What a beautiful song. It was a heavy weight for our family my husband 26 years military Cav, and 15 years with Sheriff’s department. Everyday was a day if he would come home. He is now retired and where living a quite enjoyable life. Thank you God for bringing him home each night.

Story is that one of his security guards was letting his grandson play with their badge and it got George to thinking about the "weight of the badge" and he decided to write it with Bubba and Dean.

As I was watching the videos related to 'The weight of the badge' suddenly 9/11 came to my mind. Firemen and police officers have been in the first line and a lot of them gave their lives to serve and protect They largely deserve our respect and recognition for their sacrifice.
