No nock to Sweden, great country and military none the less, but its not independently. Given their agreement with the US we are oblidged to give them our higher end gear and supplies. Statistically most of the gear they are currently listed as using is from Lockheed and Northrop with headwear from Rytheon, all of which sell 1000% solely to the US military. The defense cooperation agreement allows them to use of this gear and equipment. 13.6b in gear and 25b in weaponry was the deal which weve given already 80$% of that deal hence their rapid improvements in military hardware within the last decade with no increase in GOP to show how they can afford over 10b in gear out of the blue. Again, nothing against the great swed's but their rapid military growth is 100% the result in their agreement with the US to share US military hardware for Swedens political favor in the future, smart trade tbh.

Archer can fire three projectiles and be about to switch positions before the first projectile hits the target. You should definitely look at these weapon platforms
It can also make it so all three projectiles hit at the exact same time. This both fucks up for the enemy trying to track where it came from and when they find you, you're not there anymore.
Love the video. im new sub. And also you should really check out the swedish submarines Gotlandclass. The sunk the largest carriers of the USA in wargames multiple times and were never caught. Cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪
If you look into the Archer system you will find that it can fire multiple rounds that impacts at the same time. It shoots like 3 rounds that end up at the same destination within half a second of each other. And that sterling sub the US rented of the Swedes after them not being able to detect it during an exercise :-)
If you are interested in the Swedish army, do check out - and react to - the 'Jägarsoldat' series. A very well made production from the Armed Forces, following some conscripts from day 1 to the last day. Highly recommended! If you you go for that, bear in mind that the first 6 episodes lack English subtitles, but I know that there are people out there that can translate if you reach out. Nice reaction!
We are a small country population wise so we decided to work towards hi-tech equipment instead of manpower. So our army is fairly small but they are well trained and equipped with state of the art equipment. The Gripen is a good example, as well as the Archer
The Amfiber branch is a bit more for Navy SEALs but they specialize in the archipelago. They are called Jägar (=Hunter) units. Each branch has its Jägare units associations. But that's only a small part. Most of those mentioned belong to the boats. In the UK you have the SAS which is similar and they train together sometimes. But Amfiber the force is more concentrated in the world's largest archipelago with over 270,000 islands. Many people is not realize that Sweden forms half of Russia's front line to the west. It is as far from the southern point of Sweden to the northern point as it is from the southern point to northern Greece
as of 2024 we have 8000 conscript every year. 26/4 an important date when the defense committee with its final report, hopefully they will come to the conclusion that we will be much bigger in the future!
But it’s also the combination with geography and Finland that does it, the two brotherly countries having had long established co-operations. Finland with a really strong army and artillery force, Sweden with it’s navy, air force and highly qualified quick response capabilities. Backed by Nato and particularly Norway in the arctics, they together really will lock down Russian aggression in the north.
Pretty sure we have about 500 CV90's in Sweden, might be wrong though. Anyway, yes, Sweden technically uses the Leopard 2 tank, but we have our own purpose-built variant of it called the "Stridsvagn 122", literally translates to "Combat Wagon 122". It is a modified Leopard 2 A5 with additional armor and better internal systems than the default German tanks. The Strv 122-tanks were also built in Sweden. So, I would call our tank more of a cousin to the default Leopard 2. We donated 10 of them to Ukraine, and they praise it as the best version of the Leopard 2 they have gotten, which just warms the heart :)
Sweden could still have remained neutral. In fact, once Finland was in NATO, Sweden could have chosen to sit out and probably still benefit the full support of NATO. Since Sweden falling to a hostile force would be very detrimental to NATO security. But, we also promised Finland to join with them, so I guess we should. =)
The TH-cam channel FTD Facts has a decent video on the Swedish Special Forces (Särskilda Operationsgruppen). The amphibious troops that this video mentions are what some countries call Marines and other call Naval Infantry.
