Waldameer is a classic park. I miss going there as a kid. I hope y'all back in Erie realize what a special place it is - all those old-style rides and attractions that you just can't find many other places.
i’m 18 and i used to love going here. in the room with the rails i’d always duck under trying to race my friends through, and in the room with the barrels i’d find a little hiding spot and jump out to scare people. i probably went through it about 100 times
WOW ... does this bring back memories! Playland in Rye, NY had one very similar to this, bearing a rotating tunnel and Frankenstein in strobes ... dunno when they tore that one down, probably The '80s, but theme parks across the country sure need more funhouses ... they've all but disappeared, like the drive in. I'll bet they'd be popular again ...
It used to be better, I guess safety trumps over fun stuff. The area with all the bars used to be a maze going back and forth with the lights flashing. And the room with the stacked barrels... me and friends thought we'd give every one a scare and in that room would bang on those 55 gallons drums yelling up a storm. We ended up scaring the hell out of ourselves when a drum on top toppled over in a loud crash. As far as I know you can still see that 55 gallon drum over head to this day. As a reminder, don't be stupid and don't pound on those drums.
I was just in here yesterday... All i do is try and not touch the walls, because people pee on them, as established up there ^ but its still a fun thing lol
There's something about the dusty display boxes that haven't been cleaned in years, the garbled speaker boxes, and the stiff unnatural animatronic monsters they have that makes an old amusement part haunted house way scarier than the sum of its parts. A box of props more tame than your average suburban front lawn around Halloween might not seem like a scary thing out of context, but it ages like a fine wine.
Bill Keith I remember the water on the bridge, and I last went on it 5 years ago, they recently changes that part, had my uncle carry me half way through the cove xD
This is nothing compared to how it use to be. I haven't been in the Pirate's Cove since the early 90's but still I remember it being better back then. There use to be a rickety rope bridge with water beneath it, a mirror maze, more animatronics, more fog, and there was a hallway where you walked down a platform and the room rotated around you. It seems with every passing year everything gets worse; What we get for the money we spend, what politicians say we can or cannot do, you name it. Things just get worse and worse.
+Jim Garrison I remember the mirror/bar room has having a strobe light in it, which made it awfully hard to navigate...I think I hit my head a few times! They probably had to take the strobe down for safety reasons. But yes, that did make it "better"!!
the rope bridge is there. he focused the camera on the quicksand sign instead. he should have went through again and had the light on his camera to see some of the twists and turns.
Never been to Waldameer, but even before the movies came out Disney changed A LOT about the Pirates attraction to make it less "offensive." I was in CA in '86 and that was before they changed it. I've seen pictures and read how it was changed. Sad. :-(
i love the room with the bars and mirrors lol my friends and i wait in there and climb on everything and piss in the corner lol i dont my friends do i normally walk away :)

I went into pirate's cove 2 times back in my lifetimes
My favorite one!! I used to go in there all of the time and it was cool!!!
when i went today, it seemed to last FOREVER! I was ready to scream!
lol it was still fun :)
I go to Waldameer about like 20 times in when school's out. I live in Erie and I get the Season Pass so I can just go to ride just like 1 ride. =)

Was there yesterday. They upgraded and made slight changes to both Pirates Cove and Whacky Shack
monauraldaredevil they had water curtains in the whacky shack but people complained and took them out

heh heh, Carry On Wayward Son at the beginning. Good song and good fun house :)

I've been in the one at Trimper's Rides in OC. For some reason, their Vekoma boomerang coaster was a lot more fun than other ones I have been on...

I'm going to this next week!!!
The jail bars room used to have strobe lights.
Bill Keith Channel no it didnt
@@presleynicolia3119 It absolutely did, and it was the best part.
in the slanted floor room, you are supposed to grab the railing at the bottom and slide on the floor instead of going up and down the queue line.

6:27 camera ?
There's a variation of Pirate's Cove at Trimper's Rides in Ocean City, MD.
I walked through it last year. it didn't seem too bad. some parts weirded me out a little, others I found hilarious.

Considering that the ride gets older and older every year, and with a lot of moving parts, it's understandable that they would remove some stuff.
@@mindlesscargo Things can be repaired instead of removed.
Almost exactly the same as in 1970! We use to time ourselves and run through..... making sure not to bother any kids mind you.....
