No lie, I was at that show. After they went to commercial break, Joel threw that book out into the audience and I caught it. It’s in my office right now. Awesome night.
That's either the greatest strangest lie I've ever heard or worthy of extreme jealousy. Either way, congratulations. Probably sounds sarcastic but seriously, congrats.
uh Community was such a great show, even some of the later episodes are still better than a lot of other comedies out there. When people were "blew away" by that black mirror episode in which social media and rating controls people's life, I was like, chill, ever heard of meow meow beans ?
True story: I once had a conversation with Joel McHale on the set of community after he showed me the craft services snack closet and I asked him how actors stay so physically fit when they have all this free food on sets and he gave me a smart alec answer and said, "we just don't eat it." For me at least I have no self-control when it comes to food so that would be hard for me.
I could make a drinking a drinking game for every time Stephen asks a question, Joel answers wittingly, and then gives the real answer just check for everytime he says "no, uh..."
You know what? Maybe we all need some space, to pull the knife out of the back of the most celebrated Canadian alt-rock band of the mid 90s, you selfish, jaded, ass!
De Libertatem unfair they have what looks like a million Kardashian shows and only a handful of non-Kardashian shows and E! News doesn't count because they mention them EVERYDAY. They need more variety and The Soup gave them a little of that but they had to cancel it, I don't even watch the channel anymore now
As long as I live I'll never understand laugh tracks. Why? Just WHY? Who made that call? And who the fuck KEEPS making that call? Ruins so many shows. I know when to laugh thank you very much indeed. Not like shows need it to be funny either. Big Bang Theory would be 1000 times better without it. Pulls the entire real life feel away from anything, character 1 says a line pauses for 5 seconds says his second line pauses for another 5 seconds that isn't how people talk goddamnit.. Sorry for the rant xDD REALLY needed to get that off my chest.
Big Bang Theory is filmed in front of a live studio audience. The laughs are coming from real people who are genuinely laughing. No modern sitcom has used a laugh track for a long time. Their live studio audience is roaring with laughter after each scene because if the scene as written isn't getting the laughs the writers want, they will rewrite the scene to be funnier.
myztikrice Yeah I obviously know all that it doesnt change the fact having laughs in the background is dumb as hell. Shows can be plenty funny without it. I'd enjoy big bang theory 100 times more without it. Only time you should hear a studio audience laughing is on a late night talk show. That should be the only place.
Echoing what JuhnaNemiko said, it is awesome to have clips like this accessible as an international audience. Being in a country where videos get geoblocked, it sticks in my mind that I am able to watch most of Colbert's and CBS' show for free on TH-cam.
Whoever gets to sleep with Joel McHale is a lucky woman. Wish The Great Indoors was better. Joel McHale, Chris Mintz-Plasse (however you spell it) AND Stephen Fry and that's what they came up with? They're all way better than that.
He's coy about his college football career, and he maybe didn't play as much... but he was on a Rose Bowl winning college football team. That's not nothing.
I just watched the first bit of "how can you be fit and a comedian bla bla" and I only realized after the fact that I would have been livid if the guest were a woman. Talk about an internalized double standard :/ I love this show but it was just a thought.
No lie, I was at that show. After they went to commercial break, Joel threw that book out into the audience and I caught it. It’s in my office right now. Awesome night.
Awww lucky!!

OH MY GOD EVEN HIS SHADOW! LOOK AT HIS SHADOW!!!
What time stamp tho idek what you're talking about
@@ninjantman6510 it's a community reference
This interview was lovely. Such fresh energy! Nicely Done Jeff!
Joel McHale's sarcasm is so advanced that the audience doesn't get that he's joking about 50% of the time.
Joel's energy is off the charts
You mean streets ahead?
"When you are in a sport that no one watches, you have to make up rituals to make yourself feel better" Truer words were never spoken.
I can't believe how funny McHale is - I was already a fan of his TV work but just how sharp he is!
Joel McHale is so funny. You guys clicked amazingly. Hope to see more of him in the show.
I miss community

