    The worst part is they made a world that was already explored, it all feels like we were late to the party. Every planet is littered with factory’s and outposts, you are never more than a few hundred meters from a structure. The whole colonial war already happened and you just get to hear about all the cool interesting events that already occurred. No matter how far you go there are always humans waiting for you there.

      Those are basically the exact words I said when ranting about this game. Everything remotely interesting about this universe has already happened. It's extremely bizarre too with how much this game romanticizes the act of exploring. It's also completely ridiculous what they did with Earth. I understand they can't make an explorable future Earth, but they could at least do something more interesting than making it an uninhabitable sandy desert because of space artifact magic. If they had the balls to completely destroy Earth it would've made for a more gritty and interesting universe.

      Somehow, the relentless haters started with, “The worlds are completely empty!! I hate it!” and have now arrived at, “There’s stuff everywhere!! I hate it!”
      If you like the game, you like it. If you love the game, you love it. If you hate the game, you hate it. Leave it at that. If playing the game isn’t worth your time, then making countless hours of content about it isn’t either.
      … unless you know it’s a well-loved game and you’re using Bethesda’s success to boost your interactions.

  • @NightsoftInteractive

    Spot on!
    Starfield is so fundamentally flawed on so many levels.
    It's plagued with bad game design decisions, half baked systems, bland & uninspired writing and outdated quest design.
    It ain't "Skyrim in Space", nor is it "Fallout in Space"
    Starfield is a downgraded, mediocre and soulless mixture of Skyrim & Fallout 4, without the free world exploration and the charm of either.
    It's a regression from Bethesdas previous titles in all aspects and the saddest part is that it took them 8 years to create a soulless piece of mediocrity with unparalleled boredom.

    • @Serjuh
      @Serjuh  ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Whats even worse is that they had ALL the creative freedom to write whatever the hell they want, there is no established lore that restricts them from going crazy.

      @@Serjuh Indeed, Starfield exposed how creatively bankrupt BGS is.
      Like you said without decades worth of established lore and world building, Bethesda is lost.
      While the setting itself ain't very interesting to begin with, it would still be much better if they set the game during the colony war.
      Instead of collecting artifacts and becoming space dragonborn, you could decide with which faction you want to side, find a solution to unite the factions, side with the corps to sabotage the war or choose to be a renegade who conquers the settlements. Such a wasted opportunity!

    Their version of space is done by a developer in an hour. Just a glorified PNG called a planet where you a and a couple of things spawn in. Be it a space fight or a space station. But you are just still in a tiny box with a star background. And even if you see the other planet in the distance. There is no point in going there by actual travel. It would take a long time to get to another planet/moon texture and you would still have to go in the menu and click on it to travel to the planet itself. So you wasted half an hour to turn in a side quest. Space exploration is just an illusion in that game. Even if the game can be fun. The advertisement for it was a lie to appease to the masses.

    • @Serjuh

      @@Serjuh it isn't because of that, it's because they value things differently (not at all the same thing); I care A LOT about simulation, most people care more for eye candy and "flavor", which is why (for example) no city builder ever really satisfies me, because I care about the simulation; and why FPS are boring to me (even the most famous ones), because I don't really care about frames per second, grpahics and other stuff. I find it hard to understand, but Starfield is EXACTLY what a lot of people wanted...
      PS: the funny thing is that you are very clearly one of those bethesda fanboys, the way you talk about skyrim and fallout (those were already extremely dumbed down adventure games NOT RPG's)

Otherwise I'm not sure what I would say Starfield players are valuing differently... except maybe that familiar old Bethesda feeling. It doesn't have really high standards in any particular aspect... it's just kinda okay at everything it's doing. But it feels like a BGS game in a new setting with a couple new gimmicks, and that's exactly what a lot of people wanted like you said. As a bonus, it's the "most polished BGS release ever" and wasn't a train wreck at launch!

    the factions is made worse, when most of the time you fight anyone they are all wearing spacesuits that barely look different.

    • @Mantelar
      @Mantelar ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The way they fight sucks. The AI does the right things to a point. Fix and flank kinda sort of happens. But not with the kind of rapidity that makes any fight urgent. I’ve never had one target a gas tank in purpose…if they did that one thing alone, this would play like a very different game.
      And yes, aside from the Va’Ruun weapons being a bit different, you fight them all the same way. It’s annoying. What those toons actually do matters more though, and we’ve reached a point in gaming where it’s something we can expect.
      Imagine fighting realizing your fighting ecliptic and puckering up because these guys put down a determined defense…mines covered by fire. Mortars if you stay in one place for too long. Tanks they blow up when they get near them, etc. or fearing UC because you know they’ll have heavy weapons and mechs (that ban is lame)(where are the machine gun turrets?).
      Or maybe you gotta worry about freestar because they’re using armored Ashta or something.
      And there should be the pucker factor of reinforcement for all factions. Like take too long to clear a place and the big boyz drop in. Like a mech boss, or terrormorph boss. Or say like chemical weapons or tac nuke (big boy) unit showing up.
      All this stuff gives the fighting a sense of place that the outfits help with as well.

    You hit the nail on the head, in just about ever issue I have with the game. I think the most wild part is that in the UC vanguard they give you all this interesting lore. I can't help but think why are we playing in this time period and not during mech and alien warfare. I never really liked fallout 4 but I went back to replay it after beating starfield or I guess becoming a starborn. I tried survival for the first time, and was actually having fun. Starfield feels like a chore to play, doesn't help that it feels like 80% of the quest are go here grab this and bring it here. I am disappointed in starfield, even if I was just expecting fallout 4 in space it's far worse than that.

