Clarification: The LCD can sometimes stick to the digitizer so make sure that when you loosen the adhesive that you're on the right layer - I made the mistake of going around the corner on the wrong layer and destroying my digitizer cable, but this video was still an immense help, thank you!

I have replaced the screen on the iPhone 7, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was. With the 8 and later it got harder as they introduced adhesive for the waterproofing. But if working with adhesive doesn’t bother you, the iPhones are still very repairable.

Hey I just wanted to drop in and personally say thank you, my son needed to replace his switch screen and we used your video, followed it step by step and everything worked like a charm. And not only did we have an awesome time doing it together, but now my 10 year old knows how to tear down a switch and put it back together on his own. I cant thank you enough man, but the least I can do is like, sub, and turn on notifications. Thanks again man, my kid is back to his cave now that his switch is working again.. probably won't even see him until next summer. lmao

For you guys who only have scratches on the side from cause of the dock you can do what I did by just putting a glass screen protector on it. It hides the scratches unless you are looking very closely at it but for the most part it looks good. Even with lighting, the scratches are hard to see

The oled screen doesn't fit in the normal switch housing, so if the conector is the same, and the board layout of the switch oled is the same it might be possible by changing all the housing for the oled housing, it would be cool, if the motherboard was exactly the same, i personally preffer lcds couse are more durable, a oled screen will last maybe 6-7 years, a lot of vita screens are dying nowadays due to being oled, i use consoles forever, i mean i'm still playing gameboy games in my gba sp, so i preffer durability rather than a bit better darks, if you don't compare them is not even notizable

So I screwed up pretty bad. I have a first run Nintendo Switch that has seen some wear and tear. A couple months ago it started overheating in dock mode and the shell started falling apart. I ended up getting a new Switch for myself and my niece was thinking about buying one herself. I told her about the “damaged” one I had and she asked if she could just have it. I obliged but little to her knowledge I ordered some replacement parts from China including a new more powerful fan (according to the listing), new screws, and front and back Shells. After a few months I finally got the parts and I swapped everything out, everything looks and sounds great until the moment it comes to turn on the console and test it. There is no display on the LCD screen, the backlight turns on, the digitizer works, and the console Switches to TV mode when placed in the dock but there just seems to be a problem with displaying an image when in handheld mode. I think maybe I damaged the LCD with my heat gun during the tear down process or maybe one of the ribbons got damaged so I ordered another LCD screen to replace the current one. I just finished replacing it (carefully) but I’m still having the same problem. Any info you could provide on what could possibly be the issue and how I can get this fixed for my niece I would greatly appreciate it. She is a good kid and deserves a new console herself if I could actually find one but I want her to at least have a fully functional console. Thanks in advance -DadPlayingGames

I know this is an older video, but I’m going to be attempting this tomorrow. Whenever I repair hardware, I always remove as little components as possible. So I was wondering, is it really necessary to remove the joycon rails to change the screen? The camera angle made it difficult to see where the ribbon cables were attached, so I can’t tell if they were really in the way.

Thanks for the great instructions! Took me 4 hours but I finally managed to do it and it looks great now! I damaged the left speaker port a little as I pried too deep. Had to use a hammer to hit it back somewhat into shape. My old LCD screen which is damaged is also stuck to the digitizer, when I tried to pry it apart it cracked into many pieces. It's fortunate that I had a new LCD as I'm doing a LCD swap and not a digitizer swap.

What to do when you replaced the digitizer and the touch screen does not respond in the middle of the screen? More people have this problem after replacing the digitizer or game card slot!! I have gone through 5 digitizers, only to find out that it has to do with the game card slot.... This is the most frustrating repair I have ever been through. The digitizer and game card slot seem tied from the factory, it seems to me that it is useless buying aftermarket digitizers or game card slots as this is a lottery of getting compatible parts. The question for me that remains is: HOW do you get a compatible digitizer and game card slot that actually fully work???

Got the digitizer replaced with eaze! But however every time the switch is turned off and back on, only the outside registers inputs. Only way to get it to work again is to unplug the new one, plug in old one, reboot with it plugged in, then plug new one in again. Only works until system is power cycled then i have the same issue. Any ideas of what this issue is? Obviously youve dealt with lots of these so you mustve had this issue before

im not an expert on this topic but why does the plastic panel have a ribbon cabel? is this for the touch input or what purpose does it serve?
my other question would be: shouldnt one be able to manufacture a glass panel with that ribbon cabel on it? then one could swap the plastic screen for a glass one to reduce scratches.

    • @Tronicsfix
      @Tronicsfix  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

The top plastic panel? That's called a digitizer and yes it's for touch input.
I'm sure one would be able to manufacture one made of glass if one had a manufacturing facility. The tradeoff is that it would break way easier. Since this is a handheld I'm guessing Nintendo would rather make a console that is less likely to break.

This wasn't an actual repair. I put the same digitizer back on. If the adhesive is in tact and isn't dirty or anything then you may be able to use it again, but it won't be as strong as fresh adhesive. You can search Amazon for ipad adhesive and that would work fine.

I broke a piece of plastic off one of the covers that holds the cables. Now the cable is able to connect and be able to be held in place by the lever that the plastic has but now a section of where the plastic part covered shows the metal lines it once covered. The switch works fine and I haven't played with it long. So I wanted to know if there would be a long lasting effect because of the missing section of the plastic?

This helped a lot! Needed to replace a digitizer that had been severely clawed up by getting lodged down the side of a recliner. Removal was a breeze and everything seemed tip top shape! However, the digitizer has a GIGANTIC deadzone that takes up all but the outer edges of the screen. Bad digitizer? Bad board component? The ribbon cable and where it plugs into looks completely undamaged.

    • @Tronicsfix

      @@Tronicsfix :
Physical games and headphones work fine, but it still very well could be. I've yet to return it to my friend, but none of the games on this switch rely too much on the touch controls. The digitizer fits rather snug even without the use of accompanying double sided tape, so I left that out if my friend wants to try again it should be a rather simple swap out.
