    Great video! I over filter my tanks, but yours look great with less filtration. It costs less and makes less noise to do it your way. Beautiful tanks and fish, Evan.

    Make the sumps out of plywood. Same concept as the tanks. And you can make them custom sized so they fit.

    Very cool video! I really like the fluval FX6. They are crazy expensive though so I started making my own sumps which aren't cheap but significantly less. Your malawi cichlid tank is so stunning. Great stuff. If you ever have to go shopping for a large canister filter again check out the Aquael Hypermax 4500.
    Not too common in the US but they are now filtering in. Corny pun intented! They released just under two years ago in Europe. Blow the FX6 out of the tank. Aquael are a Polish brand and well respected over here.
    If searching for prices go for the basic version. The Wi-Fi/Bluetooth versions are far more expensive.

    Interesting. Clearly, with canisters on those monster tanks, you are not turning over the tank volume the recommended 4-6 times an hour often recommended. I have an Oase biomaster 600 on a 340 litre tank, which I've worked out turns over the tank twice an hour. Like you, my biological filtration is good. Have you worked out your turnover rates?

    • @Riffwaters
      @Riffwaters  5 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@paulouzman7267 I haven't ever measured the actual turnover rate. The advertised GPH rates would give me 2.8 turns per hour. I'm sure reality is way less.

    Seeing all these canisters and hang on backs and lights... What is the power bill every month? I think i remember you said you heat the room in another video, which saves costs and almost a need for a fish room with more than 5 tanks, imo, assuming like 75g+ each.

    • @Riffwaters
      @Riffwaters  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I've never calculated the energy costs, honestly. It'd be tough to parse out how much of my energy bill is fish room vs home. I'm sure it's a lot though.
