Absolutely superb video :) I've just completed my first build-from-scratch Align T-rex 500 3d which I grabbed off ebay for cheap... The mechanicals were easy enough, I've got a knack for that kind of stuff anyhow, but the electronics and the programming put me into overwhelm! Anyhow, with lots of advice from a friend who is two steps ahead of me, I was finally able to pull it off the ground for a hover inspection.. it flies! Not tracking right yet, learning how it all works, figuring out the pitch gauge, some improvements already but more tweaking needed, anyhow great video and very helpful for me. Thanks Man!

I'd suggest looking at the manual for the radio/rx you have to see which of the swashplate servos go into which channel on the rx. The servo directly in front (or directly behind) of the main shaft is usually plugged into the 'ELEV' servo connection and the other two are usually plugged into the aleron AILE and AUX1 channels. Make sure the swash type setting in the radio is the right one for the model you are setting up. It would help to know the model and radio you are using. Happy flying.
@johnnybio1, this is actually a Belt CP V1 Carbon edition. You can't get these any more as they have been replaced by the Belt CP V2 and the even newer Belt CPX. I bought this Belt CP from Heliguy dotcom (in the UK) but there are loads of online places that should sell the Belt CPX with the CNC pieces. If you are ok building an RC heli and setting it up you could also look at a Align 450 V2 copy from somethere like HobbyKing dotcom. A cheap way to get a great machine. hope that helps.

Great video! Somewhat of a shame there aren't more of these explaining in detail how more advanced stuff like this works. One part that always confuses me is making sure you've actually got the right servo plugged into the right spot on the rx. Another thing is some transmitters come with a bunch of swash mix types (mainly amount of servo's and their placement). Something to think about when for example your pitch servo suddenly acts like the elevator is supposed to and such. :) Cheers!
Good stuff. Would be nice if you could also go into the issue of binding when increasing the swash mix (too far). I haven't seen many good video's on that.
Excellent block of instructions Painless 360, I have an issue with my Aeolus 50 3D, whenever I engage the throttle stick , the swashplate tilts left and right and will no slide straight up or down, Up and down motion as everyone knows creates acceleration for helicopter to lift (hope that is not incorrect). I am going to try reversing servos to see if I can accomplish up and down motion of swashplate, thanks. I will post result on here later.
Wow! I found the issue that was bugging me as far as the vertical movement of the swashplate on my heli is concerned, I reversed the pitch channel as suggested and walla!! the up/down movement of the swashplate occurred, I am so excited, your video was quite helpful Painless360, thanks again.
No idea my spektrum manual only explains how to adjust mixing, expo, DR etc it doesn’t troubleshoot! I have a sneaky feeling it has something to do with my gyro, it’s an ace RC gt5.1 thing is the gyro manual doesn’t explain anything like this either, I’m really stuck I have been trying to fix it for weeks so much so I’m thinking about buying another gyro😔
I've not used Spektrum for a long time. If there is some form of flight controller on the model (flybarless unit?) then that could be the cause of the issues too. Best of luck with it..
Question, when me airelron is Moved from right to left it does not come back to neutral position,but hangs up a little to either side,I checked my linkages they seem to be fine. As I move the ailerons from Right the main blades starts to turn? I'm confused. I did notice one Servo running much hotter then the Great. 118 degrees f could I just have a bad servo,its a brushless One, what up with my ion 2 ?
A little Question. if you buy a rtf heli, is it possible that the swashplate isnt level because its "curves are preprogrammed? i dont mean when you throttle up cause that goes in an even way, but just when you connect the battery to the chopper, the angle of the swashplate seems to be tilting in the oppisite direction of the way the heli wants to pull because of torq! CAN SOMEONE ANSWER THIS?
Dude I'm stuck. Setting up a t-rex 450. My swashplate moves correctly with stuck inputs except, giving throttle only moves the pitch\collective servo. The other 2 servos don't go up. What should I look at?
How can I know which one is the aileron and elevator?! I can't understand, because at the receiver I know plug on right channel, but I don't know the diference at the swashplate... Please... Thanks!!
Hope you still monitor the Heli stuff... I want to experiment putting a Acro Naze32 rev6 in a Heli but there is not a single video on youtube about that. Perhaps its a crazy idea but I have an extra one and want to see how it will work. Any ideas or pointers? Thanks
+Collin Joseph Thanks for the idea but at the moment I'm not looking to do much with classic helis on the channel. Couple of pointers if you are looking to do this - vibration is a big problem on RC helis (even with balanced blades/head etc.) so you need to think hard about how to mount it. I have talked to someone who's used one of the new PixRacer boards on his heli with no vibration dampening and had no problems due to the new code/boards 4x sampling rates that allows it to 'see' through the vibration. Best of luck!

Sounds like there isn't a pitch mix setup properly on your radio. I'd start there.. Best of luck!
