I'm on the 14-inch with a base M4, and I'm coming from a 27-inch Intel iMac from 2019... that poor desktop was begging for mercy. Even the 'entry' M4 breezes through my workload, and that includes Photoshop and a ton of demanding web apps.
I got a 16in M3 Pro this year. After being on Windows all my life, XPS 7590 last few years, this Mac does it all for me. I won't be upgrading anytime soon unless the 18 GB of RAM becomes a bottleneck.
Coming from a 2018 windows laptop m. Looking to get a dedicated productivity laptop as a gaming machine has too many distractions and even an older Mseries laptop runs circles around my computer in video and photo rendering
After a year with the 12/18/18 14" M3 Pro I decided I missed the 16" so I currently have the M4 14/20/24 and love it. Performs more like the M1 Max 10/24/32 I used for a couple of years plus the space black is 🔥! Great balanced review by the way.
Wish more reviews were like this. Not too high, not too low, but honest. Also not too long for the sake of making a longer video. I especially appreciate what you said at the end about upgrading. Great video!!
No, that is a beast and absolutely no point in upgrading. If you had an M3 MB Pro M3, then there are more reasons, but not for the M3 Max to the M4 Max.
as this is my first ever M series Apple Silicon Macbook I bought the 16 inch M4 Max Macbok pro and my gosh its fast and fluid best 3.5 grand I've spent in 2024
Missed your videos. Looks like a cold, so get well soon! That's for sure a great laptop, but also for sure with 'great' price tag. What makes me uncomfortable, and I guess there is no change, there is no way to upgrade RAM afterwards. You have to decide at the beginning and that's of course really bad if you want to use it for years. It couldn't grow with your demands. And if something is for sure, than that you'll need more and more RAM over times and also it will get cheaper over the years. Plus nobody knows how much RAM Apple AI will take away now or in the future, but it for sure will be noticeable.
I still have the MacBook pro 2017, It's still good to this day, however, I still have the touch bar, I wish they stayed with that, I'm hesitant to upgrade for that reason😥 for me not a deal breaker but it's convenient.
Great review!!! My Macbook Pro16'' M4 Pro just arrived today... but now I have to study, I only had an iPad before this Apple computer and it's not the same, I know! Eugene G.
I couldn't agree more buy what you need and use it till it is no longer fit for purpose and give it to someone less fortunate who could still make use of it
Apple Intelligence is a small modular learning model that uses RAM only when needed. From my experience with the 4-y-o MB Pro 13 M1 on macOS Sequoia, I use less RAM than before AI, even though I actively use Writing Tools. No machines run large native LMs as they would take more memory than 95% of devices have.
✌Thanks for watching! Did you upgrade to the M4? What are you coming from?

Can I ask what camera and microphone that was used to record this great review? Thank you.

So my takeaway is that I shouldn't regret my M3 Pro Max purchase last year and shouldn't rush to upgrade. Thanks for another great video.

I've missed your contents
Thanks for checking in! 😄
Love your vids!
Thank you for the good advice of not upgrading till it becomes absolutely necessary for work.

I got a MacBook Air M2 for $400 after my surface laptop. I do a lot of 3D printing etc. And this MacBook Air it's pretty good, especially for $400
Good review. I got an M1 Pro 16” earlier this year, and this is my first Mac which I absolutely love!
Missed ur videos Thao💜 it’s been a while, glad you’re back. 💜💯
One of the every best reviews on this laptop and subject matter. Thankyou! Brilliant 🙂 🙏🏽
I'm still just looking to upgrade to the M1 from my 2017 MB pro
I traded in my m2 15 inch air to the Base M4 Pro MacBook Pro and I freaking love it and I don’t regret it

"Hey hey... no fake crying". I learned something new to tell my wife! Thanks, @thao, I learn even from your interaction with your kid!

She has a cold
Do u uses final cut pro for editing ???
No I don't, I switch between Windows and Mac so I prefer DaVinci Resolve.
@@thao Nice thanks Been looking for a new editing program :) i treied Davince resolve but kind makes my brain have a brain fart
If you only use a Mac, then FCP is a no-brainer. From my experience, DaVinci Resolve and Adobe are better optimised for Windows.

Hello Ma'am!

Both are default MacOS 15 wallpapers
Your beauty deserves a beautiful laptop …
It will be interesting to see how much of the bonus ram will be tapped by Apple AI.
