A cold Sunday evening in Sydney. Lamb is in the oven and I can peel the vegetables along with a glass of wine watching an engine get rebuilt. What’s not to like?
A masterclass in engine building! Only one debacle and no mention of Dave so all went very well! Took me a while to realise an L - Ring wasn’t a fancy kind of O- Ring. I worked for a surgeon once who got me to check every knot he ever tied when operating. Somehow Vera checking your clips put me in mind of him!
Thank you, Christian for being a first class engineering mentor to us and you be an excellent lecturer for up and coming engineers. Thank you too Vera keeping order and threat of divorce should disappear.🇬🇧🇩🇪👍.
Salute to you Sir. I don’t think LR mechanics will ever do anything like this to the engine. You should lecture LR mechanics and the entire team about how to service it
WHAT A MASTER reminds me of my apprenticeship at bosch early 70s with my 'masterbrief' journeymani was lucky to learn from him and pass this on to the many apprentices that hav passed through my workshop, thank you both for inviting into your home and workshop greetings from south africa ,robert
I just gave myself a smug pat on the back because I bought Elring head gaskets for my 2001 Range Rover 4 litre V8. AND I did actually follow the installation guide. Yes I know never been done before ... Top quality parts.
What Christian does in 1 day would take me 5 days. I never seen so many parts, clips, bolts in my life. My 1965 427 Corvette I think had only 5/8" bolts and I rebuilt it when I was 18 years old.
Well done Christian! You got so much done without your Supervisor present, I sure Vera is very pleased with your performance although I did miss her witty commentary, Sunday is not Sunday without watching your great videos.
Love your content! Great work! Just one tip when installing lifters. You allways have to press/squeeze them before you install them. So take two aluminium plates or L-profiles and put them on your bench vice so you don't damage your lifters with your vice. I also drill a small hole on one of the aluminium plates and I put the side of the lifter with the hole on top on that hole that I drilled on the aluminium and aline it. That way the oil in the lifter will be able to get out throo that hole. Than you start pressing your vice/lifter for about 1-1,5mm. A bit of oil will go out and that is the goal of this. Why you ask? Well a lot of builders don't know that and do it without that step, but on some engines you actually damage/bend your camshaft without that step as you torque it. Hope this helps you on your next builds. I don't want to be a smartass desktop mechanic :D as you really do a great job with this repairs. Just want to help you and others that read this comment :) all the best!
Good morning Vera and Christian 😊 That was really strange watching Christian rebuilding the engine without Vera in the background supervising you lol 😂 See the Queen was simmering in the sunshine ☀️😎 fantastic as always with quality content 👍🏻 Hug for Vera until next Sunday take care xx
You have basically blueprinted the engine, would be interesting to see how much BHP you are producing based upon spec. Well done guys, glad to see the marriage holding up.
Another brilliant Sunday morning. Thank you Christian and not forgetting Vera, for providing another informative and educational video on this engine rebuild. You have my undiminishable admiration for the work that you undertake and your adherance to the saying "do a job right, do it once". someone commented that it is like watching an artist at work, I agree you are my Leonardo DaVinci of the Land Rover mechanical world. Thank you, Thank you Thank you, I can not wait till next Sunday.
Absolutely crazy how well you work. Extremely patient and precise. Rarely, absolutely rarely seen. No wonder these cars are better than new from the factory!
Hats off to Christian and Vera, a masterclass in engineering assembly, but these modern ICE engines are fiendishly complicated. I would hazard a guess the the hours to remove, rebuild and install this engine, to Christian's standard would take about 40 hours, so in the UK a cost, with parts, of approx £3k.
That is not included researching and ordering parts, which takes endless hours. Every single little O-Ring and gasket needs to be replaced. That is what is not shown in our videos. As a DIY mechanic, working only on the weekends, it takes us 2 months from start to finish, hopefully. 🙋♀️
Wonderful Christian and Vera! I've just bought a 1 previous owner 2012 RR Sport L320 3.0 SDV6 to pair up with our Disco 4. Love them. Keep up the great work!
I'd like to think that all these procedures and torque settings that you carry out, are done in the factory. Great Sunday morning tea and toast viewing.
Christian, Vera, I have just had a hell of a time removing the fool injectors on my V8. The Jaguar slide tool is totally unfit for the task. Christian, please, please, please, engineer an alternative device that uses a ratcheting action to slowly increase the pressure on them, so they pop out without breaking.
I got back from a journey with my Audi A5 today 45 minutes earlier than if I had gone with my LR3 for the same journey.... Wow 240 PS 3.0 TDI! The Disco was the old cruiser on the seven seas but now I have a Corvette speedboat!
I love to see somebody lapping the valves in like it used to be while Vera has been gone i bet you have been working all night like i used to I have recommended your channel to other people with V6 problems hope you do not mind ,thanks for the video I am of on my holidays on Monday but i am taking my laptop so hopefully i can watch you next week .
Excellent quality of work and brilliant video. I see your engine has the Turbo drain line into the block and not the sump(35.17) which helps stop the Turbo belching out smoke when you give it the beans ! This should have been a recall on these engines but alas it wasn't 🤔👍
You two are amazing to watch. You are both funny and entertaining. But also your level of detail and quality workmanship is extraordinary. It’s nice to finally watch videos of intelligent people. There are so many dumbasses here in Australia. Thank you to both of you…
Your amazing Christian just cannot get my head round how complicated these modern engines are we could get a Ford Anglia engine out and back in in 4hrs all done. Progress a🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Very nice, I love how saying an engine has been rebuilt in Germany is not enough. You have to photograph each stage, record measurements and show that it is within approved tolerances. It makes the other rebuilds look like a cat in the sack.
another great video, I love that Vera checks your connectors. I used to work for the Toyota assembly plant in the UK, they used to teach us to Push, Click Pull and say it out loud every time we connected an electrical connector. maybe Vera should get you to do this as a confirmation you have done it. correctly?
Christian, I cut and weld the hoist legs so they nest properly on the engine stand. I have the same hoist and did it years ago...much better, also now fits between the front wheels of an old Alfa, not that it matters in your case. Love you guys!
Good morning Christian and vera.getting close to the engine install.fantastic engineering.as I've said before that this will be your best engine rebuild yet.😊😊😊
Good morning from NZ. What a beautiful engine rebuild 30 plus years in the trade in UK BEST every vid on rebuild only wish I had the capability to have machine the part for instal as you have. Many times had to work blind on some engines follow specs as best was possible good luck or dumb luck not many problems you can't solve with a bit of thinking ha ha. Anyway may I suggest that you take up doing landy engine rebuilds full time even with a premium on the finished product (from scrap to gold) you would have customers on a waiting list for such high spec units. You would have to pay your apprentice (Vera) a shed load of dosh thought. You should also put a plaque on your engines so people know who rebuild it. They would be collector's items and sought after for their quality. Sorry it's a long post but I do enjoy your work and ethics, and Vera of course.Stay safe and well lol NZ.
Only few can reach this level of accuracy and attention to details, truly a master in this field. Congratulations honestly on your achievements.
I absolutely agree
A cold Sunday evening in Sydney. Lamb is in the oven and I can peel the vegetables along with a glass of wine watching an engine get rebuilt. What’s not to like?
Put anotha shrrrrimp on the baaby.
Hot bath in Wodonga with a nice single malt. Land Rover time!
Yes it's bloody awful weather. But a bottle of red to assist.
I know of one Land Rover/Jaguar expert? in Sydney who would benefit from these video's as I unfortunately have one of his engines!
Not as cold as Melbourne lol
I can only give this video four stars because there is not enough Vera.
😅I was on a campingtrip. 😅🫣🙋♀️
I am amazed at the quality of workmanship that Christian puts into an engine rebuild. So satisfying to watch the engine going back together again..
Brilliant to watch
There’s something extremely satisfying about watching a clean motor rebuild. Even more so when Christian does it!
A masterclass in engine building! Only one debacle and no mention of Dave so all went very well! Took me a while to realise an L - Ring wasn’t a fancy kind of O- Ring. I worked for a surgeon once who got me to check every knot he ever tied when operating. Somehow Vera checking your clips put me in mind of him!

