      Amazing it's only the first year and have gotten res4 and 8, synapse , cotm, gt7, vertigo 2, NMS,Arizona 2, star wars, red matter 2, saints 2, switchback , kayak, demeo, crossfire, firewall, hubris, shadow legends, humanity, 7th guest, prop hotel and so many more. Best first year lineup of any headset ever. Year 2 looking great too Madison, wanderer, metro, aces of thunder, arken age, happy funland, cyube zombie army, behemoth and whatever other surprises along the way. It's an expensive hobby. You can also play Helldivers and all the flat library in the summer when too hot for vr

    Great conversation chaps. Been following you both for a while and I have Quest 3 & PSVR2 and feel both have good and bad points.
    I've got most of the decent titles on PSVR2 and if you already have a PS5 and either had the PSVR1 and enjoyed it or want to discover VR then it's easily worth the entry price.
    Today's birthday blog was encouraging and I hope they bring more PSVR titles such as Rigs, Astrobot Rescue Mission, Wipeout, Farpoint & Vr Worlds or even sequels.
    As GT said I would also like to see more immersion outside of the games so apps like TH-cam VR & home spaces like on quest.
    I don't understand why PS Home doesn't come to VR. Having a virtual apartment you could decorate with trophies and game mascots and invite friends over to watch stuff and chat would be epic. I used to love the Bowling alley with arcade machines and pool tables too and you could watch trailers and rent movies in the Virtual Cinema. So many possibilities!!

    from a pure tech standpoint PSVR2 is an incredibly good PCVR headset. 2K per eye, OLED, 120 hz, eye tracking and dual sense controllers! You just cannot get a PCVR headset that does all this for the price. If I had a PC and didnt already have an heasdset I'd go for PSVR2 hands down.

      I think PC support for PSVR2 will manifest in two ways, 1. Basically most people on PC who are into VR have their headset of choice already and probably a wireless one. 2. When support does drop it will be so ham fisted that it will create more aggravation than happy players. I just don't see people going out their way to buy a proprietary headset designed for PS5 for a PC, not enough to sell 50,000 more headsets.

      for 2K per eye and 120Hz you need a top PC with ~rtx4080 - 4090.
      All PSVR2 games very optimised.

    Today, on the one year anniversary of the release of PSVR 2, Sony announced it’s testing PC VR compatibility for PSVR 2, with plans to release some form of PC support for the headset this year.
    Now all we need is a wireless adaptor for psvr2 and then goodbye to to meta

    Maybe the plan for Sony is to release VR versions of 1st party IPs on both PC and PS5. Selling VR games to both markets could justify the development cost with a low install base. This also fixes the issue of the controls, hardware and eye tracking being supported on PC if Sony builds games with PSVR2 hooked up to a PC in mind. They could even make their own PC Storefront.

    I have PC and ps5, and was tempted by getting VR but when I thought I should get 2 of them for both devices it was a no. Now, if I could get one VR headset for both, it might be interesting. But still have to see how this will be actually implemented.

    Dynamic foveated rendering doesn’t magically increase the resolution of the headset, it helps to max it out on hardware incapable of doing it without. A strong enough PC would not need to use foveated rendering.

    Great interview, I could have sat through another hour of chat. For me as a PS5 owner with the old PSVR headset I feel that the price is a big issue. The lack of backwards compatibility doesn’t help either.
    When we heard that the PSVR2 was being released I thought this will be my chance to play Half Life Alyx. Sadly this looks like it was just a dream as I don’t see this ever happening. Sony hasn’t done a great job in promoting the headset. And as mentioned there is little to no chance of trying a headset in a shop. people are unlikely to be willing to spend well over £500 on a piece of hardware they can’t try before they buy.
    A revised headset with pancake lenses and a price cut would probably make me purchase. Otherwise I’ll wait this edition out. who knows if Sony will bother will VR after PSVR2….

  • @MrKinein
    @MrKinein 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great discussion!
    I want to note that difference in tracking shouldn't be the reason why PSVR2 is not backwards compatible. Because it is seperated in a different layer of abstraction (low level). Games know about coordinates and orientation of the headset one way or another. But, and that's a big but, PSVR 1 has special solution for dualshock, which allows 6 DOF tracking of it. And it cannot be represented in PSVR 2 in any good way. Probably there's several more details, but I see at as the main problem there. That's why it is almost impossible to port astrobot VR to PSVR 2 sadly

  • @dennisrogers6786
    @dennisrogers6786 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    What you guys don't realize is the PSVR 2 is the only one with HDR, so pancake lenses don't work with HDR. A lot of PC users want PSVR 2. and reasons are Haptic feedback, HDR which no other headset has and the most comfy one to wear. PSVR 2 is actually ahead of its time

    1) The blog wasn't worded weirdly at all, it just lacked some information. From the blog: "testing the ability for PS VR2 players to access additional games on PC to offer even more game variety in addition to the PS VR2 titles available through PS5." *More game variety in addition.* That means using PSVR2 to play games on PC that are not available on PS5. That is literally how it reads and there is no other way to interpret it. Just being able to play the same games would not mean more game variety in addition.
    2) The PS5 and PSVR2 but would they buy a PC thought doesn't make any sense: this isn't for those people, but those people would already have what they need for PC VR if they wanted to buy a PC.
    3) So everyone's rigs are different and headsets are different and will continue to be different when PSVR2 comes out, and somehow performance will be worse on PSVR2 vs whatever other headset you use on your PC... how?
    4) They do have stuff coming, this is just a smart business move to sell headsets and keep people using them. Keeping it relevant while they cook up their own exclusives. How does this news not sell more headsets? You can find plenty of people online saying that they weren't interested before, but now they're very interested and even saying they're going to buy it now.
    5) If they priced PSVR2 just under PS5, the exact same people would say "it costs almost as much as the console".
    6) Agreed that PSVR2 needs a big 1st-party franchise exclusive in VR to really get the ball rolling. The PC support news got it rolling slightly faster, but it won't really ever pick up more speed until we have that big recognizable 1st-party game or 2.

