I should add that you can get natural black pearls from the black lipped oyster which is only found in Tahiti. These natural pearls are extremely hard to find and are therefore extremely expensive!
Susan Crichton although correct that natural black pearls only come from the black lipped oyster from the isles of Tahiti, they aren't that hard to find anymore. they are cultured just like the rest of the pearls in the world, and they sell between $70-85 normally where I work alone. normally the high price associated with them is because of the fact they are normally set in high quality gold (14-18k is average). If you are curious as to the most rare color, it is actually green as even though most oysters can create green, it isn't seen often at all. (I work in an all pearl jewelry shop and do openings daily, and set pearls daily)
Rachel Jones. A high price associate5with a black or gold, or even white pearl is due to when they're naturally made, not cultered. Mine were purchased years ago before the cost of gold skyrocketed, the 14mm black Tahitian and the 12mm gold are both set in 18k gold and cost approx $2000-$3000 each. My 30 inch strand of white natural pearls was over $1000 and that was 25 years ago. Big difference between natural and cultered.
I used to do this for a living by having house parties and opening oysters. Then my company would set the pearls in rings, earrings, and pendants. It was a great success.
I started out looking for the life cycle of fresh water clams to see if some were beginning to develop on a piece of drift wood in my aquarium. Now I've gone to deep into the mollusk side of TH-cam, and have the intense urge to have 12 oysters opened.
I didn't know pearls change and so many colors that was really amazing first time I've watched you this was shown five years ago I hope you guys are still doing what you love
I'm confused and new here?! I have questions 1.) there are different color pearls? 2.) is there certain rare colors? 3.) are each color of pearls worth some kind of money? 4.) why are random ppl getting a certain amount of oysters, are they fans? 5.) how do I get some?
Alison Aguilar if you go to the description and click the link and jewelry you get a free pearl. and you get a free pearl for every peice of jewelry you buy p.s. sorry for my spelling
I have never looked for a video on this, don't know why it was suggested to me but I'm staying here until it's over LOL you get the satisfaction of scratching a lottery ticket for some reason haha
Hello, first time watching and fascinating. I have two questions please, 1) does the oysters diet have an effect on the pearl's colour and 2) what happens to the oyster shells when you have finished with them?
I know most of those coloured pearls had to have been treated with coloured sands/powder/something as they grew but that doesn't stop me from wanting some! They're so beautiful! And I can't stop watching. It's oddly intriguing.
The pearls form from sand grains that get inside the oyster, they are like kidney stones for the oysters. It puts layers on top of the grain forming the pearl. The oyster usually has the same color for twin pearls because the color depends on the oyster's metabolism.
Girl ThatIsAGirl the only part while he explained it terribly that was a myth was the sand part. while a rather irritating particle of sand can cause pearl formation, it is usually a parasite, also he was wrong about the whole kidney stone but I've never heard that even as a myth. Most people know oysters purposely make pearls to isolate an irritant or parasite.

"Congratulations," "Yes, Carolyn, congratulations!" It's cute like they're wrapping up Carolyn's new babies in a little bag...It's like having a surrogate baby.
Meghan markle could tell u all about that😁
I should add that you can get natural black pearls from the black lipped oyster which is only found in Tahiti. These natural pearls are extremely hard to find and are therefore extremely expensive!
Susan Crichton. Just like a true gold south sea pearl....which I love. I love both!
Susan Crichton Yeah :)
I love how they act so serious like "congratulations" and TWINS.
This is my dream gift. My boyfriend and i live right off the atlantic ocean, and my dream is him getting me a real pearl on his own 💖
That'd be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Alex Ritesman haha, would be funny
Shelly got great ones
I used to do this for a living by having house parties and opening oysters. Then my company would set the pearls in rings, earrings, and pendants. It was a great success.
I started out looking for the life cycle of fresh water clams to see if some were beginning to develop on a piece of drift wood in my aquarium. Now I've gone to deep into the mollusk side of TH-cam, and have the intense urge to have 12 oysters opened.
I love the sound the oysters make when they get rustled around in the bowl

I'm confused and new here?! I have questions 1.) there are different color pearls? 2.) is there certain rare colors? 3.) are each color of pearls worth some kind of money? 4.) why are random ppl getting a certain amount of oysters, are they fans? 5.) how do I get some?

Hello, first time watching and fascinating. I have two questions please, 1) does the oysters diet have an effect on the pearl's colour and 2) what happens to the oyster shells when you have finished with them?
It’s like every once in a while they are like ‘’that one is stunning’’. Me “All are pretty all mine!’’
Damn your a day ahead then me
It's may 7, 2019
And its 11:28

I know most of those coloured pearls had to have been treated with coloured sands/powder/something as they grew but that doesn't stop me from wanting some! They're so beautiful! And I can't stop watching. It's oddly intriguing.
why is this so satisfying I want to turn it off but I cant

Emily & Co. samesies
The pearls form from sand grains that get inside the oyster, they are like kidney stones for the oysters. It puts layers on top of the grain forming the pearl. The oyster usually has the same color for twin pearls because the color depends on the oyster's metabolism.
ma SK why can't human stones be worth as much
La Dama del Caribe 😁I wish! I had so many kidney stones 💎
ma SK THATS A MYTH STOP SPREADING LIES
Girl ThatIsAGirl the only part while he explained it terribly that was a myth was the sand part. while a rather irritating particle of sand can cause pearl formation, it is usually a parasite, also he was wrong about the whole kidney stone but I've never heard that even as a myth. Most people know oysters purposely make pearls to isolate an irritant or parasite.
Daniel La Fosse wait so most of us are walking around with a neck full of parasites?!
I love the green and purples! Of course Purple is my favorite color congratulations!🎊🍾🎈🎉
