I feel like if Ridley lands what is essentially a tippered Falcon Punch, he deserves to just get the kill. At least at decent percents.

@@SkySaito Nah, it's more to do with the heavy elements of randomness in Smash. Items and stage hazards and even certain moves. Randomness is considered a good thing in party games because it relieves competition and gives even the most inexperienced players a fighting chance. In a fighting game, though, things are competitive; if the worse player can win, that's bad. It's why tournaments tend to deactivate the majority of stages and all items; they don't want the Evo grand finals to be decided by a Bob-Omb spawning.
