  • Everyone has struggled at some point in their lives with something others can’t see, but not everyone feels comfortable asking for help.
In this talk, Alessa is incredibly vulnerable in sharing her story with the intention of helping others. This talk is truly meant to be a gift to the audience to say it's beautiful and brave to ask for help. I had seen Alessa perform at our poetry festival when she was a freshman, and I always wanted to have a talk in the style of poetry at our TEDx event. When I told Alessa our theme was Reflection, she knew this was what she wanted to share. The mental health crisis continues to affect so many people every day, yet there can still be stigma and shame. Alessa's talk has the power to positively impact so many; we've heard about her impact since our TEDx event, and I can't wait for her talk to be available to a larger audience.
