    Great video thanks. What I'm wondering is that can't we use MSFS by only implementing the routes that we generate in SimBrief? Also there is already ATC which will help us navigate throughout our route. By the way at the moment I'm ignoring the updated informations in Navigraph which are wonderful.

    • @FilbertFlies

      Yes, you can use MSFS by just importing SimBrief routes.

      @@FilbertFlies thank you. So why are you using Navigraph alongside with Simbrief? Is it because of regularly updated airport charts?

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use Navigraph for the charts, but also to update SimBrief to the latest AIRAC. Without doing that, it'll plan routes using out of date AIRAC data, which means you might have difficulty importing it into the sim because some of the waypoints, SIDS, STARS and approaches won't exist in the sim's database.

    Thank you for this video. Unfortunately, the waypoints from the Simbrief flightplan are often not identical to those in the downloaded flight plan in MSFS.

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is most likely due to the default navdata in SimBrief being very out of date. Unfortunately, to use the latest navdata (which should match that in the sim), you need a Navigraph subscription.

    • @peterherz5942
      @peterherz5942 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FilbertFlies I have a Navigraph and in Simbrief the newest AIRAC. I think, the navdata in MSFS are very old. I have tried update the data in MSFS with a tool from Navigraph, but it doesn´t solve the problem.

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@peterherz5942 Oh really? That's strange. I tend to be able to import simbrief plans and the world map screen follows them exactly. Just one more thing to check - are you changing from a runway to a parking spot in the world map screen? If you do this by clicking on a spot on the map, it deletes your flight plan and does its own. If you choose a spot from the drop down menu however, then it keeps the plan you imported. A bit of a long shot, and it doesn't sound like what you're describing, but I thought it was worth checking.

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Navigraph maps display in a separate window but, once you've imported a flight plan into the sim, it'll show up on the sim's VFR map too. The VFR map is pretty basic though.

    So, when I follow my route on SimBreif and try to put in the MCDU, some Airways or STARS aren't there. Is this because of me running the old AIRAC cycle?

    Thanks for the information! But when I insert the flightplan into MSFS, and change the runway for a gate, it resets the whole route for a standard route descided by the sim :(
    Is there any way to change the gate, whithout it deleting the whole route?

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This happens sometimes for me too. I think I got to the bottom of it yesterday. If you choose a gate on the map, it seems to replan the flight. If you choose a gate from the drop-down menu, it keeps the flight plan you imported. I'm not 100% of this but give it a go and let me know if I'm right.

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot of arrival procedures rely on air traffic control to vector aircraft to final. I've had a quick look at the EGNT STARS and that seems to be the case there, at least with some of them. If you're not flying with ATC, then it's still possible to fly these routes but you'll have to switch to heading mode (selected heading mode in the airbus) and choose headings that line you up with the final approach course.

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, the chances of the out-of-date navdata it comes with matching up with the up-to-date navdata in the sim are slim, so you're probably better off using the in-sim flight planner. Alternatively, you could try updating it a couple of times per year or so rather than paying each month - waypoints get added and removed all the time, but you should get away with most routes.

    Do you not set your approach eg ILS runway etc ?
    Great tutorial

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. SimBrief will choose the most likely departure and arrival runways when planning but your actual runway assignments and approach type (ILS, RNAV etc) would be assigned by ATC.

  • @felipeturbayr
    @felipeturbayr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Navigraph are working on bringing their navdata into the sim. Their new product is in beta at the moment (it's fixed this sort of thing but has caused a few new problems) and will be part of their paid subscription plans. Other than that, there isn't really a solution until MS/Asobo/Navblue fix the navdata issues themselves.

    I'm playing on Xbox granted, but I don't know what mistake I am making. Universally, when i set up a Simbrief flight plan and correctly input all the the details into the FMC in the A320neo, the in-game ATC keeps on giving me far lower cruise altitude than what I input in the Init page (say I input CRZ level 350, in-game ATC consistently seems to think my cruise altitude is like 12,000). Any tips?

    • @FilbertFlies
      @FilbertFlies  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To be honest, I haven't used the in-game ATC since the first week the sim was out, so I have no idea how it interacts with the A320's FMC flight plan. You might try exporting the flight plan as a .pln file and loading it via the world map screen though - I have a hunch that that'll work better.