      Without a way to move through the universe, you can't have Skyrim 'exploration' where you move around and find things, get distracted, be immersed. That was a core design decision, and mods sadly can't fix that. (Maybe I'm wrong? Hope so!)

    • @bigboyfinesse8310
      @bigboyfinesse8310 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Honestly players shouldn’t actually be ok hiatus with this game but boycott it. It’s literally a spit in the game community face to yet again, release a half ass game with „modders will fix it“ mentality. It’s not on modders to fix bethesdas shit and gamers should have more dignity and actually demand something for their money, instead of sucking bethesda off just for using this old ass engine cuz it’s so „highly moddable“ as fanboys love to say so proudly. Im done with bethesda, that was one too many disappointments. I will check out ES6 but my hype for it is completely gone. 5-6 years will pass and we will see yet again a demo showcase with todd howard lying through his teeth and then get screwed one more time for 70-80 bucks before he retires as he said.

Nothing gives you that wow feeling of exploration experience, unique interactions, it's just shot guns, fast travel, talk to boring lame weirdos in terrible perspectives. It's ridiculous. Gaming should be better than this. It doesn't need to be Huge! It just needs to be fun, creative, have personality! This game lacks personality more than any other game. They think they improved graphics and size and that makes it "better" No... The answer is No... People would rather have better art style, dynamic vibes, immersive exploration experience, things to do when you explore besides shot gun, walk in barren places... Everything is such a waste of time that there are almost no boss battles, interesting quest lines, good mythology, meaningful loot or combat. It appears as if Bethesda spent so much time and money getting their procedural generation No Man's Sky ripoff working that they didn't have much time to do anything else. In their haste, they implemented as much boring fetch quests as possible with generic voice acting to make it seem like there's some substance here, but there isn't. About the most fun you have in this game is customizing your ship, and I'm not even joking about that. That's how dull the game is.

      In NMS you just scan once and you're done, free to move on from that resource/animal, and you can scan at any range. Whereas in Starfield you have to scan the same thing multiple times and only if you're close to it because they had to turn "comfort" into a skill.

    100% agree with your points. I enjoyed settlements in Fallout 4 as it had story meaning. I was rebuilding community and society it was fulfulling & rewarding. In Starfield there is no world lore reason to make a base. No one needs materials and you don't need much money. I made lots of bases to get specific achievements and most bases were bugged with the storage links not working, or ship landing pads not working, or crafting benches not working. I didn't really enjoy space combat. There was no 3D radar so there was no way of working out which enemy was the closest and the best to try and attack. I would just spend ages doing nothing chasing an enemy that was far away. Space random encounters were terrible. I had the exact same geologist & conversation 3 times and every time Ithe game was bugged and would not let me give her the rocks she wanted. I also had the religion tour ship 3 times and had the exact same set of questions from the passengers. In the end I just avoided space and fast travelled straight to the planets.

    When it comes to enjoying a game, I don’t want to do most of the work. My attention, my interest and ultimately my enjoyment should be earned, not taken for granted. I feel like Starfield just says “Here’s a workable storyline and a few half-arsed characters. Here’s a gun and a few simple enemies to shoot with it. Here’s a city. Here’s another one. Here’s a bunch of bog-standard quests. Here’s some empty terrain to explore. Not happy? Okay, here’s a spaceship, design your own. Or build an outpost. Here’s a scanner, go scan. Here’s some sh*t, go craft. HAVE FUN!” Is there some kind of abdication of responsibility going on here? It’s an RPG’s job to actually DESIGN THE FUN, not just empty a toy box all over the floor, say “Enjoy!” and walk off.

      Your hopes are likely to be fulfilled. I more or less completed the script for the Lords of The Fallen video (hopefully i don't get an itch to revise some segments) and it stands rather close to this video word count wise.
      I reckon that will also be the case going forward if the game in question has enough for me to isolate and evaluate.

    The problem with pronouns is that you have to eat them, whether you like them or not. They put them in for the sake of filling out a checkbox and nothing more, they don't care, like for example the Russian's shirt with the wrong colors or in Spiderman 2 where Miles is Cuban... Video games are to get out of the reality of Shit we live in. and not for them to preach their sinister agenda.

    I praise you good sir for saying the truth about this game I will no longer be purchasing any game from bethesda anymore. Although I do have to say fallout 4 is a good narrative rpg (basically meaning you have a story you have to follow) they have done nothing to fix the problems of their games and claim "it just works" or that we as players "need to update and upgrade our consoles" because Dawg howard can't optimize a video game after 25 years.

    • @Serjuh
      @Serjuh  ปีที่แล้ว

      Fallout 4 definitely had some design to it. By following the quest-line there, you would 100% run into some side-content. Be it an interesting quest, dungeon or random encounter.
      Can't have that in Starfield since everything is
      >Open quest log
      >Show on map
      >Set course

    What a disappointment this game is on so many levels.

  • @Bowkowsowman
    @Bowkowsowman ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Spot on. I've come to the realization that the game is fundamentally flawed in a way that no mod or update can actually fix. It's the base level structures of the game that are so unappealing. I keep telling people one of the things that just kills the game for me is that there is nothing 'between the space' - between the chunks of things you're looking to do; There's no emergent gameplay. And i don't think that conversations or even fights in the space boxes above the planets really count.
    Then you land on the planet and it might be beautiful, but it's so empty. The procedural content is so uninteresting. Honestly, they could have made the game feel bigger by just having one hand-crafted system. Earth is already destroyed in the game - they could have made that even bigger - have parts of the earth blown off in chunks flying around the Sol system that the player can land on. Humans can have colonies on mars, titan, and other moons. They could have created a new planet or a dyson sphere. It's just a huge disappointment.
