8:05 when I enter the password, it says "No key available with this passphrase."
I tried everything from changing the password to renaming it but nothing works. Yes, I am entering the correct password and my Capslock is not on.
I do have persistance folder for my data. But, why I can't retain my desktop settings?

Im trying to do this on a sd card. Im having trouble i think mine is only readable and i cant write in it. Sadly rufus wont work for this.

so first boot you chose "live system" and continue configurating the persistence & encrypt, but after you do this and restart the kali, u chose "live system" or "live syste with persistence" for default?

What command did you use at 6:32 to check the mount point ?

Did anyone else run into this problem: I was able to carry out the etcher/partition steps without error, but when I attempt to boot from the external HD I'm using, and I select it in the boot menu, nothing happens: the screen flashes, and just reloads the boot menu options
Update Solved: To anyone having this issue:
(1) Enter BIOS
(2) Navigate to "Security" tab
(3) Select "Secure Boot" and then "Disable"
(4) Navigate to "Start-up" tab
(5) Enable "Both" UEFI/Legacy Boot
Now, when you change the boot order, Kali should boot without issue
luksOpen command doesnt work , is there any solution for this
cryptsetup -v luksOpen /dev/sdb3 pers

You need to plug your usb drive in, reboot pc or laptop and select boot menu on startup. It's usually F12 button but can vary on different laptops, if F12 does not work then search for "[your model] boot menu"

@@emmet2899 look for boot sequence. Find the USB and move it to the top.

I noticed on your file explorer that you only had 3.8 GiB free space on the Desktop/new folder, not the 5 GiB we have set. I also tried it here with an even larger partition, and when I opened my file explorer I saw something similar. Does it mean we are limited to 3.8 GiB on the Desktop, for instance? If so, are we able to expand it?
What shortcut you used for checking disks

I am not found live boot mode

Why isn't the old method using Rufus not helpful?
Rufus can create persistence drive with a few clicks, and it's easier. But it's always a good practice to get your hands dirty and do something that's automated manually. For the sake of understanding how it works under the hood.

searched for days and spent hours mucking about with archaic and old methods to flip this trick just to find out this is now a 5 minute no fuss, no muss job with RUFUS 3.16 and up.
It has a tab to set up persistence even before you setup the usn installer.

I flashed the usb with my android phone
This is by far the worst video tutorial I have ever endured - Thank you for wasting 2 hours of my life. After all that, the only thing that was encrypted was 1 folder - Desktop or other areas are still in live mode meaning nothing is saved, absolutely pointless.
Every step was followed exactly as you mentioned even though I had to google things because you don't explain properly for example you just skip scenes and end up somewhere else like Nano, you never mentioned how to save the nano file. At the beginning I think at 6:30 there was no command to to check mount point.
Now I need to find another video tutorial as im assuming critical parts were left out/skipped making it pointless and not working as it should

We never checked the sum tho... not just paranoia. We should do that.
everything worked fine except persistence which was the main reason i came to this video desktop changes and folders created are not working

It was going good until you switch screens at 9:05. I'm new at this and all I typed up to there was good. So, I have to erase my usb, make a new one, find another video to help me that don't switch screens and change dir. smh...
He didn't switch screens. He opened the file that he had just created in nano, his text editor.
You could just type 'nano persistence.conf' to get to the next step.
