I will never forget the time when me and my family were at Applebees and the waitress asked us how was the food and my dad dead ass responded “ItS APlebEeS” AND PROCEEDED TO CHUCKLE TO HIMSELF
And fourth option - most popular item. Problem with the most expensive thing concept - probably not many people order it, so the chef doesn't make it often, or the ingredients might not be fresh, etc, etc...
I work there. Here's the thing at my store at least- almost everything is made in house and portioned in house. So alot of the times we are just warming them up to the correct temp. But that's some of the sides. I'm not saying you're wrong but I figured to explain more :)) obviously meat, chicken, and fried items are made as they are ordered
The best thing to get a applebees has and always will be there oriental chicken salad, but you can also get it and wrap form, which is what I originally came as and it is amazing. The sauce they put on that stuff is god tier.
That salad was my go-to order until about a year ago. They changed the noodles from the thick, crunchy ones to thin ones that instantly became soggy. I make it at home now.
Yooo I worked at a local chain restaurant next to an Applebees and I would walk over there after my shift sometimes for the cheap drinks (we charged stupid prices for alcohol). They also have a breakfast burger which my drunk ass loved 🤷🏻
I went to Applebee's with my cousin's family about 10 years ago, maybe a little more. When the server brought out the food, my cousin's vegetables were in plastic bags. We calked the server back and she started apologizing like crazy. She wouldn't explain it, but an employee I spoke to online said that none of the side dishes are fresh. The steaks are cooked fresh, but just about everything else there is frozen, even the "stir fry vegetables." They dropped the freezer bags into boiling water for X amount of minutes, then plate them. So either the server or the kitchen staff forgot to cut open and remove the plastic. Starting about 20 years ago, we'd all go out to Applebee's together about once every 3 months. We had noticed the food quality dropping substantially over the previous few years. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. None of us have ever been back.
i worked at applebees for years. some stuff comes frozen, but "the vegetables are frozen" is a straight up lie, as is your description of how they heat them up.
I freaking believe everything you've said. Back then it used to be good but now it's gotten down hill. They started cutting corners & getting lazy with their food. I mean even their drinks have cheap alcohol in it & tbh I don't trust the all you can eat meals. Now it's become a ratchet place, the one that's close-ish to me is & it has been probably five years or more since I've been back. I'm still shocked that people still eat there after many employees have put them on blast about the food, drinks & poor quality.
Applebees gets trashed on for utilizing microwaves, but they have some really affordable deals... also their woodfire grill steaks imo were always on point.
our town's applebee's is always full but I think it has to do with being able to buy alcoholic drinks with meals. people around here apparently can't eat a meal without alcohol.
I did the boneless wings before and they shaft you. You get a small plate to start with and then they bring you out a little plate with like 3 of them on it for you to eat. Server takes like 20 mins to come check on you so you get annoyed before you get full.
Honestly, apple bees quality probably really depends on the place. Went there once somewhere in NM and it was fine, but heard from others it can be horrendous.
The nearly unseasoned fries seems to be a running theme with Applebees. The one in my town is the same. The only thing worthwhile to get are the half-price appetizers.
Applebees is my go to place when I can’t decide. They always have deals. I especially love that every single night from 9-close all appetizers are half price. ❤
Applebee's actually used to be better. I remember we had one in Alabama that was super popular and always full of people. After I moved, I came back 12 years later and found it was shut down and I don't know why. I've had othe Applebee's since then but they just got worse over time
The difference is people who work at these establishments don’t make enough money to survive now. So that comes out in their work. This goes all the way up to even the owners of these fucking places times are hard and unfortunately that means a lot of people aren’t gonna try their best.
Well yeah it doesn't take a genius to realize all you can eat wings and shrimp for $15 has a cost. That cost is an inevitable race to the bottom for quality, as the only way this financially makes sense is to get the absolute cheapest quality ingredients and cheapest labor. So yeah, always take "all you can eat for x price" with a massive grain of salt
I got boneless honey barbecue wings and a medium well steak, it’s definitely worth it. They taste great and the steak has a weird but pretty nice flavor
cant even cap ive enjoyed applebees more than ive enjoyed chillis the last few times ive been going to both...i usually go for drinks, club 🥪, or the chicken fajita over rice
My friend worked at Applebee's and he said everything is microwaved. When they ask how you want your steak that means how many minutes they nuke it for. Haven't eaten there since. I can do better at home for less.
One thing I've learned after dining out and being a steak enthusiast is to NEVER bet your luck on a restaurant which is not a steakhouse or at least does not advertise explicitly that they make great steaks. Always get a steak from an actual steakhouse. Even their less pricey cuts bode well. This one time I had a steak at a place which was bone dry and there was basically not just a gray band, but the entirety of it was gray overcooked to fuck.
Every time he says "the cheapest and the most expensive thing at-" I always think he's going to be at some incredibly fancy Michelin star rated restaurant but it's just in fact an Applebee's. I think it's the suit is what throws me off lol
I love these because many of the food chains reviewed are inexisting where I live. To give you an idea I have to take an hour long bus ride to go to Wendy's and I have to take a bus and the subway to Montreal to find a Five Guys. I have never seen a Taco Bell in my life lol.
My wife made us stop going to Applebees like 17 years ago. I miss it, sub par food…. For overpriced date. Don’t get many date nights nowadays, so local Mexican it is lol!!
Me who works at applebees: hmm yess very interesting. Fr tho our best entrees are the southwest chicken bowl, prime rib dipper, whiskey bacon burger, and then not an entree its an appetizer but those wonton tacos are amazing. I used to eat those on every single shift until i got tired of them lol.
Our very young daughter was learning biiiig words and one was "pomaceous" - to spell, to define. And she wanted to try 'Apple'bys for the first time. "It doesn't smell pomaceous." And there were no apple pie, cobbler desserts. "This isn't any good. There are no apples at Appleby's." Succinct logic, backed up by facts - now THAT is the winning argument.
The problem with these videos is that because you're at chains, locations matter to how good the food can be. They are not as rigid for consistency. Changes the whole perspective when you find a good location. These are a step above fast food.
Theyre super mid and usually suck but i love applebees solely for nostalgia cause its always where all my family would meet up and where my dance team would go after recitals
