Hearing Prince early in life led me down the path to being a musician. His guitar playing is so incredibly underrated, and his musicianship is second to none. Purple Rain live performances are one of my favorite things to watch.
I am so glad you liked this performance! P often kicked the mic stand and was k own to also throw his guitars. It’s a way of expressing his emotion….its ‘Rock and Roll… as P was known to say. 🎸
Prince would often throw down the mic stand at the end of performances. Examples include "Party Up" on SNL (1981) , "Fury" on SNL (2006) , and Super Bowl Halftime Show (2007).
Great request from Tracy. This performance gives me chills every time I see it. They are raising just one hand because that’s how Prince directs the audience in the movie and on his tour. He’s playing the guitar with his other hand so he only had the one to sway back and forth. The thing that always gets me about that part in this particular performance is that it’s the famous musicians in the crowd that are doing that sway. Not something you’ll typically see at an awards ceremony. Sometimes, I think the famous people like to portray themselves as too cool for that, but they couldn’t help themselves when it was Prince. Wish he was still here to give these epic performances 💜☔️💜☔️💜☔️
You know, I probably would have caught that if I actually sat down to watch the movie. Maybe one day when I'm caught up on everything (trying to stay 6 weeks ahead and responding to all the comments it hard sometimes). That's cool though how he was able to conduct the audience like that. And I guess everybody back then was there for a good time in addition to the ceremony
@@AceofBadeReacts the video for Purple Rain is the scene from the movie so that could be a shortcut way to see that part anyway. Of course, it’s at the end of the movie so parts of it won’t make sense without the context from the rest of the movie. We like providing answers to your questions anyway 😂
I know Prince is called the purple one but his favorite color is Orange I heard him say it in a interview! And maybe that's why they got orange back ground!
Thank you very much to TracyFace for the priority request
Prince is the best! R.I.P 💟☮️💔🎸🎶
I remember watching this as a kid just mesmerized. Many forget that the AMAs were bigger than the Grammys back then.
Yeah music videos were huge in the 80s because of MTV actually focusing on stuff that wasn't Rob Dyrdek.
Prince......The prof God exist....and love us normal human ppl

It's a wonder to behold
One of their very best albums
Especially extended versions of the songs. Hallway Speech version of Computer Blue is my favorite track from the album by far.

Yeah quite a few guitarists would smash their guitars, so that does make sense

Oh I see. I had no clue. That would explain the background. That and it also helps everything stand out
