I'm myself an immigrant and have visited Vancouver but I have to say that I hate what North America has become, thats doesn't mean necessarily anti-immigrant but I believe that countries should remain at core what they are and have been historically, thats is what made them strong. Countries like Canada or the US or Australia are in great danger to completely change what they have been in the next 2 decades. Don't get me wrong, I believe immigrants make great contributions but I do not like when countries or cities start being invaded and the people who lived there before start feeling like foreigners in their own land

In a way this is a bit sad.
BC lost so much from this time. Now it's all just about money and Vancouver is being ruined by being sold out just for a quick buck. The city is no longer for its people it's just something to be sold off like it was some commodity.
We had much better leaders a much better system back then in BC. Work for most everyone who could work decent help if you weren't able or were sick homes you could actually afford to live in pretty comfortably not just scraping by month to month. If only more people had actually looked at what they had and not just voted for change just for changes sake

Not at all. Housing was for the people of BC not to be flipped. Projects were built for the people of BC not to be sold to corporations. The party in power took its membership from people born into all kinds of classes not just those born to political dynasties and was led for most of its existence as well as its principles laid down by a man who was born into abject poverty and was self made. People who tried to do things like launder money would be arrested.

Last year of Social Credit era British Columbia. Things looked so much friendlier cleaner and safer in Vancouver then. Well Vancouver isn't that dangerous compared to many other cities but it was certainly friendlier then and an actual place for people to live not just for real estate to be flipped
Theres just something I find charming in the things left over from that time like some of the Hydro interpretive centers or the unrenovated Skytrain stations or few old BCparks signs hand carved out of wood that havent been replaced by metal ones. They just exude a kind of lost optimism. Like reminders of a dream that nobody really remembers.

There's definitely more crackheads walking around but that's because how big the city has gotten & how expensive. Vancouver is still a great city. @Maxmulham It's not actually shut down. They were renovating it. It took them about four years, but they're finally finished. It's nothing like what it used to be, but at least it still exists. The top floor houses the Vancouver Circus School and some offices, and the bottom floor has some little mall-style trinket shops and a trendy supermarket at one end. Still wish it was the way it used to be.
