    🌳 Nice tree.
    Here is a tip, before you add the hot glue bark, glue strands of unraveled jute twine onto the trunk. When you start to apply and streak the hot glue it basically saturates the strands of twine and draws them into the streaked pattern. It makes a much finer and less-blobby finish.

      And I've seen it being used for very realistic ivy too, so that could also be a nice addition somewhere on the trunk, make it look even more ancient :D

    great video, nice trees! When painting on top of the hot glue a great primer to use is a 50/50 mix of PVA glue and wall spackle. It takes paint really well and dries with a slight flex so that it won't crack over time.

      Agree with John, they are easy if you have the patience, for the gluing, e.g.
      However, that’s about $30 worth of supplies.
      It’s reflected in the quality but can be daunting if you needed a forest.
      Poly fibre is great for vines & moss when it’s stretched to an almost imperceptible thinness. Have you tried these trees with a thinner layer under the clump foliage? It would probably still hold the clumps like a mesh.
      For a ‘fantasy tree’ though, the carpet coverage works well.
      👍🏻👍🏻, as usual

And for future glue burns: immediately crack an egg in a bowl or flat plate and put your hand in the egg white (remove egg yolk or don’t disturb it) Leave your hand in the egg white for about 10 minutes and I guarantee you, the pain will go away and your skin will not blister! Looks great! Two things though. 1 - putting green-stuff on to a painted surface can easily break/fall off. Superglue would help but it's still on a painted surface, which can crack/chip off. 2 - as an alternative to hot-glue, you could try over-bake sculpt clay, it's usually pretty cheap. Depends what's cheaper, glue or clay. Great ends result :)

      @@TabletopWitchCRAFT I'm picking up some aluminium wire in different sizes to do the same sort of builds. One other thing I noticed, if you want to save some $ on the bulk of the leaves under the nice clump greens, instead of using hobby product, you could use cotton wool, and just air brush it dark green. That's a GREAT build! 'Course it's not sewer rats, but its excellent nonetheless. If you're likely to be doing more trees, I'd like to make a suggestion. Rather than painting Tacky Glue on to the Poly Fiber, soak your Clump Foliage in a solution of watered down wood glue. Can be overnight if you like, but you can usually use it after about 15 or 20 minutes. Then just put the Clump Foliage as you did in your demonstration. In about 2 days you'll have the look you have here but the foliage will be rigid, making it a whole lot easier to handle on dame day. I'll try your tree idea next time out. Thank you. - Mike

    Super detailed work again. I love how it looks. I could see that tree as the big center of a fairy kind of scene. Thing is.. the fairies would have to be really small. Or perhaps some fireflies. Thing is.. I wouldn't know how to make that :)
    The tree looks totally cool but also a bit delicate. Not sure if I would dare to use it for a game. For dioramas this is great though.

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT
      @TabletopWitchCRAFT  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Kylara. The tree really feel solid and the canopy can withstand a decent amount of shaking and movement. The tree sits flat and solid on the table as well. Give it a go!

    I have been looking at these for a while and came up with a midification im going to try
    if you cut the stem in half
    creating a top and a buttom. You could place a metal disc with a center hole, normally used for constryction. Placeing a small magnet in the center hole of the metal disc. This would create magnetic tress where you could remove the top when you needed to see what was below. Also making it easier to store. What do you think

    Those Fungi actually do hold water I've a photo of some doing exactly that from one of my walks. I've been hand sculpting haunted trees this week like the ones from green stuff world. I did exactly what you did with the hot glue and lost some flesh off my knuckle. couldn't be helped the trees where stumps and difficult to hold. I like your paint job on this, and I think I might have a go at sculpting a squirrel a I've really got into that now so much so I'm looking for a mini sculpture course ( bit awkward at the moment because of the virus but as soon as they become available I'm going.) but I think ill give the squirrel a shot,

    would be awesome for a specific ancient tree in an enchanted forest but imho i think they are way out of scale for 25mm ttrpg awsome build and when my party enters a druid stronghold or dryad forest this will be a centerpiece for it!!!!also would it be better to use a spray like super 77 over there tacky glue?

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT
      @TabletopWitchCRAFT  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, this is more of an "Elder" tree for my campaign. I have other plans down the road... I'm not sure how well the spray glue would work. The nice thing about making up your own mix you can paint on is that it will soak into the clump foliage for a great bond. Using the spray you would have to put a ton on. It went on real easy making my own watered down mix.
