Just so everyone knows, the gentleman's name is Andrew Ramroop.. Not Maurice. Maurice Sedwell is the store name.

@@thibautsimons9113 Maurice Sedwell founded the Maurice Sedwell store sometime in the 1930s or 40s, can't remember. Andrew Ramroop was an apprentice/employee to Maurice Sedwell. He bought the store from Mr Maurice when he retired.

I always thought that Prof. Ramroop showed incredible class, respect, and generosity by keeping the shop’s original name. And now he’s devoting his later career to educating a new generation of bespoke tailors. He is an extraordinary guy.

I had not really thought about all of the privacy concerns regarding those sensitive areas on the body and those measurements. It’s great to see you talking about respecting the customers personal space, making sure they are comfortable and not embarrassed.

I measure people a lot at my job, so I really appreciate you mentioning a lot of the trouser etiquette. Especially the waist measurement, lots of gentlemen don't want anyone to know they gained that Covid 19...
Listen in the beginning. He says 110cm for the jacket. Which is actually his true waist. Many men like to wear their trousers under their belly for vanity purposes. Even though it gives the Dunlop look, they like to think they have a smaller waist. Then later on he says he won't mention the waist.
True mastery in virtually any art is something to behold
I appreciate the fact he used a normal guy instead of a model for this. Sometimes it's hard to see yourself in a bespoke suit if your natural figure is not already flattering.
The costumer wanted a navy suit for war, and this kind man established his size while the costumer was square facing the mirror. Legendary.
I was trying to fall asleep and instead started laughing out loud.
This is why he is one of the world's best tailors..

Years ago I knew a tailor that tried to sell me a "bespoke" First he did the tape measure thing and I recall didnt do half what Mr M does. Next he grab a coat from the rack and said the suit will be ready in a few days!

His name is Andrew ramroop. Maurice is the name of the founder of the store but he passed away and Andrew bought it. He was an apprentice under Maurice.

I used to love everything that involved fabric and clothes, I lost it but now i m embracing my lost passion and this gentleman it is the best i could find to teach me something, a little bit from the vast world of clothing

Thank you for a very informative video! You did not comment on customer stance for these measurements. I noticed when you were taking the height measurement, the customer's ankles were not together and the heels were some 2 inches (5 cm) from the wall. Should the height measurement be taken with the customer in the same stance as for the other measurements?
I remember going into a store to have a custom fit pants and shirts, suit, when I was very young. I was dirt poor at the time. But I feltl like a million$$$ 😁

Always state only what you should do. Do not mention what you should not do. This is the first rule of instruction. As in negotiation never mention something you do not want to happen

What is that phrase "depth of size" ?
"Depth of scye". Where the "scyes" or "armscyes" are the holes that the sleeves will be attached to.

In America a waistcoat is a vest , our pants are their trousers, they have suspenders we have braces lets call the whole thing off. Your Butler would of course know these things.

He's originally from the West Indies but has lived in the UK a long time, so you can hear a slight Caribbean accent. It's really nice
