- This video is from acclimatizing on, and eventually climbing, the Solamatov Route on Khan Tengri, in August of 2024. Located on the border of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and China, Khan Tengri is the second-highest mountain in the Tien Shan mountains, and no mountain on Earth as high is as far from the Equator. More importantly, it's simply a beautiful mountain. One of Khan Tengri's two normal routes, the Solamatov Route would actually be a pretty hard climb to do in alpine style, but the copious fixed ropes make it a route routinely climbed by relative beginners. The simple phone clips were shot by myself, and the drone clips were shot by Kazakh alpinist Grigory Chshukin, while he was on Khan Tengri filming for @Jasa.universe / @Jasa.Global .
Colin posts: I stop what I'm doing and watch immediately. Just incredible stuff!
What a satisfying acclimatization. Unreal drone views of those ridge lines. Thanks for sharing the ups and downs of something so uniquely fun!
The drone is a game changer for arm chair alpinism. Most excellent. I couldn't help think that skis might have been nice at points.
Yes, a lot of the route would be nice skiing!
This drone footage could just lead to me quitting my job...
Colin, your videos are always such an experience. No fluff, just raw and completely about the journey. Always amazing stuff from you.
Babe wake up, New Colin Haley face shield just dropped
Congratulations Colin! Kyrgyzstan is so stunning!
Your videos are so authentic, so opposed to the dumb trends, that they really make me feel like I’m there. They are really exciting!
Can you make a video about the kit you bring on some of your different alpine adventures? That would be helpful for an apsriing alpinist.
+++, especially food and cooking situation at such conditions
You won't probably get a kit video from colin which is a bummer but for one if you need a video what your looking at is well beyond your ceiling. If your still interested you can find podcasts that detail what he does and how. Honestly most of it is pretty straightforward except for when we get to him soloing and doing things like squid solo, reverse soloing which is like soloing but you load the anchor like a rappel so you can pull the rope instead of rappel and cleaning your anchor.
There’s an old post from mid 2010s on patagonias blog detailing some of his stuff, still highly relevant because the stuff he was using mid 2010s is still great gear. Useful insights in that article as well
Absolutely epic drone footage, thanks Grigory for that aerial perspective!
You are welcome!
@@Grigoriy_Chshukin Awesome work man.
Thanks for sharing Colin. It has been great watching these last few videos. Thanks again.
Beautiful footage of your trip and the route! What a great destination, and climb! Greetings from Canada!
I appreciate your attitude of understatement. It's humbling.
thanks for sharing this video. I summited Khan over 20 years ago, also in August. You brought me so many memories, wow
Thanks for sharing your adventures these are amazing to watch
Thanks for posting, Colin! You're the best!
just something about colins videos is so special
Beautiful video, these drone shots are incredible. Khan Tengri is such a beautiful peak
Excellent work, unparalleled videography and compositions! Ixnay on the "rock climber motif" you mentioned in the video. You consistently do so much as a MOUNTAIN climber that all of us would be at a loss if you dropped it. Still, i empathize with you because those feelings always come high in the mountains when repeated adversity arises time and time again. Love your work!
What a beautiful place! Congrats on the summit. You should release a longer version of it! We want to see more!
incredible... youve got no idea how much your videos inspire me.
Congrats, what an effort, absolutely stunning.
Thanks for sharing this part of your journey with us, what an amazing place, thanks, helps a lot!
Hey Colin, we've met you on your way to C2 when we were descending from the summit, glad you made it!
I’m a weekend warrior amateur alpinist, but I draw a lot of inspiration from your work, Colin. Thank you for that. Funny coincidence, a few years ago I made a video climbing Mt Hood and skiing down and used the exact same playlist. Boards of Canada+climbing snowy mountains is like peanut butter+ jelly.
great editing, great music selection as always! love your vids.
Kudos Colin, you're a badass!
Lovin' the music taste too
Congrats Colin. I went till camp 3 via the normal south route, dig a cave with two friends just to discover that the gear I bring to Aconcagua was not warm enough in Khan Tengri. So I went down and end the expedition 😅
Excellent Video as always. Glad to see that you didnt have to dig a snow cavern this year!
awesome that you are uploading again
🇰🇿🇰🇿🇰🇿🇰🇿🙏🤗🥰 greetings from Kazakhstan. Welcome!!
dude i love your longer videos, i know its probably mad effort but i love watching like an hour long journey
Hope to see more content, keep it up ! :)
Beautiful footage!
As always awesome video!😍
Heck yes
inspiring stiff Colin, thanks for these great videos and sharing the experiences and the "can do" inspiration
Well done and WOW.... spectacular ❤
truly gods gift to alpinism. ty for documenting
Congrats for getting to the top!
I‘m not sure if you‘re aware but the low frame rate is pretty noticable when you‘re moving the camera over the nice view.
Beautiful shots, congrats on the summit
awesome footage!
Always so cool!
now with a drone, damn!
Biggest inspiration
incredible!
at 3:00 are those old fixed lines under the snow?
Looks like it, or maybe ... abandoned lines?
Yes, old fixed lines from years past. Pretty much any mountain where fixed ropes are used is like this...
Que bueno hombre! resembles K2, from a comfy sofa anyways.
Коллин? Ай А Бэтман 😂❤
Hahaha. привет, Алексей!
@colinhaley131 Горы Для Хороших Мужиков 🤣
Can we get a Colin Haley Spotify playlist?
So what kind of person is breaking trail for Colin? Who is that person and how do they do it? Sheesh
Yeah but did you hear they're charging $55 to park at this pass this year?
Can I ask about your nose and cheek guard? This is clearly different from what you've used in the past and looks like it would be really tolerable with how it's attached to your glasses rather than hanging from the ears like some other products.
It is the "facemask" from Evil Eye! www.evileye.com/fr/en/accessories/face-cover/os/1000
hell yeah i dream of shit like this
What kind of glasses are those my man?
Anybody know what nose/cheek cover that is?
It is this one! www.evileye.com/fr/en/accessories/face-cover/os/1000
So you climbed pobeda? :D
No, just Khan Tengri!
Met him, Colin is one of those pretty good athletes who thinks he needs to punch down at people. There are better athletes who are also incredible people, and for that reason Colin will mostly be forgotten once he can't keep up with the next generation.
It would be a Colin video without him contemplating his life decisions!
You are goat
This looks beyond dangerous but if the video is up, you survived.
Stay safe sir.
how many times does he cough? dude...
Have been dying going up to check out N face of khan tengri for years. @colinhaley how were temps?
Temperatures felt similar to Denali.
