I go to classes bout twice a week, and try my best to go to 'open' practice in the weekends! Been doing Kendo for seven months, I'm a big guy so will have to have my Boju 'custom' made later this year. Hopefully!! Great videos very interesting
Men=helmet; Do (pronounced dou)=torso piece; Tare=waist down, below the Do; Zekken=name tag that goes over the center flap of the tare; Kote=glove. First, you need to get to a dojo for lesson. Learn all the basics, and your sensei will tell you when you are ready for bogu. Everybody's different, maybe 3 months on average. When it's time, get the whole set. Don't go fancy for your first set. Beginners can't tell the difference anyway. Plus, 98% people quit because it's too tough.
Oops, forgot about that little detail. Our dojo has kendo classes 4 times a week; iaido twice a week. It all depends on the individual. There's no rush getting into bogu. Best thing you can do is get to class, practice, practice and practice. Don't ask when you'll be able to put on bogu or when you'll become don/black belt. Kendo is about the journey, not the destination.
now i know why it's so expensive

It's bamboo, not wood, and it's usually more expensive. Less expensive ones are essentially made out of plastic.
I'm not saying it's not a grass, I'm saying it contains wood. it is made of wood.
Sugoi!
that doesn't exclude the fact that bamboo is wood.
there are handmade bogu and machine bogu, i think for this one, it's quite different
bamboo is wood for your information....
If most of the equipment material is from futon & leather, can it be made from other material? like jeans or layered kanvas...
Didn't knew that an Do was made of wood :D
what is written inside the futon padding? Is that something that is common inside bogu's?
What does he glue o the Dô in 9:19 ?? Is that Rawhide?
Nope, bamboo is a sort of grass
Technically bamboo is a grass.
di the realy have to wear hakama while making it? :D
wow..now I know my bogu is really worth 800