Well, the highly trained and successful Western (NATO) units are prominently featured everywhere. Especially where there is no real resistance. They were prominently featured in Afghanistan, at the Kabul airport, weren't they? They were masterful refugees. The Finnish and Swedish joining was a great idea, it contributes about 80,000 people to the strength of NATO. Yes, and with a border of 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) to defend. I would like to point out that, meanwhile, the Russian army has been strengthened by half a million people. Are we more secure? After all, these countries owed their development to neutrality, for a few years, and the end of prosperity, because they entered the Western alliance. This was the worst response to the possible Russian threat, because they became openly anti-Russian. Just as the Swiss banking system will also feel that it has given up its neutrality, because in the future, many people will no longer consider Swiss banks completely safe. , while other areas, such as the Cayman Islands, will become more popular. In vain, you have to pay for stupidity.
@@haga2519 Just try to refute one sentence. Facts are stubborn things, Joe. Just because you are intellectually similar to your great predecessor, the 46th American president, doesn't mean you have to be as senile.
We could not have stayed neutral. What people tend to look past is that about 3-4 months before Russia full on invaded Ukraine, they tried to take one of our islands. But stopped because of how many troops we stationed at that island and at the mainland + a NATO ship between Denmark and Sweden showed its presence. We are next in line.
14.850 Active, 11.450 Reservists is not the hole story. We have a conscript army, so a majority of people over 20 have basic military training. So if we are attacked by an invasion force, we can mobilize a lot more, like millions.
Please, Sweden and Finland, have been threatened by Soviet and Russia for hundred of years. We weren't allowed to apply to join NATO, Putin threatened us! To know so little, about a country that is situated so close to you, is really shocking!
they are failing to mention 22000 personnel of the hemvärnet (home defense) they are combat trained and military equipped volunteers with the role of defending their home turf. And the military's moto is that any mention of us surrendering is ordered to be ignored. Not even the government can say we surrender.
UK has recently bought the Archer from Sweden. I believe 24 of them. 8 have also been donated to Ukraine. You can find a lot of info about the Archer in TH-cam.
The Archer is basically the M777 but self propelled and I’d say it’s the best out. I wish the U.S. would buy some of them to go along with the M119 Paladin. Sweden also has developed a lot of weapons that is used across western countries. Carl Gustav, AT-4, NLAW, Bofors 40mm auto cannon, Archer and I’m sure there is more or was more.
Sweden dont have big army but they have a law thats called totalförsvarsplikten and states that evry person in sweden between 16 and 70 need to help the military
Sweden had plans to join nato for years. But since putin got more aggressive towards sweden and Finland and then where putin invades Ukraine made sweden finally apply for nato membership which they finally got.
2:20 "It's nice to have a big army but it's also the quality" In true war numbers matter way more. Once it turns into a meatgrinder, which it does. It's over for a small army.
To put to the Swedish Marines into perspective for you its like the SBS, high physical profile on soldiers. They are called Kystjägare, Coastal hunters
Do a video on the archer, its an amazing piece of artillery. Sweden has quite the tradition when it comes to artillery in general. (Goes back to making old-school cannons for wooden ships thanks to good swedish iron) Also the Subs are really cool, tend to mess with the US when they have trained together.
I can tell you about the "special forces", we have about the same as you and the US so, most hardcore badass: "röjdykare" thats munitions diver, you have kustjägare, thats a a marine. You will have flygbasjägare, those will proctect air force bases. Infantry wyse of course we have Fallskärmsjägare "Paratropers", Fjälljägare, arctic kind. All those you need to apply for and test for. Then you have the common Jägare. All these are "special forces" and I can tell you, Kustjägare is tough as nails and to be compared to SAS or Navy Seals.
Thanks for another good video! Yeah, do look in to the archer self propelled artillary, also the Gotland class Submarine, the Stridsfordon 90 (CV90 in English) fighting armoured personell carrier, the Stridsvagn 122 (probably the the world's best main battle tank), and finally the Visby class Corvette! They are all pretty darn good! ;-)

