Thank for the positivity, I live in Spain now and I get tired of seeing TH-cam videos slagging off my country, before anyone jumps on me I'm here for the weather.
Once courted a woman from Worksop, but never went into the town. I lived in Sutton in Ashfield and would drive to the Mansfield end of Peafield Lane to meet up with her. Then she'd get in my car and we'd go for a drink and a meal. The only time she invited me into her flat after around two years of seeing her, I asked if it wasn't time we took things to the next level....and that was it. She never rang me again after that. I had just been a friend who paid for meals and drinks. It taught me a lesson, that's for sure..
@AbroadYorkshire No need to be sorry mate, it's all part of the learning curve. I used to live on Mary streeet until I got married and could afford to buy my first house in Huthwaite. Second wife grabbed the second bungalow after we were divorced. The bungalow was valued at fiftyseven grand, and I ended up with two grand, less than the deposit I put down from the sale of my old home. I vowed then to never buy another house and get robbed again.

The best thing in Worksop is the Mallard real ale bar on the station. Great craic, fabulous staff and great clientele. The Station Hotel is also good over the road, good real ales and does fabulous food. The town centre has suffered bad in recent years after M&S, Wilko and WH Smith went and like every other towns it is littered with Turkish Barbers, vape and phone shops, nail bars, a lot of Eastern European supermarkets and the same undesirables and drug users kicking off at their mates. Shame as it has some lovely buildings, the priory, and is surrounded by lovely countryside, stately homes, NT Clumber Park, Sherwood Forest and also Welbeck estate parkland which has a farm shop, cafe, garden centre, museum, brewery, bakery, artisan food school and gallery. The Crossing in your video is a church and cafe meeting place and is a nice spot.
Cheers buddy. I’ll defo have to head out for a drink the next time i’m out in the area. The Mallard and Station sound like a good couple of pubs to start off if we get the train through.

I was born in Worksop 70 years ago but have lived in Durham for 65 years. I do remember being taken to Langold lake gala as a child and to a miners social club near the lake. Sadly that’s all but I did enjoy the vlog and in my life I have been to many places in the UK and believe me Worksop doesn’t seem that bad. They closed down the pits and ripped the heart out of these strong close knit communities. You reap what you sow my father would say. Some mentioned Worksop used to be a really busy town in the 80’s and has seen decline since pedestrianisation and the opening of Meadow hall, at 16 mins 25 with the clock tower in front of you had you turned right you would have seen the main shopping street and precinct with many boarded up shops and the precinct is due a multi million redevelopment which is well over due and should be great for the town. And at 16mins 25 behind you is a dead end street, the first house on the right was the home of a record label called Ready Go records who opened in 1981 I believe, they signed a local band called Bikini Atol that released 3 singles on the label in 1981 and 82 before disappearing in to history, they were really good too. The pub near town was old nightclub n when I was small I remember it being gas works building. I remember a lot of Worksop has I was born here on Manton n still live in Worksop
I've always loved Worksop I worked there on Watson road in the 80's , reality hair design I've got to say back then it really was quite different very bustling and friendly and gorgeous buildings which it still has but obviously times change and in my opinion it's the influxes you know what I mean that change the dynamics of places as well you know the impression I get is that that some folk seem to give up wanting to work and get on and get into all sorts of rubbish and drag places down you know give a bad impression of a place and I reckon that's what happened to worksop , drugs and related crime are everywhere but looks at the town it's lovely and the drive in on a sunny day is lovely too the surrounding countryside is to die for 😊
Totally agreed, well said and welcome to the channel. Thanks for watching and I hope you find the time to watch a little more and return to watch the new vlogs each Wednesday and Sunday.
Cheers fella 😊 to them that have given up and feel down and depressed and it's not worth it working , me and my pal caught two buses each way every day from conisborough to Worksop and we were on £32 a week now then but loved every minute Shaun 😊 1982 phew time flies
The crossing is a church, cafe and function rooms. The Vietnamese was called the Queens head. The French horn is no longer open, it's a listed building hence why still there.
We have a few good subscribers from both of those places mate, I might have to head out to Ilkeston at some point to see how it’s changed. I’ve not been there since about 1990. There used to be a massive Co-op on the corner and every 2 minutes it was an advert for Ilkeston Co-op Travel on the radio. !
Try the cafe in the Aurora building on Memorial Avenue next to the new library. A hidden gem, highly recommend. Oh and it's RAILWAY Sation and NOT train station!
Just found your channel and dropped you a sub. My parents were from Thrybergh and Dalton...unfortunately, they moved to the wrong side of the Pennies, before I was born 😂 I've been in Derbyshire, for the past 29 years....and I'm off to the Wellbeck Estate, later today, to check out their Bovaer free dairy products!
Eyup Annie. Thanks very much for watching and subscribing, it’s appreciated massively. Hopefully you’ll find the time to watch a little more over the festive period and if you are missing the sun this winter, have a pop at the Benidorm vlogs. Ive lived in worksop for 70 years i dont go into the town centre, druggies paradise stood around like zombies, gangs of low life snorting god knows wot outside Asda at 10am, loads of empty shops but thats common in most places, folk who live just outside the town dont shop here, avoided by most! Homeless in shop doorways shouting abuse.
Not that bad plus there's only like 6 or so of them which are usually near a fire exit step round the corner from the main entrance on the path but they're that regular it's jus meh and for me manton now carlton it's not that bad not really had major problems kinda :)

