Great video. In your own personal opinion, which do you prefer, the Expedition Pack Down Hoody or the Rab Microlight Alpine? Both for warmth and personal feel?
Great video; thanks for putting it together. Between this jacket and the Rab Microlight Alpine Down - is there one you’d say is slightly better for daily winter wear?
@@OutdoorsMagicTV cheers and thanks for the helpful feedback. I'm also comparing against the Mammut Broad Peak IN Hooded jacket. Keep up the great work with the quality videos! Eddie
Wondering if you can tell me what the inside of the pockets are lined with? Same material as the outside of the jacket or is it some sort of micro fleece like is around the collar? (I personally despise that micro fiber fleece fabric like is used around the collar, it seems to be very "catchy" on my rough hands or in a beard)
How warm is this ? NYC winters are brutal ! Would this be warm enough to withstand 8hrs of being outdoors ? And I really prefer not to layer much , just my shirt and jacket on top of that
Thanks for a great review. I have considered to buy that jacket for a couple of weeks now, and it was great to see it on you. If you was to name just one alternative to this one, what jacket would it be then?
No problem. Glad you found it useful. Good question! It's kind of like the Arc'teryx Cerium LT but with a more durable feel to it. Both have the same loftiness to them. Quite similar to the Mountain Equipment Frostline as well, though that jacket doesn't have quite as premium a feel as this one does. Will
Thanks alot for your answer@@OutdoorsMagicTVI have checked the Arc'teryx jacket and it's def. a nice looking jacket - but I think i'll go with the fjallraven in this case. Thanks for your help.
I always worry ill ruin down jackets when I wash them.. I don't have a tumble dryer and my north face down gilert clumped horribly 🙄 any advice for drying? (Without tumble dryer) thanks
I've had bad experiences as well - so I try to avoid washing mine! Here's what I found on google: Place the jacket on a hanger and hang it up. You should put the jacket in a dry and cool place. If you hang your down jacket somewhere humid, it may begin to smell. Every thirty minutes, give the jacket a fluff. Take the down jacket off the hanger and shake it, massage it and gently pull the fibres. Repeat this every thirty minutes until the down jacket is dry. Air drying a down jacket should take about five hours. I'm not sure how effective that would be though to be honest. Sorry I can't be of more help! Will
I'd say that it would be worth bringing this jacket to a dry-cleaner, to have it professionally cleaned. Here in the US, it's typical $20 or less. i usually bring in jackets once a year, maybe in the fall before the winter. Call local places and ask if they wash down jackets - don't just assume every place does it.
Я стираю свой Fjällräven pack down jacket так . Стираю в стиралке, сушу, после этого раскладываю на ровной поверхности, застегиваю молнии, вставляю в рукав фен, включаю его и начинаю поколачивать пуховик массажной расчёской.. Пух равномерно распределяется по куртке...😊
West coast of the U.S? Or UK? I'd happily wear it through the winter when hiking on the west coast of Wales, though on the really cold days I'd want an extra layer. Will
I’m a huge Fjallraven fan, I own the Kiruna Padded Jacket and the Keb Eco Shell Parka. My padded jacket is warm but this seems like a warmer midlayer under my parka, and I’m excited to get this. Is the version you are wearing in this video the navy one? Thanks!
Yeh it's a good mid layer for those really cold days. I found it fitted really comfortably under my parka jacket. And yes, this one's the navy one. Cheers. Will
I own this jacket; I like it. Packable, warm, and nice fitting. I cannot however excuse the utterly cheap yellow shoelace material they use to cinch the hood. It's absolutely atrocious. It is literally a sneaker lace, not at all durable for years. It would be fine were it not for the inside bit thats got a knot and dangles with several inches of slack right across the zipper. It consistently gets caught in the zipper resulting in the cheap loosely woven material fraying like your cat's claw has pulled loose a shoelace weave. Additionally, for a jacket that will be work in winter, I am shocked at their decision to forgo zipper pulls. Even my several pairs of FjallRaven shorts all have zipper pulls, yet the jacket where you're going to be using the zippers with gloves on they decline to include them. Baffling decisions, these.
Ordering one now, I hope it will be enough for an east coast winter!
Was it enought ?
Great video. In your own personal opinion, which do you prefer, the Expedition Pack Down Hoody or the Rab Microlight Alpine? Both for warmth and personal feel?
how is the feather leakage? I have a few rab jackets and it's constantly losing feathers, annoying.
Great video; thanks for putting it together.
Between this jacket and the Rab Microlight Alpine Down - is there one you’d say is slightly better for daily winter wear?
I'd say this is slightly more hard-wearing than the Rab. Not much separating them in terms of warmth. Hope that helps! Will

@@eplaep Not tried the Broad Peak. Looks good though. Montane would be worth looking into too. Thanks a lot! Will

Where is the jacket made ?
Would you recomend this jacket or Montane Anti Freeze XT ?
How does this compare with the Montane Featherlite Down Jacket for hiking?
Great review! I'm heading to the store now to pick one up - they should send you some commission.
Thanks :-) Glad to hear you're going for it - it's a great jacket. Let us know how you get on with it.

I recently bought this from Amazon. 219USD. There are adjustment strings in the hand warmer pockets and don't know what they do. Can you enlighten?
Hi Mark. Do they pull them hem in around the waist?

I'd say this is a bit warmer actually. Will

What’s the color of jacket you are wearing on? It seems navy color at first but seems darker than product image of navy color.
Hey. It's the navy one. Will
I have the Black Version and its als more Black Navy But thats cool imo
Just ordered the same jacket in “ true red”
Awesome! The red one looks great.
@@OutdoorsMagicTV it’s great just wished it had a double zip tho...apart from that it’s very very good

I haven't personally tested that but I'd suspect this is much warmer and better quality. Will
