Excellent pointers Tom!! So many teams struggle with sustainment because of lack of understanding of management support and their role to establish a system and not be the 5S fixers!
Thanks! Yes, management picking up the slack in 5S is a common pitfall - but their role is to support the system and remove any obstacles for others to abide by the standards; not to clean a line. I mean, that's good to do from time to time (and especially in your own office - that might have a bigger impact than cleaning somebody else's workplace 😉), but it's not your main task as a management.

Haha, nice to hear, and what a great time to 'consume' for learning. Be very clear with management that they have a big role in supporting and enabling 5S. They can take a role in some of the actual cleaning and sorting, but that's more for encouragement - the real battle is won when management takes care of the obstacles that make daily 5S difficult.
Good video Tom. Thank you for sharing. 5s is the day-to-day hour by hour conditioning that teams and individuals need to have in order to follow work specific processes. Maybe a good topic for another 5s video would be how the discipline and mindset obtained by a good 5s programme is transferrable to the actual production work mindset of quality, accuracy, and following Standard Operating Procedure.
