  • "I can be anything that I want to be, I can be a man or a woman, I can be a demon or a sage, I can be the God or the Goddess, I can be the power, I can be an emotion, love, anger, anguish. I can be the force of nature, the wind, the fire, the water, I can be anything that I want to be." - states T Reddi Lakshmi in her talk, here, demonstrating how she uses dance as a form of expressing herself.
T Reddi Lakshmi is among the established and reputable performers in the present generation of Kuchipudi artists of India. For her Kuchipudi is far from being just an art form that she performs with unparalleled passion; it is a way of devotion for her. Critics have time and again anointed her the ‘complete dancer’ carrying the quintessential quicksilver movements typical to the Kuchipudi style.
Here, in her talk, first she demonstrates and then talks about her devotion to the dance form and her varied experiences as a performer and teacher. T Reddi Lakshmi is a Kuchipudi dancer, and one of the foremost disciples of renowned Kuchipudi exponents and mentors, Gurus Jayarama Rao and Vanashree Rao. She holds the distinction of being among the most brilliant and has already performed in many countries. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
