    Man, I have this car and I was really freaked out after hearing how much the repair costs and how many people have this problems. Was about to sell it to avoid the trouble in the future, but now I actually have some peace of mind. Thank you very much!

    All that dust can't be good for the lungs. I know as guys some of us are too tough/macho to think/use safety gear but cancer does not discriminate between genders. For your health/well being I strongly recommend you use an appropriate respirator for the job. These things tend to catch up to us as we age. Trust me on this. Great Video! Very Helpful. Just bought a 2016 Focus 2.0. No codes or anything, but certainly felt like from 1st to 2nd slipped or was "rough." I did as you suggested, but didn't spin the actuator. Just vacuumed, sprayed brake cleaner let it sit, then WD40. Put it back in with screws and turned key a few times to light up panel and engage actuator. Repeated 3 times. Runs great now! Is this something I should do every year? or XX miles for maintenance? I have no desire nor skill to remove and take apart the transmission.

    my focus stopped reversing and skipped gears
    the code indicated the clutch motor to be the problem,
    the motors both worked and when i removed the transmission, i was full of corrosion and moisture
    one clutch fork was jammed in the disengaged position and the entire clutch popped out from under spring tension
    your video really helped

    Ford's DCT is the most misunderstood transmission in history. I have a Mexican Ecosport with The 2.0 and DCT tranny. Traveled from Dallas to CUU, even Puerto Vallarta and Dallas to Chicago. I'm at over 115k miles now. Clutch A is getting stuck and I had the same plan as you just explained in the video. Thank you for sharing bro.

    Hi thanks for this free tutorial. I have a ford focus 2013 and had it since 2014. Bought it near new from the dealer 13k kilometers only but after almost a year of use it seems shuddering is already annoying me when driving and brought it back to the dealer. That time I already received a notice of recall regarding this shuddering issue and the service department said it was covered under warranty and a new clutch assembly will be installed. They hold my car for a couple of days for that service but only slight improvement. I have no way of verifying if the new clutch assembly was really installed. It only shows in paper report service that a new clutch assembly was installed. I was checking it under the hood and looking at all the bolts holding this transmission and to me it looks like never been removed. I just convinced myself that they did a pretty good job removing and installing it back like nothing happened. I used it for years until 2020 which a no reverse issue came out. Luckily there’s a recall with the tcm and they replaced it with new tcm. Here I was able to verify physically the new tcm cause it’s attached outside the transmission. It’s been two years since the tcm change and shuddering and sometimes slipping and grinding noise occurs which annoys me. I really love this car except that transmission issue. I have never trusted the dealership service cause the first annual service that I paid them was a disaster. Imagine when I picked up my car after that service and opened the hood there was oil everywhere They left the oil cap sitting in the engine bay. Lucky I didn’t drove away immediately. They cleaned it big time and after that I was servicing my car for the past 8 years on my own except transmission problem. Now that I’ve watched your videos I am now convinced that I can service this time with the needed tools you’ve mentioned. Lastly, will my Autel MK808TS can program the adaptive learning of this transmission? I have owned the new scanner for a couple of months only since buying a European VW Tiguan 2011. Sorry it’s a long story but I just want you to see where I am at this time. Hopefully when I give a crack in servicing the focus transmission I can ask some questions if I will encounter some issues along the way. Cheers bro and keep helping DIY people like me. God bless you

    Ford TSB for shuddering works for a while if you are just having the 1st-2nd gear shudder. Have a 2012 that's had the TCM reprogrammed at 80k but still shuddered from time to time. Every so often, I've ran the TSB and in doing so, 'scrubs' the clutches enough to keep the shuddering at bay for another 20-30k miles. You will have shudders throughout most of the life of the car in those first two gears. 230k on ours now and it's finally slipping in the 1st-3rd-5th gear clutch and has finally thrown a code indicating a bigger problem. Will reply back with report on code(s) found.

    • @XJon2011
      @XJon2011 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@comparecars_org Oh I can definitely tell that it needs the 1-3-5 clutch, no doubt. The car only had one code for clutch depth or something similar, I forget sorry. But the car will sit for a few months until I can get parts then another month or more to get someone to work on it. Motor runs like a champ and uses barely any oil.

    Hello Brother, I am very grateful for your video that helped me to take out my transmission, replaced broken z washer that ford dealer calls cylinder and one of A fork . Unfortunately I created more issue when I did put everything back. I did use wrong screw between trans body and engine and I did punctured the freeze coolant liquid cap and causing all the coolant to leak.. I am not sure if any high temp sealer will help to seal this leak.. for those who will do this job in DIY, please take time to mark or number every screw where it belong and will save you half day to figure out where the screw belong. If you have any advice how to fix this punctured plug, please respond to me , please… thanks.

