This is a combination of three videos of Night Train Lane the greatest cornerback that has ever played in the NFL. His interception record has yet to be broken. It was set in only a 12 game season. His technique was ahead if its time but apparently never taken seriously, Facing The Play (FTP). Check out my other videos for a little more detail on the technique. If you want even more. Send me an email.

Best CB of all time...Dick "Night Train" Lane. 14 interceptions in a 12 game season is RIDICULOUS. Night Train and Mel Blount are the greatest corners who ever played the game

He was ahead of his time. They throw the ball A lot more nowadays then they did back then so the odds are in favor of DBs today but that record will never fall!!!!

No he won't!!!! because he will not stay healthy from here on. He will not play another full season again. To beat this record you need to stay healthy and be on the field.

I agree. If you can have 14 interceptions in a single season and the record still stands, he's the best. I would say if any one could come close to his record would be Nnamdi Asomugha, even though nobody throws his way. But I would love to have seen this guy play. He is also considered in my opinion to be the hardest hitter.

Best cornerback ever...case closed. How he came to play the game as a free agent is right up there with Unitas and Warner. Thats what pro football is about.

He was nicknamed "Night Train" because this ferocious head-hunting banger was afraid to fly. He took night trains to get to
    the games. No lie.

Concerning Night Train Lane's purported fear of flying...it was the 1950's...the dawn of the jet engine...and telling people they could now sit inside a pressurized metal tube, climb sbove 30k ft, hit speeds in excess of 500mph...when just a few years back, trains criss-crossing Americs at speeds of 50mph were the 'thing'...and, yeah...pretty sure a majority of athletes at that time were petrified of this 'flying' concept.
Lastly, his nickname did come as a result of the song, as previously mentioned by another TH-camr.

Today Football is a ear round business, offseason workouts and such. Back then players had to have regular jobs as well. The game has changed but different eras can't be compared properly due to situation. However 14 picks in a 12 game season when offenses didn't throw much and ran the majority of the time. And the record still stands that in and of itself makes him more impressive

Oh he played real football not like today i still think college football is better becuase they don't get paid they have to make it to the big leauges so that why you see more energy but when Dick Night Train Lane played i felt like he made college look not serious! he rocks!!!!