Hi Angie, Thanks for watching. It was a nice walk around and great to see the old buildings around the centre still in use. I hope you enjoyed the vlog.
I was ready to be annoyed by this video but glad to see he actually says it's not that bad compared to other places that are really run down. Half the problem we have is most people just have a negative attitude towards the place and are forever pulling it down rather than focusing on the positives - yet they still live here?! Oh it's a shit hole Worksop, rough as arseholes *lived here all their lives* 🧐 How about people get out there and support what we have got so we don't lose it - Acorn theatre Savoy cinema Priory church Worksop library Handful of local businesses left - use them, spend your money there instead of the bigger names. Support the new business that start up and then we might get more. Yes there is an antisocial behaviour and drug problem but that isn't just Worksop, that's nationwide. There's not much we can do about that as that's down to our shit show of a government. But what we can do is stop being so damn critical and negative! Also if someone could open up the French Horn again that'd be great, I've always loved that building right from being a kid. Then I found out that at one point my great grandmother was a landlord then when my grandad was a kid, so it's in the genes 😆
Eyup Hertz, first off, thanks for watching mate, and thank you for joining in with the comments. It was a lovely place TBH, I really enjoyed the walk around. I totally agree with your sentiments regards the old buildings that need saving. If some folk would just take a little time to stop looking down at their feet or phone and look upwards, they may realise what beauty is actually surrounding them. Anti-social behaviour is indeed everywhere hence the Broken Britain series we are doing at present, but the point of the videos is to try and show folk the good instead of being like some other TH-camrs who only ever show the bad. Thanks for stopping by mate, please feel free to watch more of the content on my channel and like, subscribe and hit the notification if you enjoy pal.

The field across from the train station is meant too be a Lidi but its been a empty tip for 10 years now when you was walking past the vets around 7 minutes in that round has had 5 sink holes in the last year. The pub in the thumb nail is called rewind someone got attacked with a machete not too long back. The "nice" places you've been too are for the local council the french horn is for our local smack rats as well as every house down the road from there across the road from the french horn is our local job center and police station 😂😂 before you cut too clumber that whole street is for smack rats.
@@Adge60 nice one, those were the days.lol
The crossing is a church, cafe and function rooms. The Vietnamese was called the Queens head. The French horn is no longer open, it's a listed building hence why still there.
Cheers Fanta. The French Horn was a lovely building.
Very surprised to see Waddingtons menswear still going. I remember when it was in the square in Rotherham.
Old Waddingtons, Blimey there’s a blast from the past. Cheers for watching mate.
I had mates from Ilkeston and Worksop shame though I remember when the Pits were all closed so that didnt help the area 👍❤
Welcome to Worksop, just subbed the town used to have a real bad drug problem sadly most dead now. God bless.
Cheers Andrew. It looked like a really. Nice place TBH. Those old buildings still in use were amazing. Thanks for subbing pal.
Try the cafe in the Aurora building on Memorial Avenue next to the new library. A hidden gem, highly recommend.
Oh and it's RAILWAY Sation and NOT train station!
Cheers Andrew. I wish I had known, I’d have popped in.
If you go to the first one which was only 3 months ago, you’ll see we were looking to get 20 subscribers by Xmas this year. Enjoy and welcome to the channel.
@AbroadYorkshire Blimey, you're doing great, well done you! Will definitely check out your other vids. Keep on keeping on!! 🤘😁
@@AnnieRed66 Thank you. And cheers again for watching
I must admit that when I was there, I didn’t see any of the things you described Shelley. Perhaps it was just a lucky day.
Not that bad plus there's only like 6 or so of them which are usually near a fire exit step round the corner from the main entrance on the path but they're that regular it's jus meh and for me manton now carlton it's not that bad not really had major problems kinda :)
@@liamhughes5040 Cheers Liam. Thanks for watching buddy
You'll have to come to Goole mate that is proper broken Britain
Sounds like a plan to me mate. I taught in Goole years ago in that building on the other side of the road to Tesco

I can remeber mac & co being the British Gas showroom im sure it was
A couple have mentioned the gas showroom pal. Cheers for watching Gaz. I’m looking forward to going back for a drink round there one of the days.
I recommend u come to Worksop building use to be regal cinema use to watch this with my mum she loved benidorm but sadly passed away last week if you could give her a shout out she would of loved to see you round Worksop her name was Irene revell many thanks
Hi James, sorry to hear about your mum, I know what you are going through mate, I lost my dad a couple of months back while I was away filming the Oradour Sur Glane vlog. I decided to do a special and dedicated it to him. I’ll give you a shout out in the next one I film pal. It should be out on Sunday coming. Stay strong buddy.
@AbroadYorkshire appreciate that many thanks if I knew you was in Worksop I'd of bought you a pint of the black stuff

