Many thanks, I have a 10-20 mm lens for my Nikon 5300 and have just learned more from this video
than I have from any other media in the year that I have owned it.

Probably one of the best, if not the best, advice about using wide angles in the field with some great imagery (actual evidence) for the advice given. For me it has been your best video so far and I have followed you from the beginning. Carry on the good work and Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family.

I follow several photography related TH-cam channels but yours more and more turns out to be the best. Very good advice, always to the point. No distractions or bashing. It is simply all about taking better images no matter what brand you use. That is what I appreciate most. Thank you for your fantastic work!

Hi Nigel, I have been enjoying your videos. You have shown such breathtaking scenery along with great advice on how to take amazing photos. I went out again today to practice but I live about 40 miles west of Chicago struggling to find any decent compositions. I have a choice of flat lands of dirt, corn fields later and a river. Only interesting thing was some geese with their chicks.
However, my husband and I are leaving June 8 th for a week in Ireland, a week by St. Andrew’s Scotland where my daughter and BF rented a castle for family and go golfing. Personally, I’m hoping there’s an engagement announcement. Then we head down to England to visit members of my husband’s team.
I’m already panicking that I’m lacking skills in getting sharp depth of field in landscapes or most areas will be too challenging to walk to. Told my husband when we were younger we didn’t have the money and time to travel. Now that he is nearing retirement we have the time and money but our bodies are saying, not so fast.

I'm an instinct photographer with zero formal training nor schooling. I found my infatuation with photography via smartphones.
That being said, your video wasn't over my head and, from more of the artistic perspective and less of the technical, this video made a lot of sense to me and I feel I can take your advice and experience and put it to use.
    Thank you.

It just occurred to me to think of a wide angle as not so much for getting a wide view of the horizon (left to right) but more of a deeper view from front to back. Thank you! I've been enjoying your videos for a few years.

The Iceland shot at 8:45 is amazing and one that I would love to just stare at and study. The grass, and middle ground are a mind warper for scale, haven't got a clue on how far away the mountain is. Obviously many amazing shots (ALL) but the one I mentioned above is a STUNNER. Just received my first wide angle, a Sony 14mm f1.8 GM, and I WILL utilize all of your pointers and eventually make something pretty. Tickets to Iceland aren't gonna happen but I'll find something. Thank You. Subscribed and followed on IG!

    Nigel,
Your key things to remember when using a wide-angle lens is one of the best videos I have watched on TH-cam. You have learned from your mistakes and are not ashamed to show them; they have become valuable stepping stones leading the way to a perfect wide-angle photo.
I am a Church photographer and use a Z mount 24-70 2.8 mm S in Dx mode. I want to get the occasional wide view photo. I own a Nikon F 20 mm 2.8 prime that was good but not enough reach for structure and altar shots with my Nikon D 750 camera. I am considering the Z 14-30 mm 4.0 S lens for my Z6 II camera. I watched you video to learn how to use the lens.

Hey Nigel, really loving your work and education here. At 12:24 besides maybe the right corner what is distracting? I liked how the snow filled trees kinda point up and to where the two mountains meet in the valley and then up the center mountain. Maybe a video on “Spotting (or Avoiding) distractions in landscape photography“