    I've been slightly disappointed in my psvr 2 since I got it a year ago. But this is coming from a pcvr perspective. The exclusives have been good like re4, re8, and GT7. But there isn't hasn't been anything else that really has brought me back. The colors are alright but the mura makes me just want to go back to my quest 2 pcvr setup. Ill definitely try to use my psvr 2 with my pc when that releases so I'm excited for that but other than that, not much.

      Hope that you're enjoying it.
      If you're attaching it to a PS5, you'll need an extra cable that's available on Amazon, but besides that , you should be good to go. There are some great experiences on PSVR 1 from Beat Saber to Synth Rider, and Walking Dead: Saints & Sinners. Because it's your 1st VR system, you might want to take Dromamine for motion sickness before you play. But I hope you have fun.

    psvr2 working on pc could make studios to consider more having a version for it. Since games wouldn't be exclusives to pc ? Why not releasing it to psvr2 ? assassins' creed for example. There is also lots of piracy with pc games and not for ps5. If you dont have a super pc you can use cloud to compute the heavy games. Cheers

  • @paulnicolas172
    @paulnicolas172 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The idea of pc support for psvr2 that Sony is testing out right now would be great for psvr2 owners and would certainly help boost headset sales for Sony but is a good move for Sony in terms of sales of its software ? One reason it could create scope for hacking etc and piracy ? Eg people could buy most the games that have been ported over to psvr2 a lot cheaper on pc or even pirated/cracked games for free then why would they buy them from the PlayStation store unless they were PlayStation exclusive titles ? Also , even though there might be more headset sales as a result of this move , wouldn’t that reduce the amount of PlayStation 5 sales as people who would of originally bought the ps5 mainly for the vr content could now use there existing pc’s for this rather than forking out another 500 odd for a console as well ?
    I personally think it’s more likely there would be a steam streaming app on the ps5 than pc connection as I think in light of above it would be more beneficial for Sony .
    But only time will tell

    Still love my PSVR2.
    All the exclusives are awesome. GT7 in VR is next Level. I have over 550 hours in this game and 450 of these are in VR.
    Love this in VR.
    I also have a PSVR1, Reverb G2 and Quest2 but PSVR2 is my main headset right now.
    I really miss some PSVR1 games though.
    Sony... Please bring us wipeout and RE7 for PSVR2
    The possability to use PSVR2 on a PC is interesting.
    Maybe a solution for my Reverb G2 Problem.

      Nailed the ones we really need: WipEout and RE7. I placed pretty high in a bunch of leaderboards in the first game of the collection and only played a course or 2 from the other games, so I have unfinished business with that one. It's such a thrilling game. If it came out today I'd be grinding a ton of courses from days on end trying to get a high placement and loving it.

    It's an incredible piece of hardware but the biggest barrier is the whole motion sickness from playing games in VR. That's the only reason I never bought Gran Turismo. Some of these games just get too intense. I've tried forcing myself but can't cope with it. Even the Star Wars gets me sick when using teleportation 🤦🏽‍♂️.

    PSVR2 is treated similarly to Xbox….comments from people who don’t own one or never tried one and just automatic bad-mouthing. I’ve had mine since launch and have bought over 40 games on it. There is no shortage of great games to play.

    I had a ps vr with a PS4 pro, loved it and sold the VR to get the VR2, bought a PS 5 then I’ve not bought a VR2 due to lack of backward game compatibility, lack of VR worlds like experiences and after the launch bangers nothing to entice a £450 investment, software software software sell’s systems a drip feed of AA titles doesn’t and I don’t like shooters so 70% of catalogue I’ve no interest in can’t Sony spend some money on getting more third party games on PS VR which are not shooters.

    In my opinion - biggest Playstation mistake - releasing exclusives on PC, all my friends sold PS5 and play only on PC today. No need buy any subscribtions to play online, steam regional prices, and - Playstation exclusives in better quality of course! Dualsense are work excelent.
    And for what they (Playstation top managers) do that?) For money?).. Well, hope top managers of Playstation dont be surprised when they see bad sales of Playstation consoles. All gamers come to PC (you can see everyday growing Steam players each day, each month new records), so if that they (Playstation dudes) want - good work.
    And soon - PSVR2 on PC!)))))))

      @@stefandinu6389 It really is. It's probably my favourite PSVR experience I had, and the free Playroom VR game was also really fun and is one of the only VR games that has local multiplayer, and the fact there's nothing like that for PSVR2, no Playroom, no Astro game, no demo disks, just a handful of overpriced licensed games like Horizon: Call Of The Mountain or Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy's Edge, is one of the reasons it's not that popular.