Mac and co used to be called glasshouse I’m pretty sure my dad used to run it couple of years back it’s closed down now the guy who owned it doesn’t want it anymore closed down about a year ago now if not more
Thanks Memphis. Reading up on it, it was called the glasshouse at some stage. Cheers for taking the time to watch and comment, it’s very much appreciated.
Mac and Co used to be Yates
@@staceyknowles9984 Cheers Stacey. It was Yates when Matt used to DJ in there, God Rest him.
enjoy your vlogs you and Pat Dickinson would be great together
Cheers Andy, although I have no clue who Pat Dickinson is. I thought it was that fella with the orange face who sells antuiques
He's from Sheffield he vlogs Walks and wild camping in the Peaks that sort of stuff.

Im Carlton lass lol..went to worksop comprehensive school.. im 56 yrs old now.. my family still live in worksop..
Hi Angie, Thanks for watching. It was a nice walk around and great to see the old buildings around the centre still in use. I hope you enjoyed the vlog.
@AbroadYorkshire yes thankyou
@@angier9283 👍
I was ready to be annoyed by this video but glad to see he actually says it's not that bad compared to other places that are really run down. Half the problem we have is most people just have a negative attitude towards the place and are forever pulling it down rather than focusing on the positives - yet they still live here?! Oh it's a shit hole Worksop, rough as arseholes *lived here all their lives* 🧐
How about people get out there and support what we have got so we don't lose it -
Acorn theatre
Savoy cinema
Priory church
Worksop library
Handful of local businesses left - use them, spend your money there instead of the bigger names.
WORKSOP: One Horse & Cart Town, but the horse DIED 😂 Morning greetings to a friendly Northerner from your Southerner in Luzon, Philippines..Great start with that turd btw. I know Worksop quite well having passed through it several times...Remember you can't Polish a Turd
Eyup Mark. I was just about to say it looks popular with dog walkers and then….luckily there was a little brook in the woods that saved the day ! 🤣🤣🤣
Deprived, disgusting, dangerous, oh and Dog 💩!
All up the side of my Sketchers.. thank goodness for the babbling brook in the woods and a handy supply of sticks and twigs!
🐕💩🙈 Subbed👍
Hi Neil, thanks for subscribing mate, I hope you are enjoying the content pal.
It seems people were having you on about it being broken...I've seen much worse
Absolutely pal, It was lovely.
For your next in the broken Britain series you will have to visit Newark on Trent 😂
Not a problem David. I’ll add it to the list.
Sorry, what's wrong with Newark on Trent??? I have visited this town multiple times and and also had short term contract job in 2017 and Newark became among my favourite English small towns... very lovely old town with church and remains of castle and beautiful areas around.... also plenty of small shops, clean and quite vibrant small town . Also two train stations with direct links to London, Nottingham and Edinburgh is just amazing! 🙂
@@dovydasstasionis I’ve been to Newark a few times myself as my mate has a farm at Swinderby and also to visit Brownhills and SMC. I’ve always thought it was quite nice, but I’ve never had a look around TBH.
@@AbroadYorkshire btw if you're looking for broken places around UK, you could turn up to Livingston near Edinburgh. I wanted to shot myself after spending first couple of hours. It looks such depressing like ex-soviet union in the early 90s

There thought t would be a place
Too visit think I must of got
The wrong end of the stick when
I asked him to visit
Sorry if I upset you
Old picture house.. cinema
Thanks again Angie. 👍 A few have confirmed the Regal Cinema
Just need to point out Worksop is in Nottinghamshire, not Yorkshire.
No need to point out mate. I did mention I was out of Yorkshire and in North Nottinghamshire / Robin Hood Country near the start of the Vlog whist outside of the train station.
It was yates
Thanks Fanta, I think it was a Yates bar now as I recall. Matt used to DJ in a few Yates bars such as Rotherham, Sheffield and Worksop as I now remember.
Regal cinema was on the right.
Cheers again matey. Lovely big building that needs saving
Misleading titles which left me wondering where the danger was because it sure as hell didn't happen in this video
If you had watched any of the other videos Chris, you may have realised that this is how it had been described to me before I went, hence the full title if you had managed to read that either.

Never went to that one mate. Looks like it could still be a good day out around there though pal.
Come back too Worksop and walk into the rest of town 😂 that's the only "nice" street you went too. Worksop is a town where if you take drugs and steal you get a house and a full months wages on benefits but if you work for a living you get shit on 😂
😂😂 Cheers mate. It’s about right for me that.. thick as two short planks and no sense of direction
👋👌
🤩
Sorry bud but where are you seeing all the bars lol, most in town are closed..your 20 years to late to see tham all
Hi Phillip. If you watch the video, there were loads open where I walked. A few closed down admittedly but still plenty open, unlike a lot of the places we’ve visited
Its basically a brothel bro
I didn’t see any evidence of that sort of thing while I was there to be honest.
Boozer was Yates.

@AbroadYorkshire It was bud. And the pub that is now a Chinese. Was Queens Head. 👊🏻
