    the camshaft timing belt does indeed last 165,000 kms or 10 years. the fuel pump belt is 240,000 kms or 10 years. (yes Ford confirmed it) it's also in the service book....in the glovebox next to the owners manual...unless it's lost. good video.

    Thanks bondy. Went off without a hitch. I dunno what belts ford use. But we brought it at 112k, klms and I just replaced it at 192k, klms and it had a dayco belt on it,I put a gate's belts on it, 👍

      Hey Wayne, this one should have been done a while ago as the old belts did not look to healthy,

    Hi Bob short and sweet video with 2 quick questions. 1. What are the seals for? 2. If the water pump has failed and I am replacing it do I assume the belts haven't been replaced at the required intervals. Now with 278k on the clock but I have only owned it for 12k.

    • @bondywashere4379
      @bondywashere4379  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Roger,
      the oil seals are for the front of the cam shafts and lower crank seal Behind the sprockets) the water pump can be replaced with out cam belt covers being removed so the only way you can confirm belt replacement is by the service history or ultimately dismantling so you can physically inspect the belts, worn (or old belts) will have prominent cracking at around the belt tooth areas, most older timing belts will show signs of this but obviously you would need to judge the age of the timing belt by its condition, not so easy to do unless you have had some experience comparing not so old to ones that are in need of replacing,

      @@bondywashere4379 hi bondy tnx for the rely. WELL! The job hell in a hand basket. After discovering the plastic water outlet had movement at the bonded joint I priced one at our local NAPA, OME $976.00 wtf, Tridon $174.00 go figure that. So reassemble and discovered a coolant leak coming from behind the alternator, drip, drip. After an hour of crawling in over and under I found it was leaking where the top hose clips onto the "new" Tridon part. Drip drip down the front then behind the timing belt cover down to the bottom of the block around to behind the alternator to drip off the sump. It seems that the Oring in the clip on bit is buggered and there is 0.5mm variation less in the after market part. Do you know that that Oring is $150.00 from Veals cos you can't get it without buying the whole top plastic /hose assembly and $540.00 from NAPA cos they only sell a hose kit with multiple hoses. I tried the local hydraulic shop and gave me a couple of Orings but as it turns out only Ford make a Oring with a 4mm cross section. Going to try getting a standard 5mm cross section Oring in there tomorrow but at this point I think I will be spending another $150.00 a Veals. Or I get something manufactured from metal and never have to worry about it again.

      @@rogerhobday8369 you can buy aluminum housing units on ebay, i have one but have not fitted it yet, it is a two piece design, the one on the right hand side of the block is a different story to get to, but cheap enough from landrover as these 2.7's are the same as the disco 3,

      @@bondywashere4379 I have fitted the Tridon unit and a new Mackay outlet hose and it is all good now. But... I have two long bolts 6mm threads about 50mm of thread with a 8mm bolt head with a further 25mm of blank pin above the hex. For the life of me I can't remember where I took them from.

    Jeez that's a bit of a job for a timing belt change. Do you need an inspection mirror to carry out the rear injector pump belt or can you feel it out? Like on a level of 1-10 how infuriating of a job is it? haha.

  • @aaronmiller2466
    @aaronmiller2466 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just one question, the injection pump belt, do you have to time it in? Or is it just a pressure pump? Not required to time it into the cam shaft, like a normal mechanical injector pump like my6.5 chev

    • @bondywashere4379
      @bondywashere4379  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi, this is not timed nor are there any markings for timing, it is just a drive belt for pressure pump,

    Ford Recommended every 140xxx to me, i heard slapping behind the covers, removed the inspection cap and noticed rubber fragments resting in places, Ford were addiment that the belt wasn't splitting as they have never seen one break. went to get it changed, they quoted me $2700.00 to get it done, but fortunately i got it done under 5000k 2nd hand car warranty and didn't have to pay a thing. car only had 106xxx ks upon purchase.
    so i think that even the 140xxx ks they say is too much.

      Yes but your one off example isnt rule if law. It may be the exception. What is more useful is hearing multiple stories of when people have had to get theres done. Perhaps asking a few trusted mechanics to get a larger picture could be valuable if you don't trust what the book says....

    My Territory diesel has done 278,000k's and I think the fuel pump belt maybe shredding itself, was going into limp mode going up a steep hill today towing my caravan DCS fault coming up on the dash and CHECK ENGINE, and was making a noise like a belt was shredding itself after I restarted it drove off.
