motor cables are not big enough to carry this load and hence its a fire risk! Also in the video, If the boot takes a hard slam to close, this may be as a result of the bolts holding the striker plate / loop in the bumper getting loose over time, or the lock securing screws becoming loose. The loop/lock then moves as you close the boot. I have to tighten mind every few years.

    Thanks for the excellent video. I have followed your tutorial and successfully got my boot switch working again. I kind of had to butcher the grommet and although its not looking pretty, its all taped up and operating perfectly. Top video and advice. Once again, Thankyou

    Nice work man.
    There was a recall for that grommet for the coupe models, though the hatch model was also affected from what I read. They replaced it for one with an elbow at both ends.

      It took me a long time to find it.

      I found your video because the one in my car didn't look right, so I was looking into it. Nothing wrong with the electrics but I did have a water leak from it once. Turned out the rubber had an extra twist on it. Fixed it half an hour ago lol

      Is that recall still in order?

      They did and my 2008 model has an elbow on both ends, yet still the cables are broken. The thick black one (screen heater) ,thick yellow/green (earth), a fine yellow one (Boot latch sensor) plus two others were on the point of failure. This is a design fault, but as it takes 10 years or so to fail, i guess Citroen are not too bothered as it's outside any warranty. All things break eventually, but wiring in Citroens has been an issue on all three i've owned. I never had similar issues on any of my other cars, not even the British built 1970's cars. The Peugeot 405 GDRT never had a wiring fault either. Design on the c4 has some questionable choices, air filter removal requires the scuttle to be removed, Wiring is unreliable, headlight bulbs are down a narrow access hatch that makes it almost impossible without special tools and head light bulb failures happen a lot which is usually a sign of wiring issues, engine wirring issues (Citroen even sell a repair harness to fix this one). I find the dealers on the whole are good, but i suspect they get a lot of practice !

      Mine used to do that, all I had to do is push down slightly while pressing the button and it would actually unlock, otherwise you hear the motor but it doesn’t open. Give it a try and hopefully works for you, mine stopped opening altogether so I will probably have to follow the video 😢

    hey man do you know what could be the problem on my citroen c4. It does not show me the fuel level, sometimes it is known to raise up to 3 lines and then the reserve is lowered and lit neatly, but when I add fuel the level of the lines does not move at all but still falls. thank you

      fuel sender unit is faulty very possibly the float on the sender is the issue it needs to be changed. the float is not float well on the top of the fuel fluid so it sometimes sinks to the bottom.

    So how do you get to the wiring if the boot doesn’t open

    • @cartorx1261
      @cartorx1261  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a manual opener hidden inside next to the latch itself.

    • @cartorx1261
      @cartorx1261  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or you can dismantle the door panel from inside and open manually if you can't find the opener it's very small or take to a specialist who can find it.

      On the 2008 coupe, and probably most c4s, you crawl into the boot. There is a small hole (approx 5 mm x 2 mm) on left side of the lock as viewed from the boot. You may have to push the carpet /boot seal out the way. Use something, like a small screwdriver to reach into the hole and slide the internal catch to the left. The catch opens. Having done this for a few weeks, the prospect of fixing the wiring becomes more appealing. I think this is also described in the handbook on some cars.
