Completely agree. His new stuff is BRILLIANT -he is still utterly brilliant. Can't believe he lost rights to some of his music. Makes me angry that that happened; not sure that it still does. Anyhow, saw him play with the newer PFunk crew in Melbourne two nights ago. It was electrifying. George also has tremendous charisma -on top of being a genius musician. Actually got to meet him -along with a bunch of us. Bought Garry Shider Junior's CD that he was selling after the concert, (pretty sure he was the guitarist on Maggotbrain which I absolutely loved hearing) say to someone that George would sign anything or talk to you if you go out by the back door. Well I went -and luckily I poked around further back, since they were exiting where there was a locked gate - and RIGHT then, George Clinton walked out. Started filming with my mobile and he took a couple of photos with some fans -I was too shy (dammnit) but I said i loved the performance. He was really interested in saying hello, which, again, just makes him awesome even more. He is the real deal. Even though he's in his mid 70s still thought he was attractive -must be the brilliant creativity. Just amazing

Absolutely insane! Class is in session! I grew up in the "D" on this funk! My soundtrack to life along with Motown and the real music and musicians of this era. Funk was at a all time high during the 70's and 80's. Dancing the night away with limited worries. Thank you lord for allowing me the opportunity to experience this era!

YES! This was the tour I worked for them on the road crew. Some amazing opening acts. There was this new "group", just three guys, that opened a few of the shows on this tour, they were in the genre of rap that had just moved from an urban setting to across the nation. Joseph, Daryl and Jay, Run DMC!
saw this show in st louis same year they didn't get on stage until 1 in the morning. funk early in the morning. like a ham hock in your corn flakes!!!!
YBHJLH that's so true skeets had the fusion bass covered in p-funk. But the combo of skeets and Dennis chambers is what really did it. Fusion on top of the funk!!

It could have been a Parliament song, there's a unreleased Parliament album from 1982. The P Funk All Stars album was a load of tracks from albums that weren't released. Catch a Keeper was meant for the Brides 3rd album that was meant to be put out on Uncle Jam.

It was basically an answer song to Sly's Hot Fun in the Summertime. And yes, it seems to be more like a Parliament ballad----like Wizard of Finance, more than a Funkadelic track. It's one of my all-time favorite songs, maybe the very top of the list. The album version is better than the single they released to radio stations. That extra minute is well worth it!

Agree, "P-Funk" where one of the best and most imitated rhythm sections of that era.
Dennis Chamber actually played drums, on many of the SugarHillGang tracks, and the patterns where originally developed while touring with P-Funk.
First time I ever seen him perform this one. And I got it on cd too. George always gives up the funk! 🤘
