Sokal just wanted to say a big thanks for your set up videos, im new to flying helis and apart from a toy coaxial i have never tried a collective pitch..So i brought a blade 400 and when i got it it needed a new main shaft and a few other bits..i tried to fly it, at least hover it but something went wrong and ended up buying new blades and another main shaft, so now thanks to your videos i have more confidence knowing its set up as it should be so now with my training arms im ready to try again.
Great stuff... I like this alot... one thing that I would change is to add a step to rough in the block early in the process. That way you are not repeating a lot of adjustments.
swash hight is based on collecive range if not equal once you set 0 pitch swash height is off. but usually at full pos the phase block is flush with the pins at the bottom or very close to that
Sokal, could I suggest one thing? I will anyway...It would help to have a measurement to start with in setting the swash plate in relationship to the head. Something to get in the ball park on swash height. There are a lot of moving parts and it needs to be easily read with a caliper... I chose from the bottom of a level swash to the top of the allen head bolt that goes through the shaft... this distance can be measured with the head on or off.. I believe that measurement to be 1.555 inches.
Hey Sokal The Allen wrench trick is cool but it does not tell you height of the swash plate. I wish there a listing of Swash Plate height for all heli's. that is why a swash plate tool is important.
the extra re adjustmants are to fine tune each heli rotor head is slightly diffrent even if i gave my mesurments it would be close but still would have to adj till its perfect
Hello - Great Video - Thanks so much! I followed along and had to set sub-trims of 50 on the aileron and 40 on the pitch to center the cyclic servos. Couldn't find a better tooth position with the arm. Is this typical? Thanks!
mine was messed up out of the box. i reset the head from scratch. alittle subtrim but just enought to center arms. but all in all thier great from factory. mine was made on friday i guess but with a lil tlc shes amazing. servos arent the gratest but will do in the begining stages.
Sokal - thank you so much for the videos. Good stuff. I'm trying to correct a right-aileron issue on my Blade 400. Looking at the Monitor on DX6i, I'm noticing the AIL and AUX markers are off center to the right with mid-stick on cyclic and collective. I have to go hard right stick to align. Any ideas how to get those to center? Also I noticed on this video that your THR indicator is far left with your throttle at mid-stick, while everything else is aligned. Is that normal?? Thanks
Ah, nevermind on the THR indicator far left.. you were in Throttle Hold. I still don't know why my aileron indicator is right of center when stick is dead center. Any ideas?
Hello good afternoon friend able to help me because I have a radio taranis I am not able to adjust the pitch on the heli I give command he only raises only one side of the dancer on the right side saw in your video q the pitch raises the set I'm from minas gerais belo horizonte minas gerais brazil ..
they are good servos as well but IMO not as good as the DS285's but light years better than stock. and yes the stock servos are to fragile for this app. once u have uped all servos and the gyro she is a whole new bird.

I think that all the adjustable links above the swash should have starting measurements too. Love Hear your reply.

any gyro will work as long as the servo ends match you aplication. id recommend you get a good gyro but if thats what you wana use

i ended up getting the hitec hs-65mg..they were quite a bit cheaper....sucks that the blade 400 just keeps on racking up more cost..

unfortunatly the stock servos are a lil fragile. the ds285 are great and the 287 are a lil faster but less torque both are a good buy IMO

you should ALWAYS disconnect motors no matter what....

i saw on another youtubers video...he used the jr DS287MG servos and ...thats what im going to try cause after one day mine are already bad..
