    Great review! Did you feel like the sizing was consistent with your regular shoe size?

    • @adventuredenali

      Oh I totally forgot to mention, they have a printable footprint so that you can make sure your shoe size is correct! I’m usually a size 8, and that’s what these ended up being too.

    I'm super keen on checking these out now! I really don't get out much (and live in Ireland, which definitely doesn't get that hot haha) but I prefer sandals over everything else and want a good pair to invest in. I want to do more walking, so maybe this is a sign. ✌️

    My son turns me on to these sandals. I agree with you - very comfortable. I have the turquoise color which really looks more like a dark green with a blue thread when you look at the strap up close. Tough color to photograph so doesn’t look like the color on the website. But I like the darker color better anyways! May you walk hundreds of miles in your sandals.

    Fun, quirky, yet informative review. Thanks.
    I've been thinking about footwear lately, as this week, I have finally replaced my favourite walking boots (Vegetarian Shoes Snowdon) after eight years of hard everyday wear. They are so comfortable that I was a bit worried about buying anything else, but eventually, I opted for the slight upgrade to the Vegetarian Shoes Veggie Trekker. Great for someone like me who hates using leather :)

    I love these sandals. I hiked in them all last summer. I did have some issues with blisters though doing a steep 3k foot elevation climb - right under the ball of my big toe on both feet. I love cycling in them!

      May I ask, once your Velcro is set on the back strap do you have to use it. I have had Velcro sandals In the past and the Velcro always wears out long before the sandal.

      @@believeinjesus8300 I haven’t tried it. Though i imagine they might feel a little weird because of how the strapping system is.I haven’t had any issues with durability with these. Also it sounds like their repair program is pretty good.

    I can’t say I’m as brave as you for wearing it for EVERYTHING, heh. But they are my +70 deg weather wear 90% of the time outside of work. Using the Cairin 3D when I came from Chacos. Absolutely love theses. Granted, I’m more light hiking and more urban walking with a little river kayaking.

    Thanks for sharing. I've been a 25 year teva user. Never again. First pair lasted 20 years. This current pair 5 years. Sole is toast, rubber is not the same. Puffy stuff wears out then bottom has holes. Previous was solid rubber. Vibram sole is re-solable. What bedrock you are genius. Chaco is no longer vibram. Time to try these.

    Great video really showing what the shoe can do. Have you (or your friends who recommended these) tried other bedrock sandals, specifically for hiking? I’m very interested in Bedrock as a thicker, more comfortable and better gripping sandal than my Xero Z treks (which are ultra minimal ). Esp looking for grip on wet rocks in backpacking conditions. There’s the Pro, 3D and 2 versions out there… very confusing which would be best for my needs and what the trade odds are. The one in your video is on sale at REI for about $60 so I ordered it. And direct from Bedrock I got the 3D Cairn Pro 2. So complicated.
    Any, thanks for any update on how you like these and if you or your friends would recommend any other bedrock sandal for serious hiking (like pacific crest trail or Appalachian trail).

    although i don't hike as much as you do in the video, i walk a lot for school and work. the usual "fashion" sandals are just not made for any long term summer heat walking, even 30 minutes, so i have been eyeing hiking sandals more. these look minimal and really do seem like, as you say, the perfect summer shoe!

    These sandals look pretty darn good! Like you, I have trouble getting my feet to feel really locked in with a pair of Tevas, and I hated throwing them away when I had worn them out. And yes (argh!) with the extra flappy bit in front of the toes. I call sandals like that "bee scoopers," haha. I'm also not a fan of the velcro strap closures because I'm a knitter and velcro eats yarn (it also tends to lose effectiveness when wet). Anyway, I like the webbing configuration of Chacos with the toe loop, which lock down on my foot pretty well. But their footbed is too wide for my feet, and that arch is way too aggressive for me. So I'm interested in trying a Bedrock sandal. I do have one reservation, though. I have narrow feet (8AA) so I worry about unisex sizing. I usually do OK in a women's medium (B) width, if I can tighten them down enough. But I *swim* in men's medium (C) width shoes. How does the width of these sandals feel to you?

    Thanks for the review! There's one thing I wish you'd talked about: value. That is, how do these sandals compare to Tevas (and other sandals) for the money???

    • @adventuredenali
      @adventuredenali  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The main difference between the tevas and the bedrocks, is that the bedrocks can be repaired, and resoled. The company offers a variety of ways in which the shoes can be fixed, altered, upgraded. The Teva sandals are generally a little less expensive, but, can’t be fixed. As a long time lover of tevas, I’ve been through four pairs now - replacing them as the wear out. It’s appealing that these bedrocks can be fixed when worn out.

    • @adventuredenali
      @adventuredenali  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are technically barefoot I believe, as they have zero drop and no molded foot support. My partner is a long time wearer of barefoot shoes, and I also have a pair of barefoot Altra trail runners. So, yes, barefoot works great in the desert!

      I think the 3D has a bit more arch support.

    • @adventuredenali
      @adventuredenali  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s a 3D option that has a little more support, but overall they’re made as a more “barefoot” style shoe with the standard models like mine having no support at all.

    I would never hike in any kind of sandal. Boots or some sort of waterproof shoe or middie for wet conditions for me. Scorpions and snakes - I’d be a bit worried about that as well where you are, but I’m not familiar with your area tbh.
    I love the sandals though.. nice looking. I’d definitely walk around in those in a mens version.
    And yeah- Tevas make everyone’s feet sweat- and they will get really stinky too.
    Btw.. you have beautiful feet. You could definitely be a foot model.

    I've heard there were things in Arizona desert called "Cholla". A cactus of some sort that is hazardous and have nasty needles and litterally "attacks" walkers who get close.
    It seems strange to me that a plant can "attack", we don't have these in Europe (or at least not in my country)
    In the Arizonian desert I would be concerned to wear open shoes with these aggressive cacti, venomous snakes and other critters around 😄 .
    Maybe it's some sort of myth, or exaggerated foreigner view, and depending on the area it's safe. I would assume it is, since you seem to be an experience hiker in this region.

    • @adventuredenali
      @adventuredenali  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! The cholla are everywhere and there are so many varieties! None of them really “jump”, although one can come off easily if you brush up against them. One just learns to navigate the terrain, be conscious of cactus, snakes and all the other prickly plants like amaranth and catclaw. I have been stuck by cholla though, it stays painful for many days/weeks even after!

    • @lukaszpokoju
      @lukaszpokoju 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@adventuredenali Hello ! Thank you so much for answering. Yes, it make more sense to get stung by slightly touching it than the cactus literally jumping at you, ah ah !
      I've heard several testimonies about how painful it was and how hard it was to detach the "pieces" that stick to everything. You live in a hostile environment Madam. Still this exotic terrain and landscapes are fascinating to my foreign eyes.

      @@adventuredenali I have the same experience with Chacos. I like the configuration of the webbing, with the toe loop (which surprised me as I usually don't like thong style sandals), but the footbed is ginormous. I have narrow feet, so it's a pretty sloppy-cloppy wearing experience for me.
