  • I show you how to take of your peppers midseason. You don't need to over worry about adjusting nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium as you hear about so much for peppers. You can but... any basic organic granular fertilzer, compost (If you have it), and an organic water soluble fertilizer is all you need. After your midseason care... let them go and grow.

I started watching your videos during the lockdown and over the last couple years learned a lot about growing peppers in containers.Everything is started by seed and in Central Texas I am able to safely plant outdoors in mid March and grow until late October. Two peppers to one container is the secret. Thank you for the great information.

I'm Florida north of Tampa and I still have my peppers from last year producing. Last year one pepper refused to grow and I almost put it in the compost. This year he is growing and producing! All are treated the same way, same soil, same fertilizer and watering. I am stumped but happy! I use the bone meal and fish emulsion when I think about it. My tomatoes are done due to high overnight temps but I will start new plants for fall and winter. You have great advice and I enjoy your videos.

I've used Fish Emulsion for the first time and it's done it's job well. It did attract flys the first time I used it. After that I didn't put much on the leaves mostly in the roots lol. I also have some Tiger Bloom around 2-8-6 npk for my next liquid feeding and I mixed some granular fertilizer to around 3.5-19-27 that I might use for the next granular feeding. Being just north in Pa 6b your one of the channels I can guage when to put stuff in and other things. I live about 50 miles from a TH-cam channel "the veggie boy's" so they're another one to use as reference as well.

If you find something that works, please let us know. Our doe will chow down with a radio next to her and lights in her face. An amazing athlete, she took down the deer netting on top of a 4' fence just for fun. My guess is that the Iowa corn crop is down, so hunger is driving her. I'm looking at videos on 3 dimensional fencing, but like all deer solutions, it looks ugly.

Keep in mind that sometimes different varieties of peppers will cross pollinate. I've had jalapenos and serranos cross pollinate and ended up with some really hot peppers that looked like jalapenos but tasted like serranos and vice versa. We are having a cool start to summer after a cold spring and my peppers are really small. Tomatoes are just starting to flower

The cross doesn't show up in this year fruits. Just in the seeds and they cross would show in plants next year.

Great video, so much great information here. I planted my peppers in May and the jalapeño, poblano, and banana peppers all took off, but the bell peppers are lagging behind. I went overboard on peppers this year, planted two per space because I want a lot. Can't wait to make chile rellenos this summer.

Thanks so much for both pepper videos. Great to know we can be a little more flexible with fertilizers. Quick question about planting 2 plants/ pot. Great that they do so well…I always thought plants need more spacing to decrease crowding & disease and lessen competition for nutrients. Yours are doing great so seems to work. Is this mainly applicable just to peppers? Are there some plants where growing 2/pot would be not a good idea? (Example would it work for tomatoes, eggplants, okra? Etc…). Thanks💐

This was helpful at this point in the season. My oldest pepper seemed very large and mature but hadn't started turning red yet. The same for my italian roasting pepper - my oldest one never turned red. How long does it usually take (on average) for cherry tomatoes and peppers to fully ripen to red? Thanks Gary!

Such a helpful video, as always! Question... I seed started sweet bell peppers, over the winter. (I dried the seeds from organic peppers I bought at the grocery store). Planted them in the ground in mid-late May, using a granular fertilizer mixed in the soil. They are STILL only about 4-6inches tall. 😕 Do you have any ideas of why this could happen or what I can do to try to remedy? I've fed them a couple times with fish emulsion, as well.

Hey Gary! Love your channel and the gardening advice you give. I'm in GA zone 8a, and we have had many 90+ degree days in June. I have been noticing that a lot of my peppers have brown sunken spots on them, mostly on the mid to lower parts of the peppers. Do you have any idea what might be causing this? I water consistently, fertilize every couple of weeks and all the pepper plants are mulched. It's a real head scratcher as I didn't deal with this at all last year. The only difference from last year is the extreme heat that we have been having. Thanks!

Have you ever had an insect that would make a hole in the pepper? There isn't any insects or larva inside. The pepper just rots and falls off. It seems to be only a problem with the Adjvarski peppers. I have sweet hot peppers, bells, banana and Jimmy Nardello in next to each other in the same bed. Thanks for your help.

From the beginning I was using a lower nitrogen fertilizer (2-3-1 or 3-4-6). I noticed most of my pepper plants were slower growing and started producing quite a bit of flowers that I was having to prune because the plants were not to size yet. Yesterday I hit them with 2 tsp Alaska 5-1-1 and 1 tbsp 1 tsp neptune's harvest mix together with two gallons of water hoping to give them a little boost of continued growth while they are flowering. I hope that didn't do anything to mess up their production. I was doing some research and read that nitrogen can actually help the plant retain the flowers longer. I believe preventing flower drop.

Banana peppers might be fine. But it depends on your frost date and cold time. Mine can be October. So it would be tough here. I figure, for a nice harvest, you want 125+ days of heat and good temps.

So you don't start using the Agrothrive until mid-season?
My peppers are small, still, since we have a later start of the season here. I remember last year that first stage seemed to take forever, I kept giving them fish emulsion, then they finally took off. I did find the ones planted in the ground produced more than those in 5 gal buckets.
It was my first time growing peppers last year, I followed your advice, and they did quite well. I was happy with how much I got and still have some in the freezer. I also canned them into hot pepper sauce, jelly, salsas, cowboy candy (omg, to live for), and made stuffed peppers. So, this year I'm growing more of the ones I liked the most, eliminating 2 varieties.

I just have a lot of fish emulsion LOL so I am using that up. You can use either. Any order is really fine. They arent that particular. Thats what I was trying to say is that the plants arent so concerned as long as they are getting NPK is a slow and steady space.

I haven't really watered them much because we have clay soil and it seems to still be quite moist from the last rain. Just wondering why you put two pepper plants so close together why not have them a little further apart in the pot? Is there a benefit to having the stems so close together? I planted two chocolate scorpions in one pot, first time doing it this year but mine are further apart. Does it matter?

You can just save space and increase production by planting them closely together. Basically more plants in your garden

You can get slug bait that is OMRI listed, safe for organic gardening. Slugs do their munching at night, and I found the bait works.
I created copper rings for seedlings so they won't attack them while small. So far so good.
Also, Gary mentioned using dust. Make sure you use it late in the evening and rinse off early in the morning if near any blooms bees might be attracted to. It kills anything that walks on it, including good insects.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.
