  • This is the fourth day on board the P&O Pacific Encounter on our adventure from Brisbane to Papua New Guinea and our first Port of Call - Alotau.
We have a separate video on Alotau so please check that out to see what we got up to there. Even though it was a port day there was still plenty going on around the ship and evening was the much loved Back to School Party.
You can also find lots more information on our website at www.robandali.net
Thanks for supporting us and take care. Don't forget to Like and Subscribe to watch more of our Cruise and Travel adventures.

Definitely don’t have to lose. I only put $40 through the casino and left with $70, so won $30. I got a Players Club deal. It did take 7 months from when I played to receiving the offer though. I assume if you cruise regularly there isn’t much incentive for them to offer cheap deals though.

Hi Rob and Ali, I’m getting on the P&O Great Barrier Reef discovery cruise that departs Brisbane, in January. I’ve watched your videos on Airlie Beach and Cairns which are super helpful! I have a question for you… can you tell me, when the cruise itinerary says we stay in Cairns overnight, do I need to book a hotel on land for that stop over or do we sleep on the ship?
Can’t believe it’s not explained on the P&O website?! So thought you’d be the next best people to ask 😊

Hi Joanne. Thanks for the comment and apologies for the delay in replying. You do not need to book any accommodation or food off the ship. An overnight port just means that you don't leave the dock for the night. Everything else on the ship is the same and there for you to enjoy. Also, you can get off and on at your leisure so if you fancy a later night in the City you can do that and then just go back to the ship to your cabin. Or, if you fancy an early morning walk along the boardwalk you can do that also.

@@robandalicruisetravel Hi guys, thank you so much for taking the time to respond to my question. It is greatly appreciated. Your detailed response has fully answered my question and I loved to learn that we can stay out later or get up and do a nice early morning walk! I hadn't even thought of that. Also relieved to hear we don't have to find accommodation. Thanks again for all that you do in providing so much support to a upcoming first time cruiser :)

Did you need proof of a RAT test prior to boarding? Going on the same cruise in two weeks, thanks.

Hi and sorry for not getting back to you earlier. You will know the answer to this by now although it could change very soon, maybe in the next few days. Hope you had a fantastic cruise.

    “Tannoy”….jeez you are so English
😂 the last time I heard someone call the main broadcast system a tannoy was onboard HMS Invincible when she visited Sydney in the 90s.
Very jealous of you pair, we were supposed to do PNG in 2020 but the CCP virus ended that. I was looking forward to Milne bay, which was were the Japanese was handed their first major defeat on land during WW2.

Hi Michael, it's been a while. Hope you're doing OK now. Occasionally the old English creeps in, even after 20 odd years here. Ali comes out with some great ones sometimes that really take me back, especially the scouse sayings.
What are the cruising plans now then?

Hi Sharon. If you are referring to the tour then I would say probably not. The minibuses were pretty cramped and it was an effort for us to get in and out. There was a lady with us with a walker and she did manage but if you are dependant upon a wheelchair we would say not really suitable.
