Very beautiful fly. I have so many now because I don't have opportunity to fish them. I would love to see you tie the feather version. I have been collecting rare feathers for when I am good enough to tie feather wing flies. I have tied some using the less rare feathers. All the best to you and yours and thanks for sharing. Sean
hi davie another beautifully tied amazing looking fly, I will give this one a go but i'll need to use golden pheasant dyed black ,I looked at some blue eared pheasant skins but the price wow ! anyway, I was wondering how Megan Boyd would have went about collecting her more exotic materials, also would you know what happened to her collection ? thanks again all the best.
So beautiful. I just tried to suffer through a pedantic, condescending and self inflating tutorial on the Silver Doctor. I didn’t make it to the end. You and Makflies are the best things going for technique and presentation. Kelly Gallop is our best ambassador from this side of the Atlantic at the moment. I would like to buy one of your Carrie Stevens flies for an example and for framing but the links are confusing. Please advise. Tight lines, Paul I’ll try again.
Hi Paul, If you can contact me through another platform say Facebook then you can private message me and I can tye you a streamer, if this doesn't help you then I do sell the odd streamer on Ebay..I've nothing at the moment. All the very best Davie.....

Hi David, It can be quite hard to find though Cookshill Tackle do have some at times but you would be best to give them a call first..The last skin that I bought came from Ebay as you can find them under taxidermy birds which I have used many times to get the feathers I want..There's one on there just now but it's not cheap, I have attached a link to it for you to see.. All the very best Davie.. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373960961706?hash=item5711cf6eaa:g:9K0AAOSwuNxiGNkc
Another nice fly Davie, tied to perfection! I tried the super glue few times 2 and l like it! This fly should be good for salmon in our neck of the woods. They have been on the decline here last couple years, thinking it's caused by the salmon farming in area. Any farming around your fishing spots?
Hi hunt4fish, I'm glad you liked the way I varnish the heads of my salmon flies, it's a method I used to speed up the process when I was a Ghillie as you didn't get a lot of time especially when a pattern was working that week..I'm sorry to say that with my experience since they started farming salmon off our shores things did change especially with our seatrout as they almost all disappeared.. All the very best Davie
Hi brilliant stuff, i live in Manila, you mention your threads ,,,Uni8/0 ,,,,could you point me to what the 8 means is it 8 denier? Also where could i get it on the internet if its possible. . Sorry to trouble you but here its almost impossible to get stuff like this. Thx in anticipation.
Hi Al Melling, It does stand for 8 denier so if you are struggling to find some look out for guetermann threads as these are much the same as the uni-threads and can be found anywhere in the world..I have attached a link to their website so that you can do a search for anyone that sells their thread..Let me know how you get on. www.guetermann.com/en All the very best Davie
Thanks Davie, beautifully tied fly as usual. Really enjoyed it. Would it be possible for you to give me the feather wing dressing or as close as you can work out? Am just getting into the more classic flies. I'm probably terrible at it but I really enjoy it. Also where do you get the blue eared pheasant?. Thanks again for sharing your skill so selflessly?
Hi Karl Dunphy, I'm glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for the kind words...The wing on the classic version of the Brora is brown, blue and white Turkey on top, the sides are Woodduck and then finish with a Golden Pheasant topping..I bough a full skin of the Blue Eared Pheasant when I was in America.. Hi David, I noticed you've changed your brand of scissors in the last year or so from the old style, now unavailable, brown handled Anvil to what looks like a Teimco pair? Is this correct and if so how do they compare to the Anvil in sharpness, tip size etc.
Hi Slick Roode, I've been using the Tiemco Razor Scissors which I would say is one of the sharpest pair of scissors I have every used though I have to be honest that I dropped a pair on my laminate floor and broke the tips so you have to be careful..I did lightly file them back and they have been fine..I'm due to buy another pair so I may try the standard ones just to see what they are like... www.fullingmill.co.uk/Products-UK/Fly-Tying-UK/Tiemco-Razor-Scissors-with-TC-Blades-UK All the very best Davie
Hi Mike, Most of the bucktail can be stacked and used like this as all the fibres will taper out like in the videos and as you can see it makes a nice wing...I was tying some 10s and 12s today and the wings were made from bucktail so you can tye from the biggest to the smallest fly you need.. All the very best Davie
Beautiful fly and gorgeous tying - as always. Your explanations are simply on the point and that makes them so educational worthy. Thanks, Davie!
Another gorgeous fly presented brilliantly as always Davie. Thank you.
I did enjoy it, Davie... and especially enjoyed seeing the feather wing version along with.

Great instruction sir. All killer no filler. Thank you. Tight lines. Hope to meet you out there someday. P.S. I love bucktail... So fishy...🤤
I wonder if Davie ever finishes up a video and just thinks to himself…….holy shit, I’m good at this!!! I secretly hope he does
I bet a polar bear wing would look good on it!
Fantastic Davie, thanks.
