1998 - 2004 Toyota Tacoma Front Door Speaker Install

Watch a full tutorial as a 2004 Toyota Tacoma will have a Pioneer coaxial speaker set installed in the front doors. Our Tacoma has a factory component set with a separate mid-bass in the door and tweeter in the upper door panel, however, in this install, we will be simply installing a coaxial speaker.
This video applies to Toyota Tacoma models for years 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, and 2004. This video also includes door panel and speaker removal, complete installation, wiring, and testing.

I have a 99 tacoma SR5, I'm trying to install aftermarket speakers on the front door. I have an issue with the window rail, the magnet hits the rail and I'm looking for an alternative. What do you recommend?

Just bought the adapter MEtra 72-8104 for speakers, are the tweeters the same adapter?

Hey, thanks for the video. Real quick. My '04 Tacoma single cab comes with tweeters and 6x8s behind the doors. Your link recommends 6.5" components with the adapter brackets. Crutchfield says 6.5" speakers won't fit this truck, but the 5.25" woofers will with the adapter. Is that incorrect? I'd rather install 6.5" or 6x8 components, but Alpine doesn't have 6x8 components so I'm stuck with 6.5" or 6x9s if I want Alpine components in this truck. What do you recommend?

Question, Did these pioneer speakers still work if you left the stock head unit/ radio?

I installed Kenwood 6x8 speakers and left the factory head unit. It does work but the speakers are underpowered and you can tell the higher you turn up the volume (sound also gets distorted at higher volume). I ended up installing a mini amplifier from the factory head unit to the door speakers; it’s called “Taramps TL 500,” it works great and the door speakers sound much better.

Both 6.5 and 6x8 fit the same u get more bass on a 6x8 because they have a bigger surface area
