  • What an amazing way to close our adventure in Mexico earlier this year. We dove at a secret Cenote in the middle of the jungle in Mexico guided by legendary cave explorer ‪@robbieschmittner9781‬.
Special thanks to ‪@JoshCantu‬ for the epic filming and editing work.

✨Josh?!! Oh my goodness it’s such a small world! I’ve been watching you for quite some time now. You did a fantastic job on this short doco! I can only imagine how breathtaking it must’ve been to experience this dive. My only experience is scuba diving the great barrier reef when I back packed Australia for three weeks~ I was in my mid 20s and had the time of my life! The giant clams were absolutely gorgeous, yet once you tickled their lips, they quickly slammed shut. Something I’ll never forget; a trip back is definitely on my bucket list. Take care Josh I hope your and you’re beautiful little family are healthy and doing well😊

This is one of the great things about technology! Even 'simple' things like haloclines used to be hard to capture on camera. Now, we get to appreciate the beauty of caves in HD. I also like the advances in 3-D imaging that allow caves to be mapped and modelled, so non-divers can do things like virtual exploration. Plus those combined with other geophysics sometimes allow explorers to find new passages and caverns. Plus answer a lot of other important questions, like understanding the hydrology. There are a lot of places with haloclines, and there are risks that if too much fresh water gets extracted, aquifers become saline. So being able to measure that depth and volume is a huge help for water conservation and management.

Just breath taking. The only bummer is that I feel like there is a countdown timer for me to build the skills and get full cave certified so I can experience these spectacles before they are polluted or destroyed.
I heard Robbie on Speaking Sidemount with Steve Davis, and he just seems like a gem of a person to have as a personal cave guide. World class cave explorer and a scholar to boot, like the warrior monk of cave diving.

I've only snorkeled in lakes and the coast. Swam past the forth break and rip tides behind every break on some diagonal waves kept me out for fourty or more minutes, no jacket, and thought I was going to die, for real. It was staying calm and not giving up saved me. I ended up next to a trunk of a tree in the lake and looked up to see a Christmas tree of lures, down about twenty feet in green water. In a cove about 15-16 water moccasins swam under and over me a couple sliding across my chest and back. Theres more stupid trick from me on one breath, but " remain calm" was the key in all situations. I would definitely do cave diving.

Yes during the last ice age the water levels were about 100m lower. That's when all the decorations were formed. Then it filled up again and we can dive it. My favorite is where you can see how water has flowed along the floor and walls, little terraces of mud where water has flowed from pool to pool. A lot like the Pamukkale terraces in Turkey but on a miniature scale.

Honestly im new to the chanel but i have been BINGING you guy's content. Actually watching you has sparked my interest in diving (open water) and acquiring those skills. Diving has always been an intrest but watching your content and how "easy" you make it seem with your reactions and all of the safety tips you highlight has really made diving seem like a realistic and achievable hobby.

Probably the best video ever. How he describes the cave with hidden jumps 😂😂😂😍🥰
I would like to see more of the cave. But video cannot describe seeing this in real life

Not a cave diver but I've done a bunch of the guided cavern dives down there. Absolutely love the environment most of the time. So beautiful I wish I was young enough to go full cave. But the one thing that freaks me out in a couple I've done is when there's total blackness below. You mentioned that in the video and I got shivers. Not sure I could ever get used to that. Something in my lizard brain just doesn't like it. I've marked the ones in my log I never want to do again. You can see some beautiful things in the cenotes without leaving the cavern zone and with a floor underneath you.

That was gorgeous. I haven't seen your guys' diving videos before, just the reaction videos of when things have gone wrong for other divers. That is so beautiful, but is a little scary to me. I would like to give that a try but we will see if that ever happens.

Josh Cantu is awesome! So Xdeep owns Kiss Rebreathers now that's crazy congrats Mike. I wish there was a rebreather that can go from side mount or back mount depending on how you set it up before you get in the water.