little wedge is called a collet
As a retired desktop mechanic I really enjoy watching your videos
Funny and educational
Only videos I can watch twice! Christian is the David Attenborough of modern Land Rovers!
I do love it when Christian states, ‘very well’.
With each project, the level of precision and craftsmanship only increases. Hats off to you, sir and madam.
🤗🙏🙋♀️
Salute to you Sir. I don’t think LR mechanics will ever do anything like this to the engine. You should lecture LR mechanics and the entire team about how to service it
Thank you for another very informative video. I have said it before but I never get tired of watching Christian assemble these engines.
Outstanding rebuild AND video editing. They both require time, patience, and organization.
Thanks, very few know that.🤗🙏🙏🫣
Wow, wow, words fail me, it was a priviledge to watch a master and mistress at work! Can't wait 'till next Sunday, and LT church time, lol.
Aren’t they BOTH Masters? 😊👍🏻🙏🙈
I like your idea of tightening everything with a click click sound.. perfect torque always 😂
Don't worry about the comments guys you are doing a great job. These people that comment something negative have nothing else better to do.
🙏🙏🙋♀️
it deserves a beautiful engine plate: 'rebuilt proudly with german precision by LR TIME', love from Paris
Молодцы, респект за такое мастерство, и целый цех для ремонта, одним словом шарит!
Beautifully rebuilt and a well edited video.
LR Time ❤

Yay! Sunday morning - LR time 👏
I just gave myself a smug pat on the back because I bought Elring head gaskets for my 2001 Range Rover 4 litre V8. AND I did actually follow the installation guide. Yes I know never been done before ...
Top quality parts.
👌👍💪💪Land Rover uses Elring, so it‘s OEM.🙋♀️
What Christian does in 1 day would take me 5 days. I never seen so many parts, clips, bolts in my life. My 1965 427 Corvette I think had only 5/8" bolts and I rebuilt it when I was 18 years old.
😅👍 But it's all nuts and bolts in the end. Like on a V8 out of '65, just a couple more. Nothing to be worried about.🤗 🙋♀️
I love your patience and attention to detail it slows me down and makes me do things properly .
Excellent Christian a pleasure to watch a professional at work keep it up 👍❤️
Superb as ever Christian & Vera. No debacle’s whatsoever! Best wishes.
Well done Christian! You got so much done without your Supervisor present, I sure Vera is very pleased with your performance although I did miss her witty commentary, Sunday is not Sunday without watching your great videos.
She is back in the next ones. Christian

