I'm all about simplicity, and that's a pretty ingenious steering setup. Nice work.

They sell an anchor trolley.... But I would still want a quick release system with a float on the rope to go back and get it ... Just in case you have to move can cut loose and go back.... IDK I always think of what if and stuff happens... But love the set up ..I'm trying to buy my first kayak but want a heavier load limit I'm like 6'1 and 220

I have almost the same mount. I made a “T” shape instead of an “L”. I also used treated ground contact/marine lumber and stainless hardware. Still using it today 3 years later! A whopping $11 and a couple of pieces of leftover cutoff lumber as an investment.

Yeah this worked but was temporary. Treated and SS hardware is the way to go if you are doing lumber. Ill.have an end of year setup review eventually with the new mount and any things I changed, found out

Only thing I don't like about the anchor what if something crazy happens and you have to cut the anchor.... How would you do that...

The knife I keep on me at all times. I don't fish in current alot, if I do I kind of use my head and don't drop anchor in fast/deep current areas, I'll move close to shore, drop anchor with a short lead.

can you tell me the weight capacity of your kayak?
your build is almost exactly what I envision for my build this coming season and I really like your design!
would love to be able to chat with on other specs of possible that would be appreciated, also I like what you did with trolling motor set up and would like to bounce some ideas around with you🙏✌️💪 please

Nice setup! I'm a lefty and set everything up on the right on mine. haha. What kind of speed are you getting with the 40lbs? I have the same , but may need to adjust the depth of the trolling motor plus with me and the gear probably weighs around 300 lbs.

I'm getting about 3.4-6 depending. 45 minn Kota. 80ah SLA battery. Switching to li4po soon, SLA batteries are heavy. I've read on some Facebook groups the 3.5-3.9 is max speed on an outlaw.

@@jvetter8586 Yeah I seen other people post them speeds when doing a review and they was just paddling. I have a 60 ah li4po and went probably about 3 miles total the first time out with no problem. One thing to watch for using a li4po is that some battery boxes will show a lot of power left when the power is almost depleted because li4po's will still show a high voltage until about dead.

All tms will get almost exactly the same top speed. The motor heads are all rated for a certain max rpm, and the props are designed to accommodate that rotaion speed, with about 6 mph being the goal. Some of the big 24-36V motors go faster, but the main reason for more thrust is to get to that top speed faster and with less energy usage to get it there.

@@bradleyrussell1973 so yeah, if I hit the motor from a dead stop with a full batt my depth finder will read into the high 4mphs, but it will taper down to high 3s low 4s depending on my weight. Sometimes I carry too much (cooler). I'm totally ok with my top speed though. Just fast enough to get somewhere decently quick, but just slow enough to investigate good laydowns and not miss fishable spots. With the 45 MK I don't really have much trouble hitting max hull speed into about a 10-15mph head wind. Above those winds speeds it gets dicey to a yak anyway so I don't even bother. I only fish in 10-15mph winds on known waters where I known there will be protected areas that i can get to.

@@jvetter8586 I finally got to test mine out today and them speeds are about right that you posted. I was getting 4.0 to 4.2 on max. I do have all the weight pretty evenly distributed from the front to back and I think that helps out some.