That used to be true but with today's technology sending wave after wave doesn't work when the other side can just comfortably take them out from a distance. Their gear is... third rate at best.
There are a couple of videos on youtube about särskilda operationsgruppen(the swedish special forces), but most of the information regarding training, missions they've done and so on are classified. It is actually pretty fun to go to wikipedia and read: "Size: Classified Commander: Classified Acting Commander: Classified Support Commander(dunno if that is correct translation into english. The paper guy officer): Classified. " Everything is classified. :P As it should be. According to wikipedia they have done missions in Kosovo, Chad, Afghanistan, Syria, against islamic groups in Mali and Niger; and the kabul 2021 evacuation.
I have worked at Bofors, what I see then, what they do now might be super amazing. We Swedes have a tendency to go over the top. Tech, yes, will, ohh yes, capability, are you joking..
Yes, NATO has expanded and strengthened in numbers when Finland & Sweden have joined the pact. At the same time, NATO countries have limited resources in terms of both military equipment and their economic muscles. In that perspective, support for Ukraine has unfortunately weakened NATO & exposed a fragile side that did not exist before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
When you said quality of soliders, it reminds me of Poland, Battle of Wizna; 40 to 1 which I think summarize it well. > According to Polish historian Leszek Moczulski, between 350 and 720 Poles defended a fortified line for three days against more than 40,000 Germans.[1] Although defeat was inevitable, the Polish defence stalled the attacking forces for three days and postponed the encirclement of Independent Operational Group Narew fighting nearby.
The US Navy owns 11 of the world's 43 active aircraft carriers (all of the world's super carriers)-- and that doesn't count its nearly two dozen flat-decked amphibious ships that might well be considered carriers in their own right.
The Swedish SOG (Special Operation Group) is highly capable and hyper secret. They have proven themselves very skilled and beaten both US Seal team 6 and British SAS on several exercises. They are considered to be one of the best trained on the world but at the same time, there operations are always covert and since Sweden have a 70 year secrecy act, it's very hard to come by information. Since I work with collecting information for our Spy Museum project, I've talked to several interesting people however, some of them have spoken with promise of Non Disclosure and just for me to mention what they said, would render me (and them) a very lengthy prison sentence (lifetime).. Sweden take "Top Secret" very serious (except when politicians slip their tongue.
its an old wound from the great northern war which sweden lost against russia + the finnish winter war that makes sweden want to stop russia from progressing westward
Sweden has two marine Regiment's which each has one marine battalion one outside Stockholm and one in Gothenburg. Sweden has two brigades which is increasing to 4 brigades. The army is undergoing a major expansion right now which is expected to continue as the next defence white paper is due this fall. Sweden could mobilize 850.000 men in the 1980's but during the 90's and early 00's that was cut massivley.
Army was about 850.000 in the 80's but they cut down with 96%😢 . And now 2024 we have DCA argument with USA . They can run Swedens goverment=we are state 53
Sure Sweden has marines. So does Finland. It's been pointed out as a specific asset they bring. And the Swedish and Finnish marines train jointly already. Which is helped by the Finnish marines, "Nylands Brigad", is made up of people from the Swedish speaking minority in Finland. Sweden currently has two regiments of marines, "Amphib" 1 and 2, with Amphib 2 a fairly recent addition and being built up as we speak. So Sweden and Finland have about 1500 marines each, for a combined force of some 3000. That might not sound like a lot, but it's to be compared to the British Royal Marines, which currently has some 5500+ men. The French and Italians have about 3000+ marines each. The Germans have 1500 in the Seebatallion (only since 2014, and they seem mostly defensive, not tasked with taking and holding beaches). So by comparison NATO just added the equivalent of one of the major European nations in marines capability in the Baltic.
Love ur take of all of this. And as u say. I like to know more. If we would've had more on all the points in the video we would've been a super power. Except nukes ofc... alot of capable forces in sweden and how they act.
1:26 Russia has had a hate boner for Finland ever since they thoroughly kicked their arses during the Winter War, the majority of international diplomacy between the two has since been something along the lines of Russia uncomfortably leaning FAR too far over Finland's shoulder while simultaneously promising that they're the best of buddies. There's a reason why there's major roads (perfect for military convoys, for example) going all the way from the Russian border straight to the capital of Helsinki.
Hmm... The issues between Russia & Finland (& by extension Sweden) goes way further back than the Winter War... Finland used to be the eastern part of Sweden for almost 700 years, & the conflicts go back to nation forming years.. Historically, they could be described as each other's arch-nemesis.. Things have just cooled down a bit after 1. the Great Nordic war, & 2 the Cold War.. Now, with the Muscovites attacking Ukraine, showing they are returning to their old expansionist "traditions", Finland & Sweden joined NATO in preparation for what is coming.. This allows them to continue rebuilding their old historical bonds, as well as getting additional strength through NATO.. Further, this opens the possibility of further integration with the other Nordic nations, approaching something similar to the old Kalmar Union, that ended in 1523.. Potentially, this is a "the North unites" scenario in the making, depending on how far it develops, & if so, would result in a rather significant "player".. From a Muscovite perspective, this is really bad news..🧐
As of the latest information available, the Swedish Armed Forces comprise a significant number of personnel and equipment. The active military personnel total 24,400, with an additional 11,400 military reserves. The Home Guard, known as "Hemvärnet" in Swedish, consists of 21,500 members. Furthermore, Sweden incorporates 5,200 conscripts annually into the reserves, a number that is set to increase to 8,000 conscripts yearly by 2024. So the Swedish military growns very quickly and the Swedish defence industry is very big.

