    Nice video, thanks for featuring my gloomhaven trees! I recently made some additional highly detailed trees for Danny from 3DPrintedTabletop's latest Kickstarter, The Lost Adventures.

      That's awesome! Is there a way to buy the trees now that the Kickstarter campaign is over? If you can post a link, that would be awesome.

      Hi! Your "Lost Adventures" trees are the best I have found on the market I believe. The only negative point in my opinion is that the leaves seem to be 5cm thick sometimes.

    I would suggest instead of hairspray, diluted white glue (aka PVA) with water in a 50/50 mix which you can spray on and will dry clear. Much stronger than hairspray.

    Sort of unrelated but I have the same shirt. And my kids ask, "Why would you wear a Maruchan Instant Lunch t-shirt?" And I'm, "Have you eaten Maruchan Instant Lunch? Because if you had, you wouldn't be asking that question." Love your nerd cave by the way!!!

    Great video, this looks like a good way to get good looking terrain on the table for a good price, given you already have a 3d printer. Any recommendations on a beginner printer?

      I know a lot of people get the Creality Ender 3 but you have to be willing to fine-tune it. My Prusa MK3S is expensive at almost $800 but I've had to do no fine tuning after the build.

    You mention printing the Gnarled Trees at .2mm but do you have any recommendations for support settings with them?

    • @gaminggeek241
      @gaminggeek241  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Printable Scenery mentions that you don't need supports for the trees and if I remember correctly, I don't think I used them. But if you are finding you need them, I usually use auto supports function in PrusaSlicer making sure the connections are set at .2 so they break away easily.

  • @corwynt16

    Did you have any trouble printing the canopy? The trees were the fine but the canopies, specifically the smaller ones keep failing. They get caught and drag the filament.

  • @MaMastoast
    @MaMastoast 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Those canopies look like they'd need an insane amount of supports... I mean with all those leaves sticking out I assume that's a ton of overhangs, how many did you end up using?

    • @gaminggeek241
      @gaminggeek241  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, I didn't use supports at all--prints well and is designed to be printed without them.

    Just bought the Gnwarly trees with canopies from printable scenery I had no issues printing out the tree. I was able to print canopy number 1 but canopy number 2 is failing on the 4th layer it is knocking one of the little pieces off the bed. It's the one section that is to the right of the biggest piece. Did you have any issues with canopy number 2? I'm going to try to change the location where it prints to start.

    • @gaminggeek241
      @gaminggeek241  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, since making this video, you can find a huge number of detailed stls for trees. I've never printed my trees (nor any of my terrain) in resin since I find the FDM prints good enough but resin would look awesome!

    I know this is an old video but I am curious your settings when you printed these? I am trying to print them but they are taking 7 to 12 hours EACH tree which is doable but its gonna take a looooong time to get a good amount of trees to play with. Also they say its 28mm but they seem a bit small? Maybe I am just picky and imagine bigger trees. thanks!

    • @gaminggeek241
      @gaminggeek241  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm printing at stock settings in PrusaSlicer at .2mm height and 10% infill. I don't remember how long the prints took, but that sounds about right. Feel free to scale up if you want larger trees. I don't mind them being smaller because I want to be able to move miniatures around them easily but it wouldn't be hard to scale. Good luck!

    Hey which infill pattern you used for the gnarly tress and canopies?

    • @gaminggeek241
      @gaminggeek241  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the default infill pattern on my PrusaSlicer which is "Gyroid" at 10%. I don't think the pattern matters too much so pick one that you like!

      IIRC, I used both and Ender 5 and a Prusa MK3S. I got rid of my Ender 5 though because I hated the vertically moving bed. But these files should print on almost any 3D printer.
