Very helpful video. I found a few of my fathers cars that he raced with my uncle back in the mid 80s. One of them has some serious miles on it and needs a total rebuild. Needs a new armature too
Thank you for your comments! You can use the AFX Super G+ armatures to replace the old Life Like armature. You will need to cut off about 1mm from the pinion side if you will be using the AFX or equivalent! Happy Racing, Happy Holidays, and God Bless!!
Oh the memories, I dabbled with HO in the mid to late 90's. my local 1/24 slotcar track set up an L shaped HO track in the corner. I had 4 Rokars (first name for the lifelike) a Super G+ and too many 440 x2's and one 440x2 with stock arm with full cobalt motor and traction magnets with foam tires, that thing would not come out the slot. Funnily enough i actually liked the Rokars better than the others, just fit my driving style and liked the two magnet layout
Hi Jr! Thank you for your comments! You’ll have to add COX, AMRAC, Galoob, and Darda to that list of names as well. This has to get the award for the car with the most names!! Happy Racing and God Bless!!!
My favorite chassis. Great tutorial. If you feel like it sometime after cleaning one of your “M” chassis try some silver wizard brushes and a hytemp .006 tyco springs. Big performance for little $$
Hi Bill! Thank you for your comments. I definitely agree on that! I already have one set up with an all silver electrical system. Next is to try the level 4 magnets from Harden Creek!! Sounds like a performance video is in the works. Race Happy!!!!
Good morning Marc, good video, on the Life like car , last year I started getting my twelve year old son interested in slot cars, I've started out with AFX track and buying AFX slot cars, my question is why is one car is super fast and other ones are slow ? And why same type motors run smother than others? And when I bought some Auto Worid slot cars and that type , why are they alot slower than AFX? Thank you for the video and see you next video.
Good morning Dad! We have to remember that these types of slot cars are meant to be toys. There are so many inconsistent quality issues with every car and it takes time to diagnose these issues. Let’s look at the axles and wheels for example. If you remove them from the chassis and roll them on a flat surface, you will most likely see them wobble as they roll. That creates a vibration noise and poor traction. If you are looking for performance from the start, BSRT, BULL DOG, Viper, and Wizzard are some of the trusted brands. Call me anytime if you would like to discuss further. Happy Racing!!!
I'm pleased with my old Life Like. Some of my AW Xtraction G+ are faster than others. I was impressed with my AW Tjets. I'm impressed with the Vipers etc..but don't care for speed( Blur) they are capable of
Hi there, it was to see if you can help me, I got myself the Jag DR1 gt chassis, and ordered a tucker body shell to fit it from 660 slots, now the wheels stick out from the body, were they should be inside of the wheel arches, would I need to change wheels and Axle, what wheels and Axle would you recommend, thanks
Hi! I am not familiar with the Jag DR-1 chassis yet. I will eventually get one in the near future! Check some of the slot car forums or with your local clubs to see if you can get some help there!!

Great instructions. I can't wait to start working on these again now that I have finally purchased a track after waiting over 20 years.

How do you rebuild a blazin brakes chassis.
Hey Jerome, I’m not sure if I have a complete chassis to demonstrate!
@@TRXperienced I just want to hop it up.not that fast compared to my viper chassis
Jerome,
We're you able to improve the speed of your blazin brakes chassis?
No I wasn't able to improve the speed..
What did you use to free up the binding bushings on the armature?
It is not the armature binding on the bushing, it is the bushing binding inside the housing.
