I was 8 when this happened and we drove in from Regina Saskatchewan. First ride I ever went on was the Space Drop. They had little windows on the door for us shorter folk to look out! Flood of memories watching this! Thank you!! 🙏🏻
Cool memory! I don't remember much but I remember riding the gondola! I was in grade 7 and went on a day school trip from Edmontons Westmount Jr. High. I swear we flew out early in the a.m. and were back in Edmonton and made it home to sleep in our own beds that night. Thanks for the video!
16:47 I was 17 and I rocked and swung one skytran cart like a school bell to almost 50* from level, what I didn't notice was it also swung the next 3 trans 1/2 as much down the line, scaring the bejezuses out of the old people ahead of, and behind me. They pointed at me as I came into the next station and said... THAT'S HIM, HE'S THE ONE!!! The security detained me until the angry old people were gone. They ended up giving Expo86 trinkets, and a few free tickets to a few upcoming events. But did tell me not to do that again, because getting a tran unstuck from the safety catch track would have taken hours to get the thing going again.
I worked Expo 86 and would finish a shift on one side and then get on a trolly and go to work a shift somewhere else on the other side of the park😄. The best were the evening shifts because we got to hear all the live bands at the outdoor theatre and we had sweatshirts that listed all the bands that played there. Yeah all horrible things come to an end, it was just a job but interesting 😁
Vancouver still had freaks then. I went to Expo '86. One day to see everything. I spent the whole summer at Expo '67, in Montréal and didn't see everything.
I remember walking through Canada place at 12 years old and being amazed at everything. I remember getting Covid vaccinated in that same space 35 years later and being amazed at how fucking weird life is.
cool things could done before they completed trashed the economy, and our minds and souls along with it I am sooo, sooooo, SOOOOO jealous of anyone who got to experience this. And how the fuck could they afford to construct and deconstruct a literal gondola and a monorail for this? Like what???

I was lucky to have a seasons pass. Would catch the Blue Bus from West Van to Vancouver or transfer to North Van and take the Sea Bus after school.

I hated Expo! Crowds, my friends got kicked out of their rented houses, foreign money started buying up the land and houses. Worst fair ever!
