In today's wow classic video we discuss how to aoe kite using cone of cold for gold farming / powerleveling on your mage! To really get down the skill you need to get out there and practice it, but there's some little tips and tricks that I try to give you in this video that may help expedite your learning process! Cone of cold kiting is crucial to a lot of gold farms and really is useful once you learn it. It's also a great strategy to level up in accompaniment to blizzard!

One thing that was glossed over that might be helpful is that when you're strafing the mobs predict your position and try to intercept it, when you're moving forward or backward without strafing (w or s) they "follow" rather then predicting. What this means is while strafing they're essentially following a "you" thats like 3 yards ahead of where you currently are, but when walking normally they follow your actual path.
This is why gathering them up by strafing left and right is very good because it exaggerates how far they move left and right to gather back up in the center, and its also why they can catch you if you strafe at the wrong time since they'll have less distance to run if they're aiming for a point a few yards ahead of you, then if they're aiming for where you "were" essentially.
Basically if you want the mobs to move quick, strafe, if you want them to follow you like they're /f, w or s.

Hey man great video, is there any chance you could do one covering when walking and leading mobs, for instance in Mara the jump turn CoC? I can never get it to hit, if it does it hits half, and if I hit all i tend to get hit pretty hard. So I am not sure what I am doing wrong, but im sure I am not the only one who is struggling with that. Keep up the great work!

Can you post your addon that tells you how many mobs you are hitting with cone-of-cold? That seems very helpful. One of my problems when trying to do some of your farms is that I am jumping and spinning and casting Cone of Cold to try to slow some mobs, but I don't think I'm hitting any (even though they are beating on me). But I can't tell for sure because the camera is moving so fast. Your addon would really help with that
For the ZF farm at 60, I've found that the solo GY leveling strat works just as well if not better than the CoC farming for the GY. You finish killing all of the mobs like you normally would solo farming ZF GY 42-54, jump off the wall and loot the graves, run back up and loot the mobs, then go kill scarabs. This takes about 12 mins, so you will be hitting the lockout timer every hour.
Im still pretty new to mage, how is he getting mana back all the time? is that a talent?
Hi what addon are you using to display the debuff on the enemies over their health bars and how do you get your weak aura to have that blue color to it depending on which of the shields you have? Can you share your specific WA string that lets you do that
For me the 1st google search result was that specific WA he's using. There isn't really much WAs for this.
David Nagy I have the barrier WA but his has color coordinated blue hues depending on if it’s ice barrier or mana shield and I can’t find that one.
Check out my addons video where I describe how to do it. Go to /wa -> NAN shield -> conditions tab -> change the colors based on the corresponding damage type
@@arlaeus9491 what about the addon that has the cone of cold and freeze nova icons above enemy healthbars. Is that modern targetframe or weakauras2? You didnt get into this specific icon part in the video, thanks for your help your videos are great!

Is this viable as a leveling strategy vs using Blizzard? It seems like it could be faster, since if you have 5 points in Ice Shards and Shatter, it would be a bit quicker? Might be better in open world grinding on PvP realms, too, since Shatter could help you win a fight if you get ganked
Yup it is a viable leveling strat!
I found resists on CoC usually made this stressful for me over say the blizzard method

i prefer this way for aoe farming & just blizzard when you get clearcast
Why are you so much faster than them once they are CoC'd? I don't move nearly that quick.
