Toccata in E BWV 566a played by David Hillary on the Organ of Sacred Trinity Church in Salford

This grand piece is thought to be an early work by the young JS Bach and shows a lot of influence of his idol, Dietrich Buxtehude. Bach was such a Buxtehude fanboy that he walked 200 miles to see him! There are two manuscripts for this piece, one in C and one in E, one called a Toccata and the other a Prelude. Other than that, it's the same. I generally play this piece at Advent and Christmas, hence the purple lighting. You might also spot one of our wonderful Ron Redshaw pictures.