@@devinjenkins4752 Nae, we have a great collaboration with the US, it´s a give-and-take situation. most of our (Swedish) weapons (Carl Gustav, CV90, CB90, Stridsvagn 122, RBS70, RBS15, Red Dots, Submarines, Corvettes, Guns (Bofors), Radars (Ericson), and so on are 100% Swedish Design........you buy weapons from us and we buy from you. When Sweden went down to Mali to “clean up the bad guys”or when they accidentally saved even French foreign legionnaires (interesting topic btw, they’ve got a lot of Russians.)
Tell us more about how they saved french foreign legionnaires! That sounds interesting.
@@kristofferhellstrom I just heard about it, apparently it was a few hostages, among them the two they looked for so they just helped everyone out, even got medals from the FFL.

To me there's an interesting aspect considering current events as there's a ton of Russians and most likely some Ukrainians as well serving side by side
Also Gotland locking down the Baltic region and making it easier to reinforce the Baltic states.
Those numbers are not accurate. It’s closer to 100.000 if you count the home guard and the numbers are increasing.
You should check out the Swedish Combat Boat 90. It sounds like it would be your area of expertise, its main job is to move troops to and from shore.
You need to do a detailed video on Archer. Super impressive gear.
Hi there, Vladimir.😆
@@haga2519 Just try to refute one sentence. Facts are stubborn things, Joe. Just because you are intellectually similar to your great predecessor, the 46th American president, doesn't mean you have to be as senile.
We could not have stayed neutral. What people tend to look past is that about 3-4 months before Russia full on invaded Ukraine, they tried to take one of our islands.
But stopped because of how many troops we stationed at that island and at the mainland + a NATO ship between Denmark and Sweden showed its presence.
We are next in line.
We do not talk about the special operations group, because... they're special.
I would love to see you react to a video about our Archer system.
I saw a comment not too long ago that really resonated with me. "We live in a time in which Sweden can no longer be neutral, and that terrifies me."
FINLAND: 25,000 active military personnel......870,000 reservists
The Archer is a sniper haubitz on wheels.
Marines no but ”Kustjägare ” like navy seals. “Norrlands dragoner ” Artic Rangers.
We have amphibious soldiers that are the equals of the marines? Amfibieregementena? Kustjägarna is more like Coastal Rangers?
sorry but the swedish amphibious corp is the equivalent of usmc or royal marines, the coastal rangers are a older more special role now days

The Archer is damn cool, I think you'd have fun looking at it
Sweden had plans to join nato for years.
They are called Kystjägare, Coastal hunters
the amphibious corp is the swedish marines, coastal rangers are older and nowdays only a small selective role
Kustjägare, inte Kystjägare. Vi är inte norrmän.
Do a video on the archer, its an amazing piece of artillery. Sweden has quite the tradition when it comes to artillery in general. (Goes back to making old-school cannons for wooden ships thanks to good swedish iron) Also the Subs are really cool, tend to mess with the US when they have trained together.
Don’t underestimate swedens military power. We are a small country but we have a very advanced military, leading tech in the military industry.
Suprised that you didn't know of the Archer. Probably the best SP Howitzer in the world and it is made by us Swedes.
Aren't our "kustjägare" some kind of marines? :)
Somewhere between SAS/SBS/Seals/etc and Marines/Royal Marines

