  • How to knit 2-stitch I-CORD bind off on the Round with a neat connection in a circle using a tapestry needle, without a jog. Circular knitting. How to troubleshoot the i-cord bind-off - knitting tips. How to fix baggy stitches in the i-cord.
    I-cord bind off for neck trim, sleeves, cuffs, top down sweaters knitted in the round, toe up socks, top down hats etc. Easy process. Knitting for beginners. Continental knitting
    Matches well 2 stitch i-cord cast-on.
    Dear knitters!
    1) Changing the needle size is optional depending on the yarn and needles used. For me, working with cotton, it was necessary to avoid baggy stitches. In the video I switched from 4.5mm (US7) used for the stockinette stitch to 4mm (US6) for the i-cord.
    Also, you can switch to a smaller needle size not from the start, but from Step 2 (2:05 min) - I find it is better sometimes that the first stitches are a little looser to make the connection in a circle easier - this may also depend on the yarn used.
    2) SSK can be done faster, of course, (like we do decreases - slip, slip, insert the left needle from left to right opposite to the right needle, knit a stitch), but with cotton, for me, the way shown in the video produced neater stitches with a better control over the size of the stitches.
    Happy knitting!

    I originally found your 3 stitch i-cord bind off without a jog video and was going to use that as a guide to finish off my 2 stitch I-cord bind off. I was so happy to find that you also had this video. They're both incredible! Thank you so much.

    I found this extremely helpful, especially the bits after about 7:21 where the starting & ending yarn chains are joined without a jog : )

    Very nice to end the knitting. Could you please send me the same method of casting on? 😊

      Here is a link to a 3-stitch I-cord c/o. You can modify it by reducing from 3 to 2 stitches.

    Thank you! So well explained! Can it be done also in 3 sts i-cord bind-off in the same manner? And what cast-on do you recomend as a perfect match for this bind off or the 3 sts i-cird bind off? Thank you again!

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you for your excellent question! It made me brainstorm - what a delight! The 3-sts i-cord bind-off in the round is done in the similar way - but since there is an extra stitch (3 vs 2) for a flawless connection in a circle the connecting part is done a little differently to avoid a jog. I’ll post another video on this soon. For a cast-on - a 2 or 3-sts i-cord cast-on, or you can do a provisional cast-on, remove the provisional thread and do the i-cord bind-off. :)

      @@irinarevo thank you very mutch for your promt answer. I think you are right about provisional cast on and then i-cord bind off for a perfect match. Thanks again! You are very talented!

    Such a great work, thank you so much! I learn so many things from you! Could you please tell us what are the advantages or disadvantages of this bind off technique? I mean could this be worked in any project?

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much! It’s just a matter of taste - if you like it as a design element - can be used anywhere. It is not elastic though (does not stretch) - I use it where the stretch is not needed, or where I want a firm edge and a stretch would be undesirable. :)

      something last, does it help a stockinette garment not to roll out?

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really. To prevent the edge from rolling up - any variation of alternating knit and purl stitches would work - rib, seed stitch, garter or, simply, a couple of rows of alternating knit and purl stitches, where in the second row the stitches are shifted by a stitch (like the squares on a chess board) - that works well for me. :)

      Please check my channel - I have created two playlists: BIND-OFFs in the round and CAST-ONs in the Round - all without a jog. Let me know if there is a particular method you are interested in. :)

    Would you please be more specific about what you mean by "one size smaller" 1 mm? .25 mm? .50 mm?

    • @irinarevo
      @irinarevo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      In the video I switched from 4.5mm (US7) used for the stockinette stitch to 4mm (US6) for the i-cord.
