  • Hinterhalt-Tarnung (often called Ambush camouflage) was a late WW2 paint scheme used on German vehicles. In this video I build the Tamiya Panther G Late plastic model kit and paint it in this scheme. In a future video I will incorporate this Panther into a diorama - stay tuned for updates!

    Nice work as always. Tamiya's Panther G is relatively old but doesn't look oldish still now. Thank you for sharing and looking forward to the next step.

      Thank you :) Yes, it's a good kit for a fair price.

      Agreed, and it's a great mojo builder when you been struggling. Lost count of how many of these I have built - a few currently serve as paint mules 🙂

    *Good idea the hand painted dots, very long but very easy to do!*

    To help prevent issues with spray paints and varnishes when sparying in the garage or shed during cold periods try placing your paiints in a warm room or using a hair dryer until warm room temp is met pryor to use? Also to maintain warm room temp once spraying in a cold environment try keeping these paints in a syrene covered container to keep warm when in use.

    Good one, MN.....great camo scheme and easily done. You are right in saying that the dots made a difference to the scheme (from this side of the screen). I know why those items were omitted but ain't saying!

    I had Tamiya varnish that acted up in the same way on two of my models. Thought that I got a bad batch and got a new can of varnish. But same thing happened again. But I noticed that I had used the same (old) Tamiya paint on the two models, XF-58. Tested on another model that was painted with diffrent colour and the problem was gone. Don't ask me to explain it but I have my hobby room in my living area, so I don't think temperature was a factor.

      Hmm, that is strange! Good to know I'm not the only one for whom paint sometimes decides to do its own random thing!

      Have had something similar happen with Tamiya paints a few times when the paint would literally CRACK then start to peel for whatever reason once the paint dried. That happened way back in the 1990s when I was getting back into modeling. Still baffled as to what could have been the cause of that other than I did not know what I was doing - still do not know what I am doing!!!

    Camouflage? It looks like it would stick out like a sore thumb in the European theatre! Still, I am sure the German panzerwaffe knew their business.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  ปีที่แล้ว

      Apparently the Hinterhalt scheme was designed to help camouflage the vehicles in the dappled light of tree cover, as by that stage of the war Germany was largely retreating and trying to hide vehicles from air attack.