I played this game and now I'm wasted, I slept with my ex, and I don't know where my car is.
Lowkey sounds like a great time!
After so many years making fun of comedies with laugh tracks on community, and Joel lands on CBS
#sixseasonsandamovie
MusgoHBA #andamovie
Joel McHale & Ryan Reynolds movie anyone??
Sign. Me. Up.
I second this notion!
Happy for Joel. Always be in my heart as the Soup presenter
Feels weird to see Joel in a sitcom with a laugh track.
It's funny he seems a bit embarrased to have gone from Community to a generic laugh-track CBS sitcom
Taylor Smith True, not many comedies hold up against that. Arrested Development is one of the only ones I can think of
Matt Rushton 30 Rock and The Office also
@@moneeraarabic Parks and Rec and Brooklyn nine nine
I MISS JEFF WINGER
two witty funny men talking together! bless
RIP The Soup. Long live The Soup and Mankini!
I loved Joel McHale in Community (First?)
That Big Bang Theory joke lol
The Barenaked Ladies anyone?
The Barenaked Ladies are triple Platinum. Are you?
maybe BNL has 2 billboard awards to your zero!
Oh, OK, they’re BNL now? We need a shorthand for The Barenaked Ladies? That’s how fundamental they are.
You know what? Maybe we all need some space, to pull the knife out of the back of the most celebrated Canadian alt-rock band of the mid 90s, you selfish, jaded, ass!
This is a fight! We are fighting!
I miss the Soup so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Joel’s a firecracker my goodness 🤣 also good on him for standing up to hazing
Joel Mchale's talents are wasted on some crappy multi camera, laugh track sitcom. They should bring the soup back goddamn it.
As long as I live I'll never understand laugh tracks. Why? Just WHY? Who made that call? And who the fuck KEEPS making that call? Ruins so many shows. I know when to laugh thank you very much indeed. Because they don't use laugh tracks. If a scene isn't getting laughs they will rewrite it on Big Bang Theory.
myztikrice I don't get what you mean that makes no sense to me..?
Big Bang Theory is filmed in front of a live studio audience. The laughs are coming from real people who are genuinely laughing. No modern sitcom has used a laugh track for a long time. I love Joel, so I'm gonna give this show a chance.
"The Great Outdoors" was a great comedy classic with Dan Aykroyd and John Candy. "The Great Indoors" is the new show. XP
Pampered Duchess I knew someone commented on it. lol...
Nnamdi Nwoha Someone had to say it. xD
Pampered Duchess And you did good...xD
Joel has everything. He is funny, so beautiful and sweet❤
Jon Batiste and Stay Human killed that intro.
His VGX gig was great.
Stephen barely held together at that Matt Leblanc poking from Joel lol
Felipe Cunha I definitely agree, he's so much wittier than James Corden and would fit better
i feel so seen watching Joel constant sarcasm
7:02
Saw Great INDOORS last night, really funny
HE ROWED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON???? The average person doesn't know this but you have to be incredible to be recruited by UW
How many people looked up Colbert's age after watching this?
Love me some Joel McHale, but I'm getting real tired of CBS Studio Comedies.
HIMYM was the platue show. Best ever and no better since.
joel mchale is literally perfect in everyway🥵🤤
He is so fun!
Stephen said "The Great Outdoors", Joel's show is "The Great Indoors".
yes, if you see it till the end, they mention it...
Good sales.for new book.
Now give Spider-Man that fucking loan
Darth Connery At least give Aunt May the toaster.
Joel McHale's little "no" at the very end :')
Stephen doesn't go down those two steps when his guest is taller than him lol
I need Joel in me
Even his shadow! Look at his shadow!
ExileOnDaytonStreet I see what you did there, LOL
"Having Jeffrey inside of me only brought out the worst in me."
I love both these guys...but did anyone else find the interview slightly, I dunno, disjointed?
Cocaine shenanigans
"We love you Bing!
-No!"
Don't forget also that UW has world class Olympic-Gold winning rowing teams.
Great interview!
JOEL, you are the best natural comedian!!
I think its pretty clear the Great Indoors is gonna be HUGE.
6 seasons and a movie, but im only saying that out of obligation.
Close your eyes and it sounds like Colbert is interviewing Weird Al.
I love how sarcastic Joel is hahaha he would be annoying to be around for 24 hours tho! But small samples would equal a great buddy
Stephen Fry, the opposite of Bing Crosby
a laugh track... that's how you know the show is going to tank..
I miss Community but The Great Indoors deserved better too.
Echoing what JuhnaNemiko said, it is awesome to have clips like this accessible as an international audience. Being in a country where videos get geoblocked, it sticks in my mind that I am able to watch most of Colbert's and CBS' show for free on TH-cam.
For geoblocked contend use the Opera browser:
it has a build-in (free) VPN-option.
Just activate VPN & choose the country (USA).
Whoever gets to sleep with Joel McHale is a lucky woman. Wish The Great Indoors was better. Joel McHale, Chris Mintz-Plasse (however you spell it) AND Stephen Fry and that's what they came up with? They're all way better than that.
As a rower, I have even more admiration for Joel than I did after six seasons of Community. Didn't think that was possible. Good show, sir.
Is it just me or his hands are enormous?
such an unapologetic narcissist hahaha
looks like a good show
So, the Great Indoors is basically a show about Outdoor Man? Last Man Standing but without the family aspect, I'm guessing.
Stephen Fry?! How can I see this in the UK?? :D
Classic Winger.
maannn whats the song they playn when Joel entered the stage?
I watch this at least once or twice a year just to hear "Screw you, Bing Crosby!"
is that mclovin?
Yep
WTF no
in the clip, yes
GREWAT!!!!Great!Gr8 :)
Wait, they got Stephen Fry for that?
Another unintended effect of Brexit, all British actors are on sale.
lol I now know why this is 10 minutes long. Lots of jokes inserted in between answers. Funny jokes, though.
UW represent
I love that funny, sly jab at Donald Trump there
Its Mc Lovin !
shulada de joel Mchale
Step 1: Get hair plugs
Forehead
fivehead
Joel says "no, uh" so much. Like way too much.
6 seasons and a movie
What did Bob Hope do?
this show sounds like community....in a company
lately seems like nobody wants to hug Stephen lol
0:4 but... its the great IIINNNdoors...
total misfire on this interview. they seemed like they honestly wanted to connect and just missed. Also fsck the Bing
The soup was my mf show!
but the clip from Great Indoors looks just awful
#andamovie
He said the name of the show wrong lol
McLovin??
Joel acts ashamed of his new sitcom lol
Dawg
Joel McCale?
Is blue the only colour in the show's wardrobe of suits? Is it because it's an election year?
Holly White It's trendy.

He's coy about his college football career, and he maybe didn't play as much... but he was on a Rose Bowl winning college football team. That's not nothing.
ExileOnDaytonStreet He said he was on the practice squad. Meaning not the team.
I just watched the first bit of "how can you be fit and a comedian bla bla" and I only realized after the fact that I would have been livid if the guest were a woman. Talk about an internalized double standard :/ I love this show but it was just a thought.
He's weird.
Can we get some scientists back on the show or people like Elon Musk?
I would love to see Ayah Bdeir on the show. She has been really invested in making a better world by teaching STEAM to kids.
kinda looks like bill burr