    Wonder if they creeped in bad traffic every day... or used first gear to hang on the side of a hill all the time, waiting at lights, instead of using the brake pedal...
    Seems like if we drilled, tapped, and installed an air jet fitting by each actuator/fork, then hook up to an air compressor, every few months at each, with a capped fitting for the dust to escape, opposite of each, on the case, we could keep it clear of all bulk dust, and probably the dust on everything else, if the fitting creates a blasting effect inside the case.....especially if connected while shifting gears up and down the range, on a rolling road...

      Then it started overheating and my mechanic said it was the clutch...So after trying to find just a clutch which is almost impossible. So after searching and searching. I ordered a clutch from three different companies and all three of them were junk and not usable so I had to wait for them to refund my money. So I unfortunately had to buy a $700+ LUK KIT n now My mechanic said that he had it unlocking outside of the transmission but it won't unlock when it's in my car. He said he's done it several times.. PLEASE HELP.. I have been without a vehicle for a very, very long time to say the least it's basically ruining my entire life, no transportation at all..If I could just get a different car I would. I am upside down on my car it only has 85,000 hwy miles on it and was/is a very nice car.. I have also checked with Ford and all they say is my VIN # doesn't match to get it fixed. Yet, I have had EVERY SINGLE ISSUE THAT THE LAWSUITS ARE ABOUT😭.. Anyway,
      If you can please please give me any information, suggestions etc. as to why that would happen or HOW TO FIX the new clutch not unlocking when in the car..
      And of course now they will not refund my $$ through Parts Geek..My mechanic said when he got the kit he just replaced everything because everything was new.. So, If you could please, please respond n recommend anything I would absolutely be so GRATEFUL.Thank you So Much again..
      I also was watching another video you have and you said that you have a lot of clutches laying around?? Idk maybe I could buy one if needed??? I am absolutely desperate at this point. Please respond.. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

I snapped the bolt on the original spring so I used a different one from a junk yard trans (Same B fork and side) before I re-install the clutch and trans I would like to get a second opinion if this is a bad idea or not! Thanks!

      Thanks! I was hoping you would say that! Didn't want to have to buy a new fork kit!

    I have a 2013 focus. I'm getting a stuck open on actuator A. I spun them counter-clockwise 14xs, they both moved freely and I could feel them snap back. Would that indicate they are good and not stuck, making the probable cause the actuators or tcm..thanks i hope you answer.

      Could be a few things. Actuators, TCM, or the bearing that pushes clutches broke inside

      @@L8R-HP i just removed the transmission and found 2 small spings at the bottom of the bell housing, are there tiny springs in the fork assemblies?

    Went too far back counter-clock wise when using the small reset tool. (Removed clutch actuator B, was trying to clean with brake clean and impact gun) Seen a small bearing pop out. I will have to replace the forks right?

    Gonna do this soon to my Fiesta. Fork is seized up and broke. Car has 135,000 should I be swapping out a new clutch while I’m there or do you think the old clutch still works

      Clutch is usually good. It’s best to replace everything while you’re in there

    One other question.
    . When you manually engage the shift forks 14 turns and then remove the special tool the forks snap back to the front.. the A fork is snapping back strong and loud however the B fork is snapping back but seems only about half the force of the A fork. Is that normal? Both fork were thoughly cleaned and re-lubricared, as well as the bell housing. I tried to watch and listen to various videos but I couldn't make out a definitive answer.

      As long as they go back after 14 turns it’s ok. If they stop or sticking that’s gona slip the clutch

    Hey man I got 2015 ford focus Se with 84 thousand never had any issues the other day I get in the car start it up go to put the car in reverse it won’t go into reverse, so check engine light comes on. I look up the check engine light it says actuator be replaced actuator be car still go with reverse still won’t go into reverse now the check engine light wouldn’t even shut off. Also even if I unplug the battery it wouldn’t reset it did twice then you get in the car for the first two times you put a reverse and drive to Elle going to drive or reverse the third time you put reverse ever throw the check engine light and then I’ll like slips like there’s no reverse and then sometimes it I’ll do it in drive then reverse.

    Question: Why is this transmission so dry? Where does the transmission fluid play a part in this? I was expecting the entire transmission to be wet, including all parts.

    • @L8R-HP
      @L8R-HP  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      These transmissions are dry dual clutch. Basically a stick shift transmission but it’s being shifted by a computer. The fluid is only there to lube the gears

      @@L8R-HP Thanks great video. If I had the knowledge and the tools to do this, I will not go to a dealer. I have my 2014 focus and the actuator motos is burnt . Code DTC P2872 perform ppt and found clutch actuator motor burn out. The repair cost with labor part and tax is 970.49. I have to pay because I do not know how to do it. Again, thanks for the video.