She was with Dave😂
Ik kijk elke zondag uit naar jullie nieuwe video , maar de video van vandaag ( 9 juni ) geeft aan , private en kan ik niet openen ?
I guess a quick re-edit is occurring........ Ideally adding Vera in shorts! 😬
brilliant video, and brilliant work, I could watch all day, love your engineering and passion ❤ ❤
The best episode ever! The connectors click was an orquestra!
You have basically blueprinted the engine, would be interesting to see how much BHP you are producing based upon spec. Well done guys, glad to see the marriage holding up.
Excellent 👍 It was so satisfying hearing all those clicks as it was being put back together.
Wow! It’s like watching an artist at work.
watching you assemble the engine alone, I keep hearing "oh my god" in my head
Lol
Thanks guys 👍
Perfect Sunday evening video entertainment whilst we are on holiday in our caravan….we don’t do roof top tents!
Watching you work together always puts me in a good mood for the next week of work
That is wonderful😅🤗🙋♀️
Every time I watch one of your rebuilds it's like watching for the first time. I'm always amazed. Cheers!
the little wedges are called collets in the UK
And Australia.

Building these engines are like any other engine if you know what your doing it’s a straight forward job
Sunday morning excellent can’t get up till I’ve watched this weeks instalment
Get those egrs mapped out and your intake will stay squeaky clean 👍
33:23 ! It's a ghost of a Newtonmeter that is checking your job:)
Jawol meinherr. Keep repairing those. There are many more where they come from . Good business to be in. Ja.
Not even counting the Jaguars…. Endless supply of failed engine cars. Indeed.
That rebuild was a joy to watch. Thank you.
Wonderful to see ye at over 70k subs now. True professionals

Most Modern Factories use Intelligent Tools that know what fastener and torque setting is required for each step.
Christian, Vera that was a thoroughly enjoyable 40 mins. 😀
After a long stressful day, Christian and Verra comes to rescue. Love watching your stuffs.
You're my role model, you challenge my knowledge on cars.
" This is the way " The force is with you !
Looking forward to the first start, watching this was like seeing a Symfony orchestra in motion I am now "LR TIME" hooked.
You have to wait for the symphony of technology. That is the moment I will be most excited about😅👌🙋♀️
Another great Video from yourself and Christian, look forward to the next one.👏

Christian, you are one very clever man absolutely first class
thanks for my usual Sunday treat!
My Sunday is complete, I have my video from LR Time. 🙂
You should make up custom builder plates for your rebuilt engines like the ones from Bentleys - crafted with pride and your and Vera’s signatures.
They get marked with our sticker😅👍🙋♀️
An absolute tour de force.
Vera and Christian, super mechanic, you will have engine for life ❤
Your assembly quality is Toyota quality ! 😁🤣 Great Christian ! Next must be an LS swap ?
I love to see somebody lapping the valves in like it used to be while Vera has been gone i bet you have been working all night like i used to I have recommended your channel to other people with V6 problems hope you do not mind ,thanks for the video I am of on my holidays on Monday but i am taking my laptop so hopefully i can watch you next week .
Will be a good episode!
10/10 for a great video! Loved how well it flowed. Straight to the point and very informative 😎💪
100nm torque too rotate in the manual seems really high in my opinion! Super super nice job❤
I agree. Maybe it is with the fuel injection pump mounted but not connected. Manual does not say it and I had the belt still off.
Congrats , I am 100% sure that even in Land Rover they don't do it with such precision! Very impressive indeed!
Oh check out our first videos of that engine rebuild. We show the OEM timing, it‘s incredible. Their precission is hard to dublicate. 👌💪👍🙋♀️
@@Vera_and_Christian I watch all your videos, the first ones of that engine are fantastic indeed, I was very impressed, cheers from Brazil!
What a great video! I can't wait to see it back in and the first start

I enjoyed watching the master at work this morning 2 cups of tea and you had the engine rebuilt 😊 looking forward to the next video guys 👏🏻👏🏻
Great fettle.
The cleanest intake/egr manifolds !
Previously OMG count and now WOW count.
Wows are much harder to get for sure. Christian
What a pair. I'm not sure how your marriage has survived all these rebuilds but I'm glad it continues.
Brilliant!
Got my cup of tea ready.
Better as from the factory Christian 👌👍
First like and then watch, because you know it's gonna be awesome, German precision 😁😍
Very nice, I love how saying an engine has been rebuilt in Germany is not enough. You have to photograph each stage, record measurements and show that it is within approved tolerances. It makes the other rebuilds look like a cat in the sack.
Fantastic video this week, really very good.
Great video guys. Excellent work. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
As always very nice and detailed video with great jokes to light up the mood from the tec. ☺️🙏🏻