Thanks for another good video! Yeah, do look in to the archer self propelled artillary, also the Gotland class Submarine, the Stridsfordon 90 (CV90 in English) fighting armoured personell carrier, the Stridsvagn 122 (probably the the world's best main battle tank), and finally the Visby class Corvette! Yes, we have Marines, and they broke NAVY-seals.
The Archer can fire 5 shots before the first lands. All hitting the target just a few seconds apart. First shot can stay in air for almost a minute.

From finnish army sergeant reservist here...both of my grandfahthers fought against soviets in 1939-1944...like stalin said "Quantity has a quality all it's own"...never ever underestimate the russians and their gear
It is actually pretty fun to go to wikipedia and read:
"Size: Classified

Acting Commander: Classified
Support Commander(dunno if that is correct translation into english. The paper guy officer): Classified. " Everything is classified. :P As it should be.

personnel number are wrong, 50000troops and conscripts that can be callled in. Source - Swedish armed forces.
I have worked at Bofors, what I see then, what they do now might be super amazing. We Swedes have a tendency to go over the top. Tech, yes, will, ohh yes, capability, are you joking..
When it comes to numbers of soldiers vs quality of soldiers. Just remember the battle at Thermapolye in Ancient Greece 480 bc
Sweden doesn't want you to know more about the special operations group I think
Yes, NATO has expanded and strengthened in numbers when Finland & Sweden have joined the pact. At the same time, NATO countries have limited resources in terms of both military equipment and their economic muscles. In that perspective, support for Ukraine has unfortunately weakened NATO & exposed a fragile side that did not exist before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
NOT TO FORGET 775.000 WEAPEN LICENS IN SWEDEN, THAT OWN 2 MILLION 200.000 THOUSAND WEAPEN TOGETHER.
We DO have Marines - we call them "kustjägare".
I'm pretty sure Sweden sold a bunch of Archers to the UK.
The US Navy owns 11 of the world's 43 active aircraft carriers (all of the world's super carriers)-- and that doesn't count its nearly two dozen flat-decked amphibious ships that might well be considered carriers in their own right.
Ok? What has that anything to do with this video?
Haven't fought a war in 200yrs. Fold in a week.😅
Yes we have marines, sweden have the most islands in the world over 250.000
its an old wound from the great northern war which sweden lost against russia + the finnish winter war that makes sweden want to stop russia from progressing westward
@adammathisson5119 we would fight for our brothers and sisters, but not for the corrupt gov.

The UK have 12 Archers now .

We really did not want to join any factions. But we weren't really left with a choice anymore.
The Gotland Class submarine. The submarine type that in a 2005 war game against USA "sunk" the USS Ronald Reagan and snuck away.
Army was about 850.000 in the 80's but they cut down with 96%😢 .
And now 2024 we have DCA argument with USA . They can run Swedens goverment=we are state 53
Numbers wrong... there is about 450 cv90. And 48 archers (soon 72)
You say Navy and Marines. Sweden says Navy and Amphibious (together these two are the Marine, in swedish terminology)
They have "kustjägare", the are similar to navy seals.
Sweden is growing its army

Russia has had a hate boner for Finland ever since they thoroughly kicked their arses during the Winter War, the majority of international diplomacy between the two has since been something along the lines of Russia uncomfortably leaning FAR too far over Finland's shoulder while simultaneously promising that they're the best of buddies.
The Archer isn´t artillery. It´s a sniper rifle!
never heard of archer and stating russian equipment is bad, when ukraine had the same, but the older versions at the start.
ukraine isn't holding, they are in a constant retreat, and with full support from vestern countries.
Yes we have Marines
Russia lost a million men trying to take Finland. Finland used guerilla tactics and lost 60 000.
Since then we know the life of a russian soldier is not worth anything to its commander.
I mean, if we had a 260 ish million people like the us. Assuming as big a % wants to be in the military. We would have 600k soldiers. Sweden only has a population of about 10 million
